I am loosing hair for 2-3 years now , I had long hair for 3 years but 3 months I had to cut it because it was getting out of control. I am lucky because my hair is growing pretty fast without any vitamins but it got thinner too. Because I was feeling bad I made some tests and I need to take a lot of calcium , vitamins , iron etc. My hair is steel falling(from the ROOT) , when I wash it is even worst , my scalp is greasy but if I wash it every few days is ok . Now I started taking these vitamins and supplements : calcium , soy protein , ginseng , B12 , folic acid , iron , I drink a lot of water and I try to eat what is good. I have vit. A and E too , and I am going to buy some hair vitamins , silica etc. What other thing could be responsible for my hair loss , am I doing something wrong ? The hair is already starting to grow but I don
------------- ps : Sorry if I make mistakes(spelling etc.) but I am just starting to learning English

Pay attention to one thing : too much vitamine A can cause hair loss. Don`t exceed 10,000 UI a day.!) ( H!dd e )% ,`r !*$b . -) !%,$%,!%!, @ #4

Hi there. I have the same problem. My hair too has been falling for some time. I concluded that it was nothing to do with what I was eating or my vitamins I take. You can go to your doctor and get some blood tests done. It may be your thyroid. An under active thyroid can definitly cause hairloss.
Hope this helps. :) brandi. :P

I have started the treatment with that lotion , it better work , because I smelled like a gas station ..lol , my husband is joking that he has tow cars now . This lotion has a component that is extracted from natural gas (like the one that was used for light before electricity) and for a few hours it smells but after you wash the hair it goes away .0! Violeta ,, Read my message on this messageboard titled , LADIES, CONCERNING FEMALE BALDNESS, I think you will find it helpful. Even if you do lose your hair, many women today are wearing the very short haired look, and even the bald look. My beautiful wife wears her hair very short and sometimes shaves her head bald. She looks very sexy with long earrings, the right makeup, and a sexy dress! Much love to you darling!

!p`$ $ @$$, @ @@ Hrm... I went to that site. there are chemicals in that spray similiar to rogaine (actually the same thing as rogaine that they mentioned minoxodil)
They also mention "herbal extracts to reduce topical levels of DHT." I`ll tell you what herbal extract reduces the topical levels of DHT.... It is used for prostate cancer in men *because* DHT is the leading cause of prostate cancer. (I know that sounds just lovely but don`t get me wrong here, it`s the truth) It is ALSO a leading cause of hair loss (even ladies can have an amount of DHT in their body not just men can have it!)
Saw Palmetto is herbal and can be taken as a supplment or used as an extract and reduces levels of DHT! There is your herbal extract. Other herbs can help circulation.
They clearly don`t mention all the ingredients like most sites would.. which makes me a little iffy about it.. I mean the reason i didn`t try rogaine is that I`ve heard if you use it you`ll get hairs but they`re not healthy hairs and if you stop using it the hair will all fall out and not just the ones that grew.. Yet they`re adding an extract that lowers DHT to it.. hmm..
It`s a very questionable product... I believe circulation and vitamins have a lot to do with how your hair grows. As well as protein intake.
If there is one thing that is common in most hair loss products or supplments it would be biotin, horsetail, saw palmetto, or MSM. Everything else just helps it to work it along it`s way. For example you can`t honestly take all the vitamins and herbs that were said to prevent hair loss or help it without eating like they`re magic beans or something.
Looking at the labels really does help, and what`s really great is people seem to all found some results with those vitamins and herbs some way or another. And not just "testimonials" but *real* people. Which is why I`m in the process of taking all I`ve got into finding out what works and what doesn`t :)
Don`t take that negativly, I`m just trying to help out.

Don't take that negativly, I'm just trying to help out. [/QUOTE] All I know, after many years of dealing with Alopecia Areata, Dr. Lewenberg`s Formula grew my hair back in less than three months and I now use his lotion (spray) once a day for maintainance purposes. I am a real person with almost 20 years of dealing with this disease and have tried many different drugs/remedies and all I know and can say about this particular product - It stopped my hair loss and grew normal, healthy hair back. For the first time in over five years, I have long, thick hair - well past my shoulders.
When I went personnally to his office in NYC, there was hundreds of pictures taken in his office with before and after 3 months, 6 months, etc... and it looked like his lotion worked for them too. They were instant pictures and could not be retouch... I am one of them.
I know that his site also offers vitamins for sale but I do not buy them.
I passed on his site for informational purposes. If you want to try his product - I personally recommend it - if not, that is your choice.

Hmm, I`m just saying drugs don`t work for everyone. Have you stopped taking his products ever? I would really want to have something that I don`t have to keep buying and that doesn`t have drugs in it. I know that saw palmetto is a DHT blocker, and I`d rather buy something that has listed, every ingredient they use.
Rogaine doesn`t even work for everybody! As soon as they stop, it falls out again.
I think vitamins and herbs are a lot safer, and they can also bring your hair back in that little time. But it works from the inside out, and not the outside in so it`s just got to be better not to mention healthier. I`d rather have the good stuff circulating through my blood flow too.
I just won`t try the product because they will not say what`s in it and will not mention what blocks DHT! it`s like they think you can`t find anythign that will do the same thing, when there is obviously things out there that can do the same exact thing only better.

I wish you luck in finding the right conbination of vitamins and herbs that will help you. In regard to your question, I have stopped using his product for a few years with no excessive hair loss. I restarted his lotion a few weeks ago after I started noticing a little too much hair in my brushes and on my bathroom floor. Dealing with Antopia Areata on and off again for almost 20 years, I am very sensitive to hair loss and started reusing his lotion as a preventive measure which he highly recommends and so do I. My brushes are not as full with my hair and I no longer shed hair on my hands in the shower when I wash it.
His product has been tested since 1986 and is patented. The reason I think his product works for Alopecia Areata is because it has a combination of minoxidil and tretinoin. I understand that minoxidil doesn`t work for everyone but Alopecia Areata is a strange disease where your own T-cells attack your hair follicle. I think the tretinoin is the key - why I am not really sure but if there truly was one way to make hair grow back than no one would have hair loss. I think it is more an individual choice and what works best for you. His product works for me. A quick stray in the morning before adding some hairspray works best.
Again, I sincerely wish you luck in your search!

I see! I`m really happy that it works for you, and that you were brave enough to try it.
My hair has always been thin in texture so I need vitamins to give my hair an extra boost. I`m sure my hair would fall out otherwise.
I`ll tell you if I come up with a big breakthrough ;) There have been no noticable differences yet except for my nails seem to be getting harder. (My nails used to crack and peel off real easliy because they were so thin!) so I think that`s a good sign especially at about 1 week. I`ve alsobeen usng some olive oil treatments that seem to have put more texture into my hair.
I think my hair loss might be a little different than yours since when it falls out it just keeps going.. I`ve never seen it stop! My thinning areas aren`t very noticable unless you get really close but I don`t ever want them to ever be noticable..
Thanks for the luck! Tonight I`m going to out to buy MSM (it`s a vitamin for joints but many people are saying that it makes the roots stay in your head longer and prevents shedding)

try the phyto line of products - particularly phtyotaxil. i use the shampoo and treatment from this line. they also have a phytotaxil line of products for women. phytotaxil has done wonders for the look of my hair and health of my scalp - i've been using it for a few months now and has worked better than rogaine! (as far as keeping what i have, and making what i do have look nice and healthy) www.phyto.com is the address. i use phytotaxil four times a week and alternate every other day with phytopanama (a very gentle shampoo) to allow my scalp to rest, so to speak. (this has totally reduced the oil on my scalp). about once to twice a week i shampoo twice a day if i notice my scalp becoming too oily. i've been searching for years for a good shampoo (and hair loss treatment) and phyto is honestly the best product i have ever used. be sure to use the products for at least a month before seeing results.
vitamins: i take "potent 75" from puritains pride (www.puritan.com). and an extra 300 mg of PABA, 50 mg of B-6, 400 mcg of folic acid (don't take more than 800mcg of this a day), 500 mg magnesium, 5mg of maganese, 600-1200 mg of calcium with vitamin d, 250mg inisitol and choline, essential amino acids (50mg each - puritan has a product that offers this) 800 iu of E, and 500 mg C (this is essential for absorption of the B vitamins). i take the potent 75 and about half of these in the morning and the other half at night. these are all vitamins that i have read are good for the hair - the doses are high because if your hair is falling out it can be an indication that your body needs more of these nutrients than "normal". don't forget to be consistent and take them for at least four months to see results - hair growth is cyclical and you won't notice immediate results. the vitamins have seemed to help my hair in appearance and with less fall out.
additionally, rotate different meats (and fish) in your diet during the week (to capture all the different proteins and amino acids your body needs). don't forget different vegetables and fruits (a great way to cleanse your cells of "junk") and don't over carbohydrate ... this can contribute to oily scalp.
