Can you sew lace wigs instead of glue?

Now even if you say that it's not possible - I'll just try it anyway lol

honestly i dont know how it look when sewed in but i wouldnt do it myself cuz it can damage the lace in the long run,
there are waterbased glue sold now
and glue that people in the theatrical industry use i.e spirit gum.

i know this doesnt mean it safe but well i think glued units are better and faster

do you mean sew it like a fall?  yes you can do that , you will leave out your hair in the front and wear it like a half wig.  

if you want to sew it you may as well order a custom fall to wear behind your hairline with wig clips and double lace in the front ... or a mono ... intl_babygirl2008-04-03 21:24:03

[/QUOTE]Actually this isn't true.. A lot of the lace based closures and frontals are made from the same materials as a lacefront wig. Purchased from the right vendor and installed using proper techniques, the lacefront wig base will last just fine from being sewn down..

It is absolutely possible to sew one of these wigs down.. Think of it as an "instant weave" or a very large "closure" of sorts.. My stylist and I have talked about a sewn-in installation of a lacefront.. Basically she would sew it in just like a closure except it would be sewn around the entire perimeter of my head.. (versus just sewing a small piece in the crown area) She would not be using invisible thread as the clear threads are more likely to cut my natural hair, and they will be difficult to see upon takedown.. My stylist does not use invisible thread when sewing down my closures for the same reason.

It's all about the sewing technique used to prevent the thread from being seen. When I do this (later this year probably), my stylist will use a perimeter braid to adjust the wig as my hair grows.. The perimeter braid will allow her to remove the wig, re-braid the perimeter braid, and then re-apply the wig.. In short, the use of a perimeter braid will make the wig removal and re-application VERY easy.. I could potentially wear the wig for 2-4 week stretches if I want. The technique we're planning to use to install the wig will make it easy to remove and reapply the wig as often as I need/want.. Care for my hair underneath the wig would be no different than caring for my hair underneath a netweave.. In short this is completely doable. Divavocals2008-04-06 10:32:48

I plan to do this before the end of this year.. This idea has ALWAYS appealed to me.. WalkSoftly, can you post pics of your duaghter's install?? I'd love to see.. There's many pluses to this for me personally in terms of time and other benefits.. I can't wait to do this..

I have also sewn my lf in.  I actually prefer to use glue b/c, I like to condition my hair every few days. But, there are a few different ways to sew it in. Also, I had problems with the invisible thread.  It didn't hold very well cause it was too thin.

I've slowly but surely had to replace ALL of the clear nylon thread in that wig with regular weaving thread..

As long as you are careful not to tear the lace, sew ins work beautifully and imo are more comfortable . . .depending on what I'm doing I even use bobby pins.  You just have to be careful . . .

I have sewed my unit on, I used the clear thread at the front & normal weave thread around the remaining .

I don't have any hair to sew the lace front on but what I have been doing is taping on my wig cap and then sewing my lace front to the wig cap with invisible thread and then gluing the edges, this method works well for me especially my nape
