Salerm Wheat Germ Oil Hair Mask: This stuff is AMAZING! My hair hair was so shiny, soft, and full after doing this treatment, it smells like bad perfume and looks kind of gross but it really conditioned my hair.
I did not like the Capilo Honey and Milk conditioner at all it left my hair frizzy and hard. I think I will probably add shea butter, jojoba oil, and glycerin to make it moisturizing and only use it for CONwashes.
The Capilo Silk Protein Shampoo was a nice lathering shampoo it left my hair feeling clean without feeling dry. I will probably use this as a monthly clarifying shampoo.
Lacio, Lacio was a blessing to have; I put it in hair to wrap my hair and my hair was so silky afterwards, flat ironing was a breeze.

i keep hearing about folks talking about these Domincan products, and now i'm curious. two questions:
1. where do you get them from?
2. does it work on natural (4b/c) hair or is it better on a looser curl pattern?

black honey, thanks for the review. i love lacio lacio as well and i actually really enjoy the honey and milk rinse. i use honey and milk for con washes and baggies -- the results are good. i have always wanted to try the salerm wheat germ oil hair mask but everytime i go to order, it's out of stock. good news, glad you found products you enjoy!!

Hi Adora I have 4a/b hair that is relaxed but I think it should still work well on natural hair because it is very moisturizing.

I think that I may have left the rinse in too long, I left it in overnight I might experience and see if just leaving it in for a few min gives me better results

maybe the dominican hair products are for DOMINICAN HAIR! dominicans dont have hair like other african americans,it is usually mixed with hispanic hair due to the makeup of their genes. so it probalby will not always give a consistant outcome.

I will have to disagree my parents are African and I have thick 4a/b hair and my hair loves Salerm 21, Wheat germ oil mask, and Lacio Lacio. What I looked into before buying was the ingredients to tell if it in fact was going to be moisturizing based on what I know my hair likes. I think that everybody's hair is different and what I can use on my hair doesn't nessarily mean it will work for you.
I did a COnwash last night using Capillo m&h mixed with real honey, glycerin, and castor oil and got much better results my hair feels very soft after that.

well my parents are african too,and we have a hard time buying any hair stuff because our hair is so thick and kinky. i was just making the suggestion because i dont think any hair product specified for a race or ethnic group is any different from generic or "white" hair products.
blackhoney-read the topic on marketing and black hair products that i started and you might see where im coming from with this.the other ladies gave a lot of insight too!

Hair type... especially among black people is not something set in stone. Black Africans, Black Americans, Black Dominicans, Blacks in England... all can have any type from 1a to 4b. Most black people are mixed. There are a lot of mixed race blacks in Africa as well. Also, one doesn't have to be bi-racial or very "mixed" at all to have a more loosely curled hair type.
I just don't agree with there being a "black" hair type. Just as there is no such thing as a "white" hair type because their hair ranges from straight to very curly as well.
Some products work for people and not for others because all of our hair is different and has different needs. Even two 4b's can have totally different hair that responds to different things.
It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they are made for Domincans though. They just don't agree with your hair.

My hair responds well to dominican products and both my parents are black. I'm not mixed with anything. I'm a 3c/4a with dry hair. ! ! @ ana$ pe ",`r . b` ).% ----! $-- 0b` ).

From what I understand these products are not available in stores. But there are some web stores, I came across two , www.Ibeauty.com out of New York, but I saw the same products cheaper at www.pelobonito.com, from Miami.

I had been ordering it from ibeauty.com but now they sell it a ValueCity near me so I don't order online anymore. I don't have the bottle of wheat germ mask in front of me but I can tell you it does not contain mineral oil or petroleum. And I now love the smell lol  $- P cn`dp0% 00BB .(4`p /. % ,)!,$-$)), b` ",

I am of Nigerian descent and I can use a select number of Dominican products with no problems. I noticed that my hair doesn't care for products with a lot of protein. It makes my hair dry and brittle over time. Hence I focus on moisturizing products with little to no protein. I can also use mainstream products like Biolage. Biolage has worked consistently for my hair off and on for years.

i have been reviewing the dominican products.
i was wondering if anyone knows the difference between
a conditioner and a cream rinse.
Are they both the same thing?
when do you use a cream rinse instead of a conditioner.

Hi kellie, conditioners are usually thick and creamy & a rinse is a lighter, more fluid consistency. I use Kiehls coconut rinse after doing my deep conditioning because it helps to smooth the cuticle but doesn't weigh the hair down so there is still bounce to it. I tried using Capillo milk and honey rinse but the mineral/peotreleum disagreed with my hair. HTH $- P cn`dp0% 00BB .(4`p /. % ,)!,$-$)), b` ",

I just tried Silicon mix! I don't know why I waited to try this product because it is amazing! I was alittle put off by mineral oil being the 2nd ingredient (i avoid petrolem & mineral oil like it was the plague lol) but I mixed it with Misskeys 10en1 and it was a wonderful moisturizing protein treatment. (smells like soft baby powder not overpowering at all) I was able to detangle the hair with my fingers and the hair felt moisturized and strong at the same time...this may have to replace Aphogee Intensive treatment. My hair is still sooo soft today I can't keep my hands off it!
*Highly recomend for transitioners and all.

I noticed that some of these products use Petrolatum or Mineral Oil as their 2nd or 3rd ingredient and for me it contributed to a tacky feeling and no real moisture so I think that's why Salerm may be so great for some people-it doesn't have petroleum products in it. |
