An argument over a hair straightener is believed to have started a tragic chain of events ending in the death of Sydney teenager Susan Worrall.

The 18-year-old was stabbed to death in her western-Sydney home during an altercation with her sister last week.

Kathleen Worrall has been arrested over the stabbing and charged with murder.

Friends told News Limited newspapers that the two had been close, however the 20-year-old had been under increased pressure at the time of the incident.

"Her entire (life) Kathleen was bullied about being obese and later lost weight at the gym," a friend said.

"Her sister was considered to be the perfect one and that often upset (her) that she was always getting the attention."

An argument is believed to have ensued at the time of the stabbing and may have been related to an item including a hair straightener.
