I'm glad to have found this site, I'm 43 and have been dealing with thinning hair since my 20's.

I have very thin hair on top of my scalp. I have tried so many things, rogaine, special shampoos etc. It is hereditary, my mom, myself and daughter all have thin hair that began when I was 22, my daughter 18 and my mom 30. An endocrinologist told my daughter that she has PCOS and most likely I and her grandma do as well.

I am however hesitant to take any sort of OTC or herbal supplements. I had a bad reaction to some herbal pills (ecchinacia & st johns wort) that caused an allergic reaction, and an auto immune anemia, I couldn't even walk accross the room without being winded. It affected my spleen and I nearly had to have a blood transfusion and splenectomy...as it was I was tested for lymphoma and leukemia and had to have a bone marrow biopsy--ouch! I don't ever want to go through that again.

I have tried Toppik to help cover my scalp, it was hard to control and I felt it looked fake...then i discovered Millefollium products, I tried their Alopecia masking lostion and that works for me, I have black hair and fair skin, the contrast is shocking...I got a lot of looks. I also only use salon shampoos, I like Redken and Biolage best.

I also searched all over for a good hair stylist, word of mouth is the best advertisement...my daughter and I both go to her and drive 20 miles. I have to keep my hair fairly short, i have it in a bob, if it's gets too long, it drags my hair and face way down.

I curl my hair and use lots of hairsparay. My hair looks natural-people know I've done something but can't place what it is. I'm getting gray so I color my hair about 3 times a year. I've used Casting by Loreal, and Natural Instincts by Clairol and Shades EQ if my stylist does it. They all gradually wash out and add a bit of thickness.
