Thought I'd warn all you gals (and guys) out there about the dangers of abusing your hair...
I have been bleaching my hair for years...the lightest shade of platinum blonde. You could say I'm addicted. It all went fine untill recently I re-bleached my hair. I don't do this in the proper way...everytime I do my roots I just wack the bleach all over (my hair is pretty short) DONT DO THIS
About a week ago I was combing my hair...about 4 weeks since I had last bleached it and I noticed a spot about 3cm x 3cm where the hair had completley snapped off from the roots...leaving me with awful spiky bits of brown hair about 1 cm long...yuk yuk yuk!
I'm now sporting a rather attractive combover, and making sure I never stand to the right of anyone incase it is visible. I was freaked out at first...but now I have learnt to see the funny side as it is entirley my own fault.
Some tips (which have probably been mentioned before...if so...sorry!)
1) NEVER overlap bleach when doing your roots
2)Never bleach your hair more than once in a short space of time
3)Do not think that you can get away with constant bleaching, straightning and blowdrying.
4)NEVER crash diet...this is what I did..I barely ate for a month and I think this may have contributed to my hair loss
5)Eat well, eat plently of protein....I have already noticed the difference
6)immediatley stop bleaching, blowdrying...or anything else harmful to your hair.
7)I have been taking herbal vitamin supplements and drinking plenty of green tea..wheter this does anything I dont know for sure
8) Get a decent conditioner and leave it in your hair overnight
9)Put olive oil on your hair
10)wash with lukewarm water
Hope this may help anyone who has done a similar thing...since doing all this my hair seems to be recovering...Please be careful with your hair...dont abuse it...honestly the feeling when you look in the mirror and disover a bald spot is HORRIBLE!!!
