I would like to become a hair stylist.  In this field, how valuable is an Associate's Degree in Cosmetology (2 yrs full-time at a highly-reputable community college)?  This program is about one-third the price of my local Paul Mitchell School or Aveda Institute (both take less than one year to complete).

Which would be smarter in this industry...two years for a more in-depth education OR one year education to pass the boards plus one year in-salon experience?  Is an Associate's Degree considered better than a beauty school Certificate in the hair industry?

Any advice would be appreciated!
