Celebrity British Hairdresser - Andrew Barton - hairdresser for Kylie Minoque and Supermodel Kate Moss - has developed the Sunsilk Style Collection which consists of a series of seven DIY hair products for both naturally curly and straight hair.
This is a departure from the current trend to develop products that specialize...either for naturally curly or for straight. Not usually for both since each hair type is very different.
Part of the new Sunsilk Style Collection is Curls & Waves Bounce. It includes shampoo, conditioner and defining mousse which is billed as helping natural curls and waves achieve natural bounce with a soft, manageable finish. Really? I guess time will tell after users with natural curls have had their way with the product.
The Sunsilk products for straight hair has the Straight & Sway range which is also a shampoo, conditioner, gel cream and texturizing wax.
Both the naturally curly and straight Sunsilk product ranges rely on a key ingredient called beeswax energizers, which adds volume to hair strands, giving it the ability to maintain a particular style and resist tangling. These beeswax energizers also protect hair from both external environmental factors and the stress over-styling puts on hair.
According to Barton his thoughts for hair in 2009 include the idea that "low maintenance" hair fashion is out and "high maintenance" hair fashion is in. Andrew says that "the year ahead will see hair take on new codes of wearability". According to Barton this means changing and transforming one's hair in different ways".
Hmmmm....maybe not.
With the economy the way it is...it appears that hair consumers are looking for low maintenance which translates to low maintenance costs.
What's your opinion? Can a hair care product line work equally well for both straight and naturally curly hair? Do you think 2009 will bring high maintenance hair or a more practical low key approach?
