For some reason all of a sudden I am starting to get all these phone calls and emails from manufacturers in Peru that want to "sell me their hair from Peru for extensions".  I didn't think that extension hair came from Peru?  Has anyone used hair from Peru and what's the quality like?  I get lots of calls and emails from a lot of places about extension hair but this Peru thing is a new one. Actually I am waiting for a sample of some hair from peru.  The woman I emailed definitely was from peru and gave me a phone number in peru.  This was a direct supplier and I think she was fairly new to alibaba where I found her. It's a lot more expensive than indian hair.

Thanks CherryCoke,

They offered to send me samples but once I agree, they will probably hound me to buy and I was unsure if that was the direction I wanted to go.  It if is extraordinary hair...it might be worth it.  Or maybe not.

Please let me know what you think when you get your samples.

That should be very interesting!! I wonder what Peruvian hair is like and from which ethnic/socioeconomic group it comes from.

Please keep up posted, Cherrycoke.

I've seen very pretty hair extension sites based in Brazil, and other places. Was never sure if it was worth the trouble of trying to order from them, though.

My best friend is from peru and has very nice hair its
SOOOOOOOOOO thick!!!!!!!! and long but it gets dry from
blowdrying it , i would say its kinda like indian natural hair , but
thats just a guess.... lemme know how it goes.

I was thinking if it's anything like the Hispanic hair I see around here on the Mexican women, it should ROCK. They have the most beautiful thick, shiny and soft hair that grows like a weed. It can take all kinds of bad home chemical jobs and six months later, it's all regrown to their elbows. Same with the boys. I have students show up in bleached and dyed pink mohawks and in a month it's back to chin length like nothing ever happened. Great hair in that gene pool.

Hi Karen

I think we may have contacted the same place Cherrycoke...I
also have samples on there way. The quote prices were very
high....even higher than a Russain supplier!! I had to check it
out and see what could cost more than Russian hair.

Hi SAS

So good to see you.  Hope you are having a great week.

I was talking to a friend who does hair extensions last nite about the Peru hair.  He also said it was, in his opinion, more expensive than Russian hair but that it was generally thick and lush.  He seemed to feel that the advantage might be that the hair would be potentially more virginal hair from the view of minimal chemical use.  I guess I find that a little odd.  They must use chemicals on their hair in Peru.  :-)

Anyway....it will be interesting to see how the Peru hair makes an impact on the current market.

I received my hair samples from Peru. I washed the samples
and finger scrunched them and let them air dry before making
any decisions. The hair did have this strong odour, which was a
little off putting. That was my only complaint about the hair...but
I am used to it because I order raw hair all the time from
overseas.

When I first looked at the straight hair from Peru I thought it was
high-end naturally straight Indian hair. Indian hair has so many
textures from fine to coarse. It felt very slick like the healthy thick
Indian hair (which is very hard to get). I can order many kilos of
Indian hair and only get a handful of that very nice thick, slick
ponytails. That

Hi Karen,

Well, I have never seen hair from Peru before but it had a
stronger smell than usual. My Indian hair comes smelling of
mothballs as they throw a handful in the box before transit. I
take all the hair out the box and let it all air out for a week till the
mothball smell has gone. Then I give it a treatment, good
couple washings & conditionings and it comes out nice
smelling. I usually wash & condition a total of 4 times
before I would use it for extensions. I am super picky about the
smell of hair

Pooey. I can't see your photo.

Can you send the direct link?

I too got my sample and peru hair is the bomb!

The curly is awesome!  This is completely like nature girl but the wefts are thicker!  I've never had Bliss hair, but it looks like the photos of it.  I will definitely be ordering this stuff next time I need more hair.  It's really more expensive for buying directly from the supplier but still cheaper than bliss and naturegirl.  The only difference I see from nature girl, is the hair is a little bit thicker around.  The naturegirl hair I got has skinnier individual strands.  These curls might even be a bit fatter than my nature girl curls.  I asked for a 24 inch sample and this is very very curly chubby bouncy curls. Dream curls!  I LOVE this curly! It's just like my hair but way better!

Well, straight hair never gets my heart racing no matter how wonderful it is, but I asked for a very long sample for a friend.  This hair is MUCH slicker, and shiny and smoother than indianhairs that's for sure.  Still the individual hairs are thick around.  Also the hair is awesome from top to bottom. No splits.  Much higher quality than indianhairs and skmhair and definitely nicer to the touch. This hair is silky!  With just these samples to go from I would have to say Peru straight is way better than indian straight.  The sample is also 26 inches long and is entirely silky! Usually hair this long is drier at the bottom.

These wefts are really great too. Especially the straight one.  Maybe because they can pack the hair in tighter or something. I can hardly pull the hair out! There was one reddish hair on the sample that I tried to yank out and the little bugger just wouldn't go! I ended up snapping the hair but never getting it out of the weft.  There won't be any shedding with this puppy!

The hair does smell pretty funny. But I got it out with a little optimum oil after wash so it smells nice now.  The curly seemed to have some oil on it that didnt smell so hot. The straight smelled like it had been in storage.

Here's the link to the photo if it stops working.

Koffee, Can you see saveastray's photo? I can't, but I can see mine.  The curly I got was so awesome, but you might like a normal natural curl. I asked for deep curly and it was really tight curl. It might be a bit too kinkycurl for your liking. I didnt get any deep wavy or naturally curly hair samples, just the deepcurl.  When you seperate the deepcurly it does get pretty frizzy, like really naturally deep curly does, but when the curls are formed they are really nice and soft.  It was definitely a tighter curl then both of our samples of RealHair kinky.

They only have natural colors. Black, medium, darkbrown and they said they can also sometimes find some medium and lighter browns. You would have to be bleach for sure. 613 is really light blonde isn't it?   I think the only place you can find hair that is naturally that color is from russia.

The samples I received were lighter brown then most of the indian hair I have received which is usually pretty close to black.

Thats strange? Can you see the link I provided? Yes your samples look like mine.  I can see the photo with the link you just posted. I did flip when I saw the curly! It's even prettier when you let it dry with the curls all together. They are SO fat and soft!  Do you think nature girl strands are thinner than the peru strands? I know with my nature girl the strands are thinner and finer.  One thing I really like about NatureGirl hair.  But I can buy 2 or 3 times as much long curls from peru then naturegirl.  I'm so greedy

I see your link Cherry....but the page goes to an error-forbidden
page....?? Can anyone actually load my pic so everyone can
see it?

Oh......Hands down I like the Peru curly best!! I think the curls
are more defined too. My Nature Girl 3b sample didn't come on
a weft so it's a little hard to tell against the wefted Peru hair
about how the thinness compares in the curly. There seemed to
be a decent amount of hair on the straight wefted sample I got
from Nature Girl though. I did see someone on BHM posted a
pic of all their NG curly wefts....and I did think they looked a tad
thin. The Peru curly hair feels slightly slicker too than my Nature
Girl 3b sample.....well my samples anyway.

I washed & conditioned all the samples so I could get an exact
look at all the hair together after it was air dried. I am a Peru
curly girl for life (for clients anyway-I love straight hair myself)
You lucky devil... .....I got short black samples..!!heehee...but
so beautiful all the same!!

I personally think that the Indian hair and Peruvian Hair are very very similar in diameter and weight. Most of my caucasian clients seem to have rather finer hair textures then my latina clients. Overall, my  latina clients have nicer hair to begin with. It looks rather fakish on someone who doesn't have thick nice hair to begin with. This is only my opinion of course.

FYI I am not a troll I am stylist. I just simply meant in my opinion it just looks wiggish if you don't match a suitable textures to the client. If you have thinner hair then European hair would be a more suitable match then Indian or Latina hair (because of the diameter and weight of the hair), although it's more expensive it looks more realistic on thinner hair.  If you were a stylist you would understand what I meant.

As a stylist myself...I can totally relate to her post. When I first
looked at the straight hair from Peru,I thought how similiar it
was to hi-end Indian hair. Some ponytails you get are nice thick
& slick. Look at the pic of the Indian hair on the end and you
see how much it looks like the straight hair from Peru. The
Peruvian hair is so perfect looking that It almost looks fake...it is
soooo perfect and high quality. That's also why I recomended it
for clients with thicker type, healthy hair. I totally agree with you
Mariposa!! I myself could not pull this hair off and that's why I
am looking for top quality Russian hair which matches my hair.
I am happy to have found this hair for the client with this
particular hair texture that wants extensions matched perfectly
to their own hair.

Sorry Mariposa...we have gotten a few trolls come lately and try
and disrupt the flow....I hope you don't take it personally and I
appreciate your post......you are right on girl.

Yes Cherry, 1 kilo is 2.2Ibs ,35oz, 1000g.......Oh no Cherry,
you're gonna have less hair than you
thought!!heehee..Bummer girl!!

Oh, forgot to tell you I got a super long & wide sample of the
straight hair from Peru this morning from the Italian office and
WOW!! It had no smell at all....very nice. This was definitely a
super sample I got. So Cherry, they may send you a second
delivery from the other office too!! Save~A~Stray38600.0884259259

Oh I hope so.

No wonder I thought I got less SKMHair than I ordered.  When I asked him how much a kilo was he said 3.3 lbs. Must have been a type-O.

Yes this Peru hair is definitely perfect looking.  The curly has more character- a little frizz, but this straight hair is so perfect from top to bottom. Most of all the straighter indian hair I have seen has some hairs broken off shorter or different lengths in the middle but this hair is completely straight and slick all the way down. This hair is 26 inches and is just as soft at the bottom as it is at the top. It looks like that cascading hair on those pantene commercials.

Hello All!!!!! I am new and I am soooo happy I joined. I was a member of BHM for a week and soon realized I was in the wrong place. Haha!! Too much drama. At any rate I joined in on this discussion because I have been in communication with this woman for awhile now. February to be exact and boy have her prices sky rocketed. Take a look:

Dear Sir,

The prices in dollar is:

Straight Hair and Wavy Hair:
14-17inches: US$ 195,00 per kg
18-24inches: US$ 250,00 per kilogram
24-28inches: US$ 295,00 per kg

Curly hair:
14-17 inches: US$ 230,00 kg
18-24 inches: US$ 265,00 kg
24-28 inches: US$ 312,00 kilograms

Regarding the samples, we could send you 30grs of curly hair. How many hair do you need? and Please, send us your full information address.

Awaiting your reply,

Maria

Now honestly, when I received my samples, I thought it was indian hair. I assumed that they were getting indian hair and selling it under the pretense that it was from Peru. I know that Indian suppliers sell to many areas in S. America. Many brazilian sites do this.  Now that she has marked the prices up I really believe this is Indian hair because she is trying to make a profit just like everyone else. Basically her prices are retail prices. 8 ounces of hair would be $300. That is the typical going rate for hair sold at retail. Her prices are definitely not wholesale prices.

That makes a lot of sense, Dutch. If Peru was a viable source of high quality hair, it would have been harvested a long time ago. The pictures that were posted don't show any difference between "Peru" hair and Indian hair, imo. I have BOXES of Indian (and "Italian" for that matter) hair that look amazingly similar.

You've been in touch with this supplier since Feb and all of a sudden her prices shot up? That's a red flag right there. Unless, of course, there's a shortage of hair in Peru all of a sudden.

This is such a racket.

Yeah! And another thing that we should remeber is that the reason why Indian hair is so accesible is because these women sacrifice their hair to temples. It is rare if they just cut off their hair for money. Their hair is one of their beuty straights that is held in high regard. I doubt if women in Peru are chopping their hair off for money. I mean can their possible be enough women in Peru to accomodate everyone interested in buying it. I don't know. I know nothing about Peru or economic state that it is in. However, when I spoke to my girlfirend, who is from El Salvador, she said that in the harshess conditions, she doubts if they would sell their hair.ief `erd -"0" ""<"r ),%)!-!-),%)! ,$`b "

THoughts on whether or not Indian hair matches well with caucasian hair.  I am not a stylist

I'm wondering what the typical diameter of european hair is.  I've seen it somewhere before.  I just don't remember and I'm typing freefomr without looking sh*t up today.  I measured the diameter of my hair the other day I think it was 5 or 7 microns.  I'll go check and edit this post ina little.   Anyhow I found that indian hair that I got was an excellent texture match to my hair.   All my friends know I wear extensions (though usually they are pick or blue or some really obvious color) but they all had to be told when I wore the Indian hair from Fina.  (though they are somewhat dense since I told them I was taking the day off from work to install it and my 'natural' hair got 8 inches longer overnight).

Anyhow, again I'm not a stylist but I think that the one Indian hair that I have tried matched me fairly well.  hmmmm

That's the thing about Indian hair: it goes from silky straight European-fine to kinky curly thick. I've had excellent texture matches (like the RK I have in now! heehee) - silky straight but with some body - and I've had terrible, coarse hair that didn't even BLEND let alone match. It was like wearing a broom.

Every article about the human hair supply industry says the same thing, tho: the best quality of human hair comes from India. Genetically, it's the best.

Where are these articles?  I'm assuming some industry mags but what are their names?

I just find miscellaneous things on the internet.

I've never seen a Consumer Reports type industry mag rating hair (in that you're receiving unbiased information.) Even if it existed, one bundle of hair can't be measured by the same standard as the next one.

Is Indian hair the best? It certainly is the most available and that kinda skews the percentages in favor that it would have a higher rating. I've had my hands on a few wefts where I could unquiviocably say yes, it is the best. I've also had some that I would call horsetail except I wouldn't want to offend a horse's tail by saying that.

Peru hair, Italian hair... whatever. I'm Italian and let me tell you that I and not any member of my family have hair growing from our heads worth selling. $- P cn`dp0% 00BB .(4`p /.!( ),))%!,,%$<"b .4

I hate it when hair companies say that.  They even say that with Russian and Spanish {from Spain} hair is the best.  I say it all depends on what look you are trying to achieve, your budget and if you are looking for short or long term wear.

Indian hair is less costly b/c it is the most abundant.  It has a stronger curl.  Genetically at its virgin state, the cuticles are thicker in diameter.  Indian hair is universal for both cauasian as well as for those who relax their hair.

European, Italian hair cuticles have a finer diameter and not as abundant therefore more costly.  The curl/wave is not as strong as the Indian.

Asian hair is thicker in diameter and very straight.  Clients who want that Pantene shampoo ad look love this hair.

Most of the hair compaines supply Indian and Asian hair.  And when a high lifted color is desired, the cuticles are stripped making the hair fine thus resembling 'European'.

As far as Peru hair is concerned, I think it is somewhere in the league of the "not as abundant" in supply making this hair expensive.  Also getting hair that is virgin, fine and has an even curl- is considered a rare find.

My clients who have gorgeous hair to begin with and who are looking for that right curl or that right whatever and who can afford it buy the rare finds.  Whereas clients who are on a budget or those who have 'abused' their hair with overlapping bleach and/or daily usage of high temp styling tools are very happy with the 'easy to get hair'.

I would like to try some Peruvian hair though.

Well, I do know that the lady in Peru will send you pictures of different girls and ask what kind of texture you like. And the girls are definitely not indian.  There's also pics of them with their hair before and after being cut off.  She sent me a lot of different curly photos trying to figure out what kind of curl I was after..do you like this girls or so-and-so's hair. I really think this hair is legitimately from Peru.  She also sent me pictures of a woman holding the hair and the same woman appeared in several of the photos with the other girls. They had REALLY long hair.  It seems like a lot of work to make me think the hair isn't from india.  Who knows.

I do remember that one hair article that some one posted stating that Italian hair refers to hair processed in Italy. The hair itself is Indian.

Here's a few of the girls she sent. She sent me a lot more though.  Some with before and afters of their hair cut. MOst of the shots seemed to be in the same place and a few more things that lead me to believe that the hair was from legimately from peru..or at least some place that was not india.
