wow......... this is so crazy. It makes you not wanna share. I hate when people make money off YOUR ideas. Wigs are way more complicated then simply slapping them on and off. I truly believe that lace wigs just as great weaves are truly an art. You have to have passion and a sense of creativity.
I have customers who I have done their apps and the application is fabulous, but they do nothing with the hair and say " I want it to look like yours" I say to them you need to have it stlyed to fit YOU. If not, it is just hair.
I love hair, weaves, wigs, makeup , clothes I am a women! I take pride in every customer and treat them well, cause that is what I want as a customer. I believe that there will be MANY come up artist that think that this is an easy buck, have you noticed...everyone is NOW selling wigs. They come to this site and injest all that inofrmation and want quick tips on apllication to make a quick dollar and I am simply tired of it.
Members like Bless, Bhree, Ebony, ladydi, and others have wig business that will and are prospering simply because they have the passion for this business. Not like these fly by nite site and poeple sellings wigs!
I am going to stop now cause I am getting to upset......

#1: kick herself for not doing her own research
#2: feel really hurt that another woman took advantage of them

You're right Meech. I remember some lady posting on BHM that she was a hairdresser and she had just booked a client for the weekend who was going to pay her somethink like $150 to apply a lace wig. She had never done it before so she logged on to BHM to ask the ladies how to do it  She needed her butt kicked and I was glad nobody told her anything. She should have been ashamed. |

yea its appliation, removal and measuring, and looking at colors.. 1,000 bucks its crazy.. i've been asked often why don't i sell them but honestly i don't want the hassle, and plus i would keep all the product for myself.. i wouldn't be able to let them go.. i've had new wigs that i've never worn and i knew i wasn't gonna and let them sit there so i could look at them.. OK i know that's bad, but its true.. plus the scandelous nature of this business and the complaining of some people that you can never satisfy.. i can't be bothered..

Meechie I agree with you 100%. You definitely have to a passion for hair in order to apply and style a lf. You also have to enjoy doing it. There are many fly by nite operations out there looking to make a quick buck. You also have to have to be honest and fair with your clients because in the end it will come back to haunt you.

Because I truly believe in this & my business. I have customers whose hairline have faded all the way back to the middle of their head due to traction (from braids/weaves)
I've cut off 16" of my own hair to the bald I love this so much. It has truly been a blessing to me. Yes I understand gettin your hustle on But COME ON now....its like Sexi said, if she gets 2 ppl she'll make a grip. Sexi, Meechie, ITA that this is a shame and a disgrace to charge someone that much $$ for something she learned on the forum. I also have a business with my sister and our prices are reasonable and fair. Lace caps are relatively new in the Seattle area so we try to provide not only products but A1 customer service. This means answering millions of questions from someone who may or maynot purchase, applications and reapplications, tweeking clients units, answering crisis calls when they don't know what to do, etc. But it is more about providing quality customer service. We have a lot of customers with alopecia and hair loss issues and these are the ones that are the most rewarding. To see the look on their faces when they see what they can look like, how good they feel about themselves, well yall know what I mean. So, that's wyh it is worth it to us. I remember that. I was like what da heck!! That is sooo wrong. How are you going to book someone for a job that you don't even know how to do. But I have to fault the consumers as well. Do your own research. I researched lace fronts for years. I finally bought my first one in Jan 2006. Didn't install it myself until February 2008. Knowledge is power.

I agree with you to a certain extent. It's not that anyone is a sucker, it's just uninformed people.
I remember a discussion similiar to this on BHM a while back and I'm sure it's been discussed several times.
Personal I don't knock her either. I charge the same amount for one of my lf classes but there are major differences. To many to list but a few are I'm a certified hair replacement instructor, it's for licensed cosmetologists only, students will become certified with my manufacturer, and materials are included.
I do however, offer my clients the option to be hands on while I am attaching their units so that they can learn to do it themselves. But that's free of charge (the hands on that is.)
I was about to get into something but that's off topic so I'll start my own post.

I continue to be shocked when I visit various LF sites charging more than $600 per unit when we know that 95% of these wigs come straight from 3-5 Chinese vendors. Come on now!

On the other hand...I'm sorry to say it, but anyone who pays that much for some stuff you can learn on the internet for FREE deserves to get ripped off. Personal responsibility. If only they had taken two seconds to Google some stuff, they'd see that paying $1000 to learn how to apply a lace wig is idiotic.

This subject is very touchy and should be looked at from both points of view. First, as a consumer you are buying a product. Items we buy everyday comes from china and is bought cheap and sold high. The only difference is we don't know the original price therefore it is not an issue. Many don't care because its what they want or need. As a consumer, most strive to get the best price possible.
Second, the business owner is selling a product and service. Please be fair to all. How much does it cost for a weave, eyelash, computer class or even how much did it cost for classes when the concepts were new? This is training that prepares you to make money therefore its worth something.
I have seen prices higher and lower than what I am offering for LF. It's an individual's choice. The business owner might have business cost that is associated with the business (rent, supplies, lights, Licsences, employee's, marketing, etc.) Here is Georgia the classes are the about the same in cost. I thank God everyday that I found this site and got the information that I got. I am working on preparing a class for individuals who don't have the knowledge or know how but who would like to offer the services to their clients. I am trying to come up with a fair yet still competitive price for my time and services. I usually train my clients on how to apply their own units because I would like the clients to really enjoy their purchases with out having to give my all their hard earned money.
Just sharing my thoughts!!!!!!!

Alot of you on the board keep forgetting that the board is only .01 percent of people in the WORLD who actually take the time to research boards like this and learn about LFs.
So what you're saying ....If someone spends alot a money it's like telling someone who wants to really learn how to cook (like a
chef) not to go to culinary school and spend $5000, just go read the
electronic version of Betty Crocker for free instead...
I've taught many of classes and they usually go for 8 hours of hands on training for about $800. Though you do receive a unit and kit (lunch and snacks included too), taking the time out to teach about 15 to 20 students at a time and making sure they are doing all the techniques right, such as measurements, bleaching knots, creating a new hairline from a stock, washing, showing the detangling methods and everything else you learn in my hands-on class is well worth the money.
....just my two cents.....LOL

but unfortunately im not sure she does all of this in her classes....

I'm not mad at her. If people want to shell out money instead of doing some research and getting the information for free then thats their business. Shes is just catering to that group of people. Its just like how white women pay $500-600 for weaves that we do ourselves for $75. Even if EVERYONE know about BHM and HB, there would still be people who would pay to have someone show them. If I had the money, I would probably pay to go to a class just so I could see first hand what a vet does to get a great app. But since I don't, I just thank got I found this site so I can get the info I need and practice doing it myself.

And as for the prices of her units, that's just supply and demand. We just happened to know a backdoor. I know one thing, I'm not telling anyone in my town where I get my units. They just have to find out on their own or buy them from me
