Ok, here's my story.
First I got synthetic hair.
BIG MISTAKE.
ew...i hate thinking about it.

Then I got satin strands human hair at sallys
and i got clips
sewed them on myself

Hair looked good.
But, clip ins don't stay in that well, expecially since I go to school, and they are just annoying.

I really want to start using micro rings, but I honestly don't have 1000 dollars to spend at a salon.
I was thinking I could cut the hair off the weft, pre tip it, then do it myself.
I could get all the stuff at sallys... but I'm afraid i'll screw up and ruin my 80 dollar hair when I cut it off the weft.

I also thought about pre tipping it myself, then going to a salon and seeing how much it would be if I provided them with all the supplies.

But..ugh I don't have a wand thing for pre tipping.

HELP, I need a good way to have my hair in, my clips are driving me crazy and I'm on a limited budget!

Have you thought about leaving the hair on the weft and using Liquid Gold or tape to secure it in? It would probably be alot cheaper and faster that way since you already have hair on a weft. If you didnt like it, you could always take it out and then make tips. What is your nautural hair like? That will make a big difference on a good method for you.

well i've heard about using glue
but... i've also heard alot of stories about it making your own hair come out :-/ or damaging the hair and roots.
i've never heard of tape, i'll look into it though, thanks.

my natural hair is kind of a "scene" or "rocker" haircut. and yes i realize that look is lame, i didn't think so at the time I got it cut.
but it's basically..lots of short layers, then some hair thats like 11 inches long, then choppy bangs at the front.

and if i do decide to tip it myself... do i have to use a wand thing?

I tip most of my hair, you'll need keratin pellets & a fusion wand, or a glue gun, and keratin sticks, OR you could try Liquid gold tips, but, the keratin is best IMHO.

I did this when I self installed my micro-rings.

You'll for 100% sure want silicone lined rings (I like large 4.0-4.5 mm personally).
And you'll need a type of hair pliers, and a threader.
You can buy them all in one place...
and since I am in such a good mood, I'll show you a great deal to buy them at...

thanks for the link! all that is much cheaper than at sallys. :D

what does IMHO mean? >.<

I'm pensive about the wand thing, when i ask people they say that most of the ones i'de buy won't work.. since theres alot of crappy ones.

but if I got the hair pretipped then I think i could do the micro thing myself and have a friend help with the back.

but i'm afraid i will cut all the hair off the weft, fail at the tipping thing, then have a bunch of wasted hair :-/

IMHO= In MY Humble Opinion

I have a LOOF one, I bought it for $50.00 on Ebay, it has an adjustable dial
Like this one

I don't see any on Ebay now but have seen them for $20.00 before. They work great.

When cutting the hair off the weft, only cut a small section you will tip, and cut the next piece, tip it, and so on...

Remember to get some Nail Glue (for fake nails) can brush on the nail glue to the created I tip after it cools completely, this reinforces the tip for maximum hold, which is especially great when doing micro rings.

Just make sure when you install the links you don't install them RIGHT against your scalp, and don't let the I tip poke out through the top of the ring (I found this out the hard way ) it hurts like hell if you do!
Good Luck!
