I live in a dorm at a college.  The water in our communal showers is awful.  It dries my skin out like crazy, but I've wondered about what effects it's having on my hair.  It seems like it's shedding a lot more than normal.

Is there anything I can do about this?? If so, what?? My hair friggin sucks butt.

How many times per week do you wash your hair? decrease the amount of washes and use conditioner, I think that will help.

Man, I have had this problem for a long time - "hair loss due to some types of water". I am very sensitive to certain types of water....varies greatly from city to city..and to some extent even from apt to apt...the freakin' problem is that no dermatologist ever wanna believe this....i spoke to one of the very good ones in Manhattan and he said - "I cannot believe this...never heard about it in my 30 years of experience...probably you are thinking wrong" And I was like DUHHH...

Anyways, I think the only solution is that you have to live in a place where water suits you - thru trial and error.....

I'll be very greatful if anyone can find a solution to this water problem....
