I was so sad to learn how many people were hurt and died from this tragic misfortune. A school bus full of kids.
What the HELL is going on 'round here.
Every other month I see traffic in parking lot standstill mode. I'ts summer and that's when you see the majority of road construction. Traffic slow as hell, and all bunched to one damn side. I have to go over a bridge to get to work. There are bridges over head as well.
I can not swim, and the Mississippi river is right there. How many times have I pushed the thought of plunging into that water out of my mind.
Impossible, this is 2007, these steal beams, rods, physics, pillars and polls, and brilliant technology stand between me and disaster, right? I can not swim!!
Damn that is just messed up...what can you say to this situation. I know every other state is breaking their coccyx to evaluate, and assess what needs to be over hauled and revamped to prvent such a catastrophe in their jurisdiction. Regulations will change now, money won't be an objective now that somebody has died...atleast not for a good while.
Why does catastrophe always have to be the catalyst for change

Yeah thats crazy thats why I avoid old structures whenever possible years of wear and tear usually does it for alot of things I was checking this story out on CNN. And catastrophe will always be a catalyst for change as evidenced here and the hurricane katrina incidents. |

I have a baby brother in MN. I was relieved to say the least that he called us to say he was fine.
I go over 3 highways to get to work, and it is madness, folks suicidal, homicidal, dramacidal....mean and reckless.
Thats bad enough now I must thwart the fear of falling into the MI myself some fine August Evening on the way to the plantation.
Damn I cant swim...This is one of those times when I really do want someone to blame....was it money, not enough people to fix the problems, or just a case of ineptitude?
I can not imagine what went through those motorists minds..."damn is this motherplucker fallen..OMG I'm going to die, thinking bout family, and life flashing b4 your eyes"...WOW
Damn
Maybe I need to learn to swim Anomis2007-08-02 18:01:26

we ge'in stats back now..nationwide about bridges all over that are defficient, and corroded.... man
what else is more important than safety.,
hell train some of my brothers in prison in road work construction, and upon their release atleast they will have a damned trade and improve chances of not re-offending,
and landing back into the penal system.
Free labor, and some job training...but NOOOOOOO the tax payers are going to be all outraged over a program like that...
know why
b/c it's too damn much like right!!!
My only fear of death is reincarnation

They aint going to do that jail is slavery under a controlled environment the prisoners work hard for 25 cents per hour if thats not slavery then I don't know what is. |

Date Posted: Aug 2, 2007 at 8:03pm
thats my point sinse they are being exploited, make it work for all of society.....it's a win win
bridges get the attention they deserve, people are safe, labor is cheap, and my brothers have a marketable trade upon release.
Instead of a worthless 25 cents, and no rehabilitation,
my brothers in prison = Black Gold
arrest the poor and down troden,
this creates prison jobs, so that more folk can pay taxes.
set the govenor of TX and CA on fire.

Thats crazy it isnt until I started working on my criminal justice degree a few years ago that my eyes started opening up they have alot of trades in the prison system they just dont get the proper certification to continue on the outside and it seems like once you have a criminal record they blackball you and you can't get no jobs which forces you to resort to illegal things to sustain yourself and the family the system is designed to hold us back and whoever doesn't agree is naive and foolish the government cant be openly racist so its become alot less physical and more mental. |

thank you for the enlightenment
so that is the barrier to useful training in prison....
Certification-----!
gotta have the credentials, and if you do have a criminal background I can imagine it's rock hard to get a prospective employer to even consider hiring someone who has a conviction.
What about sealing, or expungement, I know there is a waiting period from the time you finish probation etc..
..A conviction cant be expunged, and some convictions are inelligible to be sealed.....the only thing I can think of is incentives to employers for hiring offenders.....

I Love my Brothers, and the majority only needed gainful employment....
I would steal tooif I felt hopeless.
I was hoping part of Obamas platform would include Prison Reform
our brothers and sisters locked up need help to get out and stay out

Nope the for most crimes the criminal record doesnt get expunged unless you committed crimes as a minor then once you turn 18 it's a fresh start so most ex-cons usually have to work "under the books" kind of jobs or they have to jobs that no one else to do if they are eligible such as trash picking and under minimum wage factory jobs I know because when I was a minor I had a criminal record and I had to work the factory loading 75 pound boxes onto trucks from sun up to sun down and Obama can't even talk about that right now when and if he gets elected he can bring up a plan like that if he brings that up now he would lose alot of support. |

Excellent point on Obama
he can not dis that right now betta let it be his hold card, dis it later
too liberal for the moment.
Now I have done some research on the expungement.seal thing.
The law differs on this from state to state. Laws do change but here in IL. Expungements are possible, as long as the conditions are right, for example in IL, a conviction NO conviction AT ALL can EVER be expunged....period.
Sealing is a dofferent matter, after four years certain convictions can be sealed. Again this is in IL....I have researched this through something called the Legal Clinic or something like that here is a link you can check out

O ok I know that as far as Jersey goes an ex-con is pretty much screwed I'm a little rusty on my criminal justice but in alot of states your record can be sealed but if an employer digs hard enough they can find your conviction meaning your still screwed and I think Obama has a trick up his sleeve that he won't bring up until he's president he's black so he understands our plight. |

I hope and pray he will be effective
Which means knowledge
compassion, plan of action,
loyalty to the hard working ,
as well as to those who are burried underneath the poverty level
I want to watch him champion
healthcare reform, prison reform, and affirmative action, immigration
Raeganomics have never been undone, Obama has work to do.
He is going to need blankets of secret service, when he starts doing the job correctly.
I pray that he will continue to be a stand up guy
you know what they say 'all my skinfolk ain't my kinfolk"
Loyalty and alegience to the American.
I hope he will not dishonor himself
and we all pray he will not be assassinated.
Oprah is behind him 100%
Hilary would prolly end up carrying on the legacy of her husband, which allowed the genocide of the tutsi, I know Black folks love them som Clinton, but need I remind them that the tutsi genocide happened on Clintons watch.
So that's one of the reasons I am not gongho on Hilary, but she would be my second choice.

Yeah he seems very ambitious I'm no psychic but I'm pretty sure there will be major changes to alot of things if he's in office to Hiliary's credit I think she would be a great vice-president to run alongside Obama . He definitely has my support alot of people won't be able to see past his skin color though especially in Idaho and Montana(Aryan Nation). |

OMG....them saltines, are out right Klansman.
A black man President of The United States of America, whew!!
and married to a Black woman who looks, sounds like a Black woman.
She looks like a sistah, I went to college with....
A few weeks ago, I saw her giving an intro for her husband, and the whole thing was smoothe, eloquent, ...I mean just beautiful, and then right there at the very tail end she gone bust out and say
...."my baby daddy Barack Obama"
lmbootyoff.............man paint the white house black......and break out the crunk juice lol
But seriously....I am very proud of them.
The first lady always has her own agenda, and folks have already started with the hair weave return policy jokes.....
she can take it though................

Lol at my babydaddy Obama. Black people need some kind of leader because Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and farrakhan aint cuttin it right now and Obama is perfect he has a legitimate shot of being president and the first lady would be the voice of not only black women but for women everywhere Obama is rapidly coming up on Hilary Clinton I think he's down about 10% . |

Yeah its the electoral college votes that count though our votes are counted as popularity votes which sounds like some bull to me. |

Date Posted: Aug 3, 2007 at 4:54pm
yes, and I think it discourages some folkd from voting b/c they feel that their vote won't count.

It definitely discourages me ultimately my vote is just letting the congressman know who is more popular then he can sit at his desk and play table tennis and then pick who he wants. |
