I have straight hair but would like to change it up. I have been thinking about getting a perm to spice it up. I want the option to have curly or straight hair....my hair does not hold a curl when I use the curling iron. I try not to use too much product in my hair because my hair is a little on the fine side. I would like some more volume to my 'do. I recently got a trim where I got all the dead ends cut off so it is very healthy. I am wondering if I should go with spiral curls or what I should do??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Before you make this jump, you need to decide if you're willing to learn how to care for curly hair because it's much different than straight hair.  It requires alot more time and patience and different techniques. 0! ! (bb $40 ),"(`r,"0 " $($ (%,,! $- $(` )2

I am willing to learn, and would really like to. My husband has curly hair and I have a feeling once we have kids they will have curly hair too. I just want to make sure that I do this right.....and I want all the advice I can get. ( !! Ah"*

I can't tell you which would be the best way to go on perms.  The last one I had was about 15 years ago.  Whatever you do, make sure the person doing it knows what they're doing because it's easy to over-do it (especially if you have fine hair) and the hair will literally break off in chunks.

As for learning to care for curly hair, naturallycurly.com is excellent!  They update once a month with new articles.  They also have an archive so you can go back and read past articles.  And most of my writing on my site has to do with dealing with curly hair since mine is curly.
