i don't know about ya, but i'm determined this year to get my body is shape for the summer.. I've been running 6 miles a day with my miniture dashund b/c he needs to calm all his excitement down (he's 1 y/o) and i need to burn some calories (killing two birds with one stone).. I can't be having all this banging hair and not have a banging body to go along with it.. I've paid all this money for the surgery i had so its important to maintain my investment..

Not to mention since i had that blood clot incident, i wasn't allow to eat certain things like anything green, which put salads out.. now i've not been back to my regular weight since i've recovered.. now i'm determined to get it all back in top shape.. and those considering PS need to think along these terms, b/c its an expensive investment that it must be kept up..just b/c you get PS doesn't mean its over, you gotta keep your investment in shape..

so i'm just saying let's support each other in our diets and exercise routines to get it together and be totally fierce from hair to toes.. so who's up for the challenge? i've decided instead of sitting my butt behind this computer i'm going to be working it out! so if i'm not on as much that's why? i'd like to see us support each other and get a LF Diva's body challenge going on to be the hottest diva's we already know we are for summer 2008.. who's on board?

i'm serious i 'm like a size 8 which isn't bad, but when your clothes are a size 6 and 4 its a problem.. plus i gave away my fat clothes LOL so its for real now.. i forgot to say i'm doing 45 min of pilates and toning with weights alternating days, and i'm eating low carbs.. i've also been doing the http://www.nopalina-nopalina.com/ which i mix with oatmeal b/c i can't drink it straight but it keeps my cholestrol and everything in check and keeps you very regular.. not like laxative's but it flushes your body out!!!!! i love that b/c it makes my tummy very flat.. and it does help you loose weight.. another thing i've been doing that helps with my blood circulation is taking cayenne pepper pills, and it doesn't heat you up on the inside but it does speed up the metabolizism.. and also so does apple cider vinder pills.. sexibeach2008-04-13 18:52:55

drinking nothing but water, i had to let the pepsi go i love it but it terrible for you, so i gotta have my wine so i let that go.. LOL here's information on weight loss and cayenne pepper which is also a great ingredient for promoting hair growth too:

cayenne pepper pills:
Helps to soothe the digestive tract.
Promotes better circulation throughout the body.
Contains capsaicin with pain-relieving benefits.
High quality standardized extract.
Doctor approved formulation.
A few studies suggest that chemical compounds in cayenne have the ability to increase the body's heat production, whereby increasing the rate of metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. Additional research also indicates that cayenne increases production of epinephrine and norepinephrine which together decrease appetite. For dieters it has been suggested that adding 6 to 10 grams of cayenne to a meal or 28 grams to an entire day's diet reduces hunger after meals and reduces calories consumed during subsequent meals.

Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for ages and has proven itself safe and effective for helping many health issues. This product is so safe, it can be used for children with weight problems and people with high blood pressure and diabetes! Folks there is no excuse now! Lose the fat that is contributing to your health problems. The vinegar is made from fresh natural apples that contain pectin, a soluble fiber which binds to cholesterol globules and pulls them out of the body. This also helps remove unwanted heavy metals! Less fat and cholesterol in the body reduces the risk of just about any ailment! It works 24 hours a day to help your body remove unwanted fat. There are no side effects. We do recommend that you drink 2-3 glasses of extra water daily to help your body flush this fat out and speed up the weight loss process.

ACV comes in pills too b/c i can't drink that either

There's no need in me playing head games with myself and saying I'm gonna start running cuz I hate running it ain't gonna happen. HOWEVER, I do love pilates and gymnastics. I also have 2 huge dogs that I need to walk more often so that will help too. I've been eating more protein and less carbs and have dropped almost 10 pounds already. I'm a size 6 but I still wanna drop another 10 pounds so I can comfortably get back into a size 5. I'm with you guys. Now how do we intend to chart our progress? Are we gonna do before and after photos or post our stats (weight, body fat percentage, etc.) ???0- "(!0 $ .<@` %$ `` %2 ,%!$%$ %)4` ($

Ok, I'm hatin' on you size 5, 6, 7, 8 complaining over here,  Wink I need to lose like 20 lbs by June 27th.  My cousin is getting married in Jamaica and I'm a bridesmaid along with two other women.  The entire bridal party including the bride have sizes in the single digits.  Me on the other hand........... so I'd like to lose 20 lbs, it still wouldn't be my ideal weight but I'd be the weight I was before I had my son, mind you he's about to be 2 in the end of may. Confused I decided to set short-term goals so I don't drive myself crazy over the total number of pounds I need to lose.  Sexi, thanks for sharing some of your tips.  Weight Watchers has worked for me in the past but I'm going to jump start it with a low carb diet for faster results for the wedding.

I've heard of sparkpeople, it was recommended on a bridal board I'm a member of still.

ITA that running is the BEST way to jump start the process and I think I would get faster results but I've always hated it Confused But now there is that little benefit you mentioned about running up on some menzs LOL Okay, here's what Imma do.....I already trained both my dogs how to run on their leashes next to my bike while I ride so I think I'll do that and if I ride up on a real cute guy I could let their leashes get tangled up together so I have to stop and untangle them. Naaaah......never mind that might look a little desperate.

I just got back from a Popeyes run and I immediately get this reality check. Count me in.

I hear what you're saying about taking care of your plastic surgery investment too because I just had a follow-up with my surgeon last week. I'm doing good, but you're right.

Plus I've got Vegas coming up in June and a cruise coming in October. I've got to be ready. I need to tone up a LOT.   < -, aaja4 0 %6$ b %. b` .<-$-,$, , -,

I'm on board. It isnt about the number/size - its the body fat... I am about an 8 ( sometimes 10) & def need to tone it up. I started astanga yoga last month & am ready to drag my behind out of bed before work to do pilates starting tomorrow...I try to walk my boxer as much as possible, ride my stationary bike  & for the first time in my life ( sob) am watching what I eat - cut back on chips & candy bars & general "bad foods" & I gave up red meat about  6 mos ago.  I refuse to starve myself tho- I watch my friends & think - OK health & appearance are important - health moreso but life is short, I sister needs to eat. The lollipop head look aint sexy.

Okay my sisters count me in.  I have already been working out since August 1st of last year I made a promise to myself that I was going to get my act together.  With me being only 5'1 I looked like a butterball ham instead of something sexy...lol

So my ultimate goal is to lose 100 pounds and so far I now have a little under 70 pounds to go, as for my dress size I have not been a size 4 or 5 since Abe was a boy...lol... so I am not going to be unrealistic by trying to get to that size.  However because I satrted to body build all over again I know that the muscle is going to weight more than fat.

So here is an example of what i do so far as I have never been a long distance runner, always a sprinter or 50 yard dashes in high school.
I work out 5 days a week 2 hours per session.  1 hour consisting of nothing but cardio and crunches and strecthing in between, then the next hour consist of weight lifting and body sculpting.  On cardio I vary the workouts so I do not get bored and I never get bored with lifting weights in fact I find it to be a real turn on.  LOL

I also have changed my eating habits which includes not eating the candy bars and white cake and ice cream.  I have replaced them with steamed veggies, fish, some poultry, no beef at all and a few protein drinks along with adding a tablespoon of pure virgin coconut oil to my smoothies in the morning.  Coconut oil helps to improve circulation and assist in keeping your cholesterol in check not to mention the benefits for your skin and hair.  I may or may not have plastic surgery in the future but for now I am willing to work hard to get my bod in shape before I step back on the vocal stage again.  In other words..."I am bringing sexy back".  LOL

So ladies let's do the dayum thing....count me in Sexi...

Oh this is great.  Something to get my mind off my failed wig attempts.  I'm on the small side but I REALLY need to get a bit of definition and toning in the arms and thighs plus this mini muffin top aint cute!  I used to take exotic dance exercise classes and I loved it ( so did my hubby Wink, ya'll have got to try it), but I missed a few classes and you kow how that goes.  If I could stop putting those sugar laden snacks in my mouth and hop on all of my exercise equipment sitting right behind me, I'd be on way to that bangin body Sexi's talking about.  We've got to motivate one another cause it's hard geting started. Hey Sexi,

Count me in!  I'm starting south beach again tomorrow.  I have another 15 to lose and then I'll go sit down.  I'm an 8 like you, but wishing I was a 6.  I am going to ride the bike for 10 miles a day plus a weight circuit for 30min at the gym twic e a week, plus a yoga tone class at least once a week.  Now you are on your own with the 6 mile running Shocked.  My puppy is hyper too, but I'm not trying to run six miles unless someone is chasing me with a weapon LOLLOLLOL

Corset training is wear one wears a custom made garment usually 3 to 4 sizes smaller than your actual waist.  This garment can be used under or oer your clothing and made out of cotton twill, satin, or velvet in various colors.

You can wear your corset if you are up to it over your outfit or under to your place of work and taking it off at the end of the day.  Women should keep in mind that you do not want to start off wearing this type of garment too tight if you have never worn one before as this unit can cause some discomfort.  Once you start to acieve your overall look you will be pleased and you will be amazed at how you start to look in the mirror the first time you put it on.  Our other halfs aka men seem to enjoy putting these one their women due to the hourglass shape it starts to give you.  You can check out various sites for corsets I get mine from shapercorset.com.

I will be happy to answer any questions my sisters may have regarding corset training.  I hope this helps a little.

Oh, okay. I've heard of this before. I have a Vietnamese friend who did this within hours of giving birth to her daughter in keeping with their cultural tradition. They called it "binding". I was amazed because her waist was back to it's normal size withing 2 months of giving birth and she wasn't even working out.

Thanks for the web address. I'm gonna go check it out right now.

I have a squeem too but I find it does not work for me like the real corset.  The squeem is rubber with plastic rods and the corset has steel.  Maybe I need to order the squeem in a real small size.  What size did you order it in?  Because maybe that is the trick although I only use it at night to sleep in.

Let me know sis.

[/QUOTE]

You are welcome my sister; however the binding asian and other cultures do is not of the same material as a corset.  Your corsets were worn in the 1800 when women had no other choice than to wear dresses and bussells.  But let me know what you think of the corsets I can also give some sites that go into more detail about waist training with a corset.

When it comes to corset training I know my stuff on this one.  TongueWink

Curly all the women in my family "bound" their waist after they had kids. I think many women all over the world do it. It really helps to put everything back in its place.

Multivitamins and Mineral Therapy for Obesity

Some doctors believe that multivitamin/mineral supplements, combined with a healthy food and exercise plan, can help. They find that the struggles of overweight people are often brought on by a combination of poor general nutrition and dieting that leaves them feeling fatigued and craving food.

When people don't feel good mentally and physically, they often eat sweets to try to feel better, only to find themselves feeling worse. The first line of defense is getting proper exercise and nutrition.

With the diets such as high protein diet, people may not begetting enough of the important nutrients by skimping on important dietary elements such as fruits, vegetables and dairy.

According to nutritionists, all the most popular diets (those emphasizing high or low levels of protein, carbohydrates and fat) lead to deficiencies in important vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamins A and C, thiamin, iron and calcium. Low-calorie diets, typically lack folate, vitamin B6, magnesium and zinc. It is strongly suggested that you take a vitamin supplement if you are following any of these diet regimen.

Multivitamin/mineral supplements are important for those who are overweight, dieting or not. Many overweight people are nutritionally deficient.

Antioxidants: Vitamin A, C and E

Some researchers believe that overweight people have lowered immunity. This could be from deficiencies of vitamins and minerals, especially the antioxidants.

According to a study done in Poland, overweight people may not be reaping antioxidant benefits. Researchers at the National Institute of Food and Nutrition in Warsaw studied 102 overweight women and found that the women had significantly lower levels of the antioxidant vitamins C and E, as well as of vitamin A, and a higher prevalence of overall vitamin deficiency than those of normal weight.

These deficiencies are at least partially responsible for depressing immunity in overweight individuals, leaving them more susceptible to cancer and infectious illness, say some researchers.

And because of abnormal hormone activity, overweight people may also have greater need for antioxidants than people who are not overweight. Studies show that the excess fat in people who are very overweight drives estrogen production up and testosterone down, a deadly combination that scientists believe could be a major factor in certain female reproductive cancers.

Fruits and vegetables are great dietary sources for antioxidants.  Vegetables and fruits with bright orange coloring, such as sweet potatoes, carrots and cantaloupe, are rich in beta-carotene (a precursor of vitamin A). Broccoli, brussels sprouts and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. Wheat germ and kale are good sources of vitamin E.

Dosage:
Daily supplements of 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C
400 international units of vitamin E
25,000 international units of vitamin A.

Caution: Vitamin A can be toxic in high doses. Taking 10,000 international units of vitamin A daily in early pregnancy can cause birth defects. So, consult a doctor before embarking on a mega vitamin therapy, especially if you are a woman of childbearing age. Pregnant women should not use this therapy.

B-Vitamins

All the B vitamins, as well as lecithin, are essential for healthy weight loss. B complex vitamins help produce energy and relieve stress and depression. Lecithin enables fats, such as cholesterol, to be liquefied and expelled from the body.

Recommended Dosage

Vitamin B complex, 50 mg three times daily
Lecithin, 3 tbsp. (1,200 mg 3 times daily, before meals.)

Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B-5)

In a clinical trial a group of one hundred subjects taking 2,500 mg vitamin B-5 four times daily, lost two and a half pounds a week over several months with no side effects.

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)

Scientists believe that many humans are genetically predisposed to obesity. They say that one of they way this happens is by having a low levels of serotonin. A considerable body of scientific evidence demonstrates that brain serotonin levels have a major influence on eating behavior. Serotonin controls the way we feel about being satisfied with the food we eat. It tells us to stop eating after we are full. When we have a shortage of serotonin, our brain do not tell us to stop eating. As a result, we keep eating (like pigs) that ultimately leads obesity.

Serotonin, in the brain is produced from 5- HTP which, in turn, is produced from triptophan by enzymes present in our body. When we are deficient in this enzyme, our body does not produce enough 5-HTP and serotonin.

Animal studies have shown that administering 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) literally turns off hunger and the craving for food.

In a study conducted at The University of Rome, 5- HTP supplementation reduced calorie intake and promoted weight loss in women who, otherwise, made no conscious effort to lose weight. They lost an average of 3 pounds weight during the five-week period of 5-HTP supplementation.

Another study sought to determine whether 5-HTP helped overweight individuals adhere to dietary recommendations. Women were placed on a 1,200-calorie diet for the second half of a week trial. Half of them also were given 5-HTP supplementation and the other half received a placebo (throughout the 12 week period). The women who took the placebo lost 2.28 pounds, while the women who took the 5- HTP lost 10.34 pounds.

5-HTP appeared to promote weight loss by promoting satiety-the feeling of satisfaction-leading to fewer calories being consumed at meals.

In another study involving 5-HTP (300 mg three times per day), for the first six weeks there were no dietary restrictions, and for the second six weeks the women were placed on a 1,200-calorie-per- day diet. The results from this study were even more impressive. The group that received the 5-HTP had lost an average of 4.39 pounds at six weeks and an average of 11.63 pounds at 12 weeks. In comparison, the placebo group had lost an average of only 0.62 pounds at six weeks and 1.87 pounds at twelve weeks. It appeared that the women in the control group had difficulty adhering to the diet. Ninety percent of the 5-HTP group reported having no problem maintaining the diet.

Recommended Dose:

100-300 mg three times a day. If you experience nausea or other side effects, reduce the dosage.

Chromium

Chromium plays a key role in increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Without chromium, insulin's action is blocked, blood sugar levels are elevated, and thermogenesis is inhibited.
Since increasing insulin sensitivity is a critical goal in promoting weight loss, chromium supplementation would be quite beneficial in people trying to lose weight.

According to the latest research, chromium picolinate may help build lean tissue and reduce fat in adults who exercise.

In one study, patients were given chromium bound to picolinic acid (chromium picolinate) in one of the following three doses daily for two and one-half months: 0 mcg (placebo), 200 mcg, or 400 mcg. The patients who took chromium picolinate lost an average of 4.2 pounds of fat. The group that took the placebo lost only 0.4 pounds. Even more impressive was the fact that the chromium groups gained more muscle (1.4 vs. 0.2 pounds) than those taking the placebo. The results were most striking in elderly subjects and in men. The men who took chromium picolinate lost more than seven times as much body fat as those who took the Placebo (7.7 vs. 1 pound). The 400-mcg dose was found to be more effective than the 200 mcg dose (by about twenty-five percent).

In another study of 59 college-age students at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, researchers found that women taking 200 micrograms of chromium picolinate a day gained almost twice as much lean body mass as those who did not take the supplements. This can result in long-term reductions in body fat, since lean body mass burns more calories than fat.

These results are well-documented in animal studies. Although chromium will benefit only those who are deficient, most people in Westernized countries receive only 25 percent of the Daily Value of 120 micrograms. So a lot of people are deficient.

Chromium also improves the effectiveness of insulin. For this reason, chromium may also be helpful in preventing diabetes, which is common in people who are overweight. People with diabetes who take chromium should be under medical supervision, since their insulin dosage may need to be reduced as their blood sugar levels drop.

Take plenty of whole-grain cereals, black pepper, cheeses and brewer's yeast. They are rich sources of chromium.

Recommended Dosage
50 to 400 micrograms of chromium picolinate supplements daily.

Zinc

It's well-documented that zinc, a mineral found in wheat germ, seafood and whole grains, frequently gets left by the wayside when calorie intake dips below 1,200.
Zinc deficiency depresses the immune system and causes brittle, dry hair and hair loss.
So, if you are overweight and experience any problems with your hair, nails, gums or skin, experts recommend supplementing 20 milligrams of zinc a day.

Recommended Dosage:
15 and 30 milligrams of zinc daily.
For the best results, take 1 milligram of copper for every 10 milligrams of zinc.

Caution: Daily doses of more than the Daily Value of 15 milligrams of zinc warrant medical supervision.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is an essential compound required in the proper transport and breakdown of fat into energy.

Clinical studies have shown that CoQ10 may help promote weight loss. In one study coenzyme Q10 levels were found to be low in fifty-two percent of overweight subjects tested. Treatment with 100 mg of CoQ10 was found to accelerate weight loss resulting from a low-calorie diet.

Recommended Dosage: 100-300 mg of CoQ10 per day.

Magnesium

Magnesium is essential for every major biological function, including your heartbeat. Magnesium supplementation is useful to treat the muscle cramps that people get when they're trying to lose weight. It also seems to curb sweet cravings.

Good dietary sources of magnesium include seafood, green vegetables and low-fat dairy products.

Recommended Dosage
250 and 500 milligrams of magnesium daily.

Caution:

Iron

Iron is found to be deficient in people on low-calorie dieting. That is especially true with premenopausal women.

Iron deficiency can cause iron-deficiency anemia, which, in turn, can cause headaches, shortness of breath, weakness, heart palpitations and fatigue.

Good dietary sources for iron include steamed clams, Cream of Wheat cereal, tofu and soybeans.

Recommended Dosage:
15 milligrams a day, particularly for adults who are following a low-calorie diet to lose weight.

Calcium

Calcium is another mineral that's often in short supply in those who are trying to shed extra pounds.

Experts suggest making sure that you're getting the Daily Value of calcium, which is 1,000 milligrams; women who are past menopause should aim for 1,500 milligrams daily.

Medium Chain Triglycerides

Medium chain triglycerides (MCTS), extracted from coconut oil,  are special types of saturated fats that range in length from six to twelve carbon chains. Unlike regular fats, MCTs actually promote weight loss. MCTs have been found to save 50 percent of the calories compared to a similar intake of long chain triglycerides.

In order to gain the benefit from MCTs, a diet must remain low in LCTs. Use MCTs (coconut oil or other products containing MCTs) as an oil for salad dressing, as a bread spread, or simply taken as a supplement. Coconut oil is an important herb used in Ayurvedic Medicine. Ayurvedic physicians often prescribe that coconut oil be massaged on the body.

Recommended Dosage: 1 to 2 tablespoons per day.

[For more information on MCTs, please see coconut oil under Herbs for Obesity.]

Essential fatty acids

Flaxseed oil, primrose oil, and salmon oil are good sources. Use these with a low-fat diet to provide essential fatty acids, needed by every cell in the body and for appetite control.

Carnitine

Carnitine helps transport fats in the bloodstream into the mitochondria (where the cellular energy or power produced) for burning. It has the ability to break up tat deposits and aids in weight loss. It also helps to reduce cravings for sweets and fats. Though the body naturally produces carnitine, people who are overweight rarely make enough.

In clinical trials, overweight volunteers taking 200 mcg of chromium picolinate with 100 mg of L- carnitine daily, plus vitamins and minerals, have been shown to average a 15- pound weight loss in eight weeks. This combination was observed to increase their metabolism as well.

Dose: Take 500 milligrams two to three times daily, in conjunction with exercise.

Other Useful Neutraceuticals

Dehydroepiandrosterons (DHEA)
Inhibits an enzyme that is involved in fat production.

DL-phenylalanine (DLPA)
The amino acid phenylalanine stimulates the metabolism and helps suppress the appetite.
Dosage: Take 500 milligrams of DL-phenylalanine (DLPA) once or twice daily for three weeks.

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
Suppresses cravings and has antidepressant qualities.

L-Arginine and L-ornithine plus L-lysine
These amino acids decrease body fat.
Dosage:
500 mg each or as directed on label, before bedtime. Take on an empty stomach with water or juice. Do not take with milk. Take with 50 mg vitamin Bs and 100 mg vitamin C for better absorption.
Caution: Do not take these if you have diabetes. Do not take arginine or ornithine without lysine.

L-Glutamin
Lessens carbohydrate cravings.

L-Methionine
Assists in the breakdown of fat.

L-Phenylaianine
An appetite suppressant that tells the brain you are not hungry.
Take on an empty stomach as directed.
Caution: Do not take this supplement if you are pregnant or nursing, or suffer from panic attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure, or PKU.

L-Tyrosine
Suppresses cravings and has antidepressant qualities. It stimulates the thyroid and strengthens metabolic function.
Dosage: Take 500 milligrams of L-tyrosine each morning or at bedtime for three weeks.
Caution: Do not take tyrosine if you are taking an MAO inhibitor drug. A sudden and dangerous rise in blood pressure may result. Also do not use this supplement if you have a thyroid disorder.

Pyruvic acid
Pyruvic acid helps the body to bum calories more effectively.
Dosage: Take a total of 5,000 to 6,000 milligrams (5 to 6 grams) daily.

Therapeutic Recommendations

Overweight people have special vitamin and mineral needs, especially if they're trying to lose weight. Here's what experts recommend.

Calcium 1,000 milligrams, 1,500 milligrams for postmenopausal women
Chromium 50-200 micrograms (chromium picolinate)
Copper 1.5-3 milligrams (1 milligram for every 10 milligrams of zinc)
Iron 15 milligrams
Magnesium 250-500 milligrams
Vitamin A 25,000 international units
Vitamin C 1,000 milligrams
Vitamin E 400 international units
Zinc 15-30 milligrams
Plus a multivitamin/mineral supplement containing the Daily Values of all essential vitamins and minerals

Caution:
If you have diabetes consult a physician before going on chromium supplementation. Your insulin dosage may need to be reduced to compensate for the drop in sugar level.
If you have heart or kidney problems, consult your doctor before taking magnesium supplements.
High dosage of Vitamin should be taken only under medical supervision, especially if you are a woman of childbearing age. Women who are pregnant should not use this therapy.
If you are taking anticoagulants, don't take vitamin E supplements.
Doses of zinc in excess of 15 milligrams daily should be taken only under medical supervision

I'm in.  Thumbs%20UpI have two to three months worth of Nutrisystem foods sitting in my pantry.  At almost $300.00 per month, I need to get cracking and eating on that food and lose some pounds while I'm at it.  I've been maintaining the 25lbs I lost when I first started Nutrisystem by doing low calorie, low fat, high protein diet but I still need to lose another 25 -  30 lbs to feel better about my appearance.  So, starting tomorrow, (I didn't bring the good stuff to work with me today), I'm back on Nutrisystem and incooperating exercise.  I haven't exercised in months which is why I've only maintained my previous weight loss and not lost more.

Hi Ladies,

I'm checking in for day one.  Today I started SBD.  I had two pieces of turkey bacon and water for breakfast, a turkey burger with red. fat cheddar and some lettuce for lunch, vanilla ricotta creme for snack, and a green bean and cheddar omlet for dinner (gross I know Thumbs%20Down).  I have literally been cleaning my house since I got home, so I may wait until tomorrow to exercise.  I had three glasses of water which is HUGE for me and only one small glass of diet pepsi (I need a twelve step program for that stuff!).  I'll at least practice some yoga poses, work on the stability ball and stretch out my back.  How'd I do?

My goal:  To lose 10-15 pounds and be the cutest, long hair flowing, bikini (or tankini) wearing girl on Redondo Beach, CA this summer.

Basically I look like Janet Jackson did when she gained all that well!! Ok! so I'm on the treadmill for 45 mins a day at 3.8 -4.0 mph. and the last 15 minutes of my workout I increase the incline to 4.0.  I do this for 5 times a week.  next week I will incorporate punching the heavy bag for 15 mins.  will do that for 2 months.  At the end of 2 months I"m hoping to have lost atleast 25-30 lbs. then I will start back running!!! Glad to hear that I am not the only only trying to tackle this beast. I started working out in January and so far I have 35lbs. I walk about 2-3 miles a day for at least 4 days out of the week. This month I started weight training. The squats with the dumbells are kicking my arse. Back is sore, thighs sore, booty sore. Even went out and got some ben wa balls to work my "other" muscle. The eating and working out isnt that bad but the coca cola is my downfall. Sexi, I know what you mean about not going home if there isnt enough. My fridge stays stocked. The cigs for me aren't bothering me too bad either. I decided to quit for my birthday in June and I am trying to lose another 20lbs by then. Its crunch time so last week i started my cappucino delight slimfast. mmmm tastes so good and it really does control my carb and hunger for four hours. I also added water to the mix, 3 20oz bottles a day for now. I could probably do more if I could just put those damn cokes down! !$ P Bd T``d $ b

Hello ladies..It was hard for me this morning but I did it. I didn't get off work until 7 pm last night, which meant I worked 12 hours.  I went by Sally's to get my bleaching kit and got home 7:28pm.. I didn't want to workout, but I told myself I have to keep going with this thing, it's only my first day.. So I proceeded to change clothes.. I got my LF bleached it for 20 mins, while I did Turbo Jam for 20 mins.. The turn out was ok, but I was not happy.. I'm going to leave the bleaching to the experts for now. I just won't wear a part anytime soon.

Well I got up this morning at 4:30. Saying Lord, please have mercy on me, I need to get up. Got up and worked out.

I did Turbo Jam for 20 mins
I did 16 repetitions of each below
Traditional Crunch
Pulse Up
Saxon Side Bend
Squat
Bench Press
Bent Over Row
Military Press
Upright Row
Triceps Kickback
Biceps Curl
Had my bowl of cereal and now I'm at work at 6:19pm.
About to take my vitamins in 30 mins...
Can I go home nowConfused

Count me in Family!

I started working out last week and my calves are still burning from my workout from last thursday (ugh).  I'm 6'0 and 148lbs, but after having my son 4 years ago I am flabby.  I never had a gut till after him (lawd have mercy)!  People say, "oh you look good for having 3 kids", then I tell them, "let me take my clothes off, then you won't be saying that" LOL.  I am glad I have encouragement from you guys because I get so lazy after a long day at work and I just want to cook dinner, get the kids together and go to sleep!.  How many days a week are you guys working out?

^^^Shonita: I work out six days a week - Sundays off. That's probably a bit much for most people, especially to start. But, it's great if you do one day cardio, then the next day muscle building. It's probably better to start off slow and steady (consistent) then hit it hard right away; you won't be as sore and ready to give up! We're with you all the way! !$% Cha`!`dr ,$ 4`p !

After thoroughly reading about the master cleanse lemonade diet, I think it would be beneficial for me to do that first before starting my diet regiment.  Spoke to hubby about it and he'd like to do it with me for moral support.
Sexi, I feel you about asking God for strenght and motivation because Lawd knows 10 days in not going to be easy.  I sure do like the idea of eliminating some cravings for certain foods.  That would definitely help me stay on the wagon this time.

I am not sure about the lemonade diet...I watched a documentary on it on TLC. They had 10 ladies in an experiment (5 on the diet, another 5 on healthy balanced meals)...when it was over, the ladies on the master cleanse had not lost anything....they lose the first couple days (water weight) and then gradually maintain the original weight. http://shopping.discovery.com/product-64374.html?jzid=40588005-41-0
The dr who did the experiment has it in a book...you can get the documentary free at your local library.

Good luck to all the ladies though. I stick with excersise and balanced meals that are in smaller potions.

I also throw a little zumba into my workouts here and there when the instructor comes in and yes when I wokr my thighs I work them!!!  I start off with the cycle to warm them up then I go into leg lifts, then to lunges, then to hack squats, then to squats, then to leg presses, then the inner and outer thigh machines.  Now how is that for a workout? Confused  Girl then I have to play toe tag with the excelerator of my car to get home...hehehe  Because all that work makes your legs feel like rubber and that is just for the thighs, but it is worth it in the end.

I am in.  In 05 I lost 20 pounds on a low carb diet and managed to get into a size 4. I have gained ALL of the weight back cause I am lazy. I have only exercised about 3 times this year.  And since I work from home now I am constantly stuffing my face with junk food. I need to regain control over my body. I promised myself that I  will go to the gym in my building and try to speedwalk at least 3 miles on the treadmill this evening. Please Pray for me. fallenangel

I am soooooooo mad at you right now AngryAngryAngryAngry  I called myself being inspired and hopped on the treadmill to run a mile.  Let me preface this story by saying that I don't run from one corner of my bedroom to the other corner.  There were all these high school girls running real hard and then switching to the bike and then the elliptical machine.  Well....I barely made it a half a mile and then my thighs were on fiyahhhh!  I was sore before I stepped off the machine LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL  I'm going to read Monique's book "Skinny B*tches Are Evil!"

You all are inspirational. Sexi...I feel you on wanting to go all out and exercise every day to get your mind into it. that's how I was years ago --- a little obsessive, but I guess you need to be at first! I think if you can keep exercise up daily for at least two weeks, you've created a habit that will be hard to break and it will make you feel guilty to stop. I loved watching the Biggest Loser & Ali's success! What a great story. Yeah, then I head over to Dancing w/Stars to see the hard bodies and keep my head straight! LOL

One thing I have noticed with maintaining fitness & health (for me pesonally). It doesn't help to TELL a lot of other people what you're doing. People have a way of sabotaging you. Not sure if they mean to, but I find a lot of women give me the evil eye when I tell them I have to go home and workout before I can go out for the night or go dancing or whatnot. they will try to talk you out of it or make you think your being selfish! Unless people ask me now, I do not share my workout routine. Except with all of you!!!1LOL
