So, first off I have been lucky enough to try every haircolor possible.I've had various shades of red, black, brown, pink, orange, and most recently blonde.I have also had everything from a shaved head to mid back length.I liked most of the looks, but I'm at a point where I'm content enough to just go completely natural. So I'm swearing off chemicals, hot tools, and anything else that might be hard on my hair.So I have decided to grow my hair.I dont plan on getting another cut again.Just trims as needed.I've got a long way to go.But since visiting the longhairboard, I know I can accomplish my goals.

My current length is 4.5 inches on top, sides, and back.My hair type is 1b F.I use CO for washing(suave)And Loreal kids shampoo once a week to clarify.I style with texturizer. And no heat is used.My hair is back to its natural color(medium brown). All damage has been cut out.

I have been gradually going natural with foods. So hopefully that will help as well.Cant wait to post progress reports.

So i havent added anything new in awhile cause there hasnt been anything really. My hair is still short. And I hate it.So I couldnt take it anymore and put in extensions.I look better, and more importantly i feel better.I did change up my hair routine a bit.I dont use the texturizer anymore. And I went back to using deep conditioners with cones. My hair looks and feels better with them. And I also clarify with a vinegar rinse to make sure the cones dont wreak havoc on my hair.I havent taken any pictures of my short hair(cause Its awful). But I will once it gets to a suitable length. But I do have pics of the extensions.I dont know what I would do If I didnt have the extensions to help me grow out this awkward cut.

this one is just a fall.My hair here was 2 inches in some spots and four in other!

And here are some new ones with better hair bonded in.

Cap0053.jpg

And no comments from the peanut gallery.I am more than aware of how non-photogenic I am,lol.Hopefully my hair will be long enough soon so I dont have to wear extensions.

So I took out the extensions today. So I'm back to my short hair.I actually gained at least half and inch.I'm still not ready to post pics of my hair yet.And I probably wont until after I have my baby..Which is this friday.Giving up hairdye has been hard, but My hair has never looked and felt so good. And I'm still using cone filled conditioner. My hair does better with them.Should be okay since I clarify with vinegar. And I dont reccomend bonded wefts for people without patience(me). I get where I just want them out of my hair and start ripping it out. Luckily I have plenty of hair.I dont think I'll ever do bonded wefts again.I'll stick to non glue methods for now.

So i've been bad lately.I have been dying like crazy trying to get my hair that perfect red color.I first used loreals uncolor cause I needed lift at my roots. Then I tried using a demi permanent color. But It didnt hold cause my hair was too porous.

So I have been interested in using henna for a long time so I finally took the plunge after finding hennaforhair.com.I bought 500g to use on my hair and my extensions.I didnt have a very promising strand test since my hair seemed to be too porous to even hold henna.so I used a filler and tried again and the results have been awsome.I'm having some issues with dryness.I know that will get better with each successive henna.I'm glad I did it.Even though my hair is short, it was looking pretty rough from the previous dye.Which had been bleached, dyed back and then stripped again.I need to take better care of my hair.

So I just measured my hair and its 9 inches from center part. And its 15 from the front of my hair line down the back. Its still really short. But thats still alot of growth since last time I measured. I'm about to go back to my natural color #4 dark brown.I really need a trim but I just got my hair extensions and dont want to lose any length so they blend as well as possible.Plus my hair gets a break while the extensions are in.

I think I'll do a clear colorgloss on my hair when I go back natural to make my hair more manageable and shiny.

So I put in extensions while i wait for my real hair to grow.If only my real hair looked like this. They turned out very nice.

This is a more recent picture.I'm thinking of getting layers put in.That way it will have somewhat of a style rather than just laying there.I'm trying to stick to my new years resolution of not dying my hair. But Its hard.I'm really comtemplating dying it light brown with dark blonde highlights. It would be the color of jens like in this pic.

And as far as growth goes.this is a pic taken at the beginning of January. And I tell a difference in length.

So I vetoed the jen aniston color.I decided to leave it alone(for now).

But I was bored so I decided to take a few pics of my V-day hairstyle.I wanted a romantic look.I think my hubby will like it.

Cap0269.jpg

If I do change my hairstyle,I think I'll go drastic.Like a golden blond bob style.

So,I put in extensionwhich i hated. The hair was beautiful, but as crazy as it sounds I missed my real hair.I was never so glad to take out extensions. And only after 1 day.I really have no desire to wear extensions again.but being the fickle person I am that could change.Right now though I am really appreciating my own hair.

I measured my hair after seeing others with great progress updates And My hair is 17" from the front of my hairline to the longest part in the back.Thats a 2" growth since december 10th.My hair is growing faster than I ever could have expected.I just hope it keeps growing like this.

Not really much to update.i'm just feeling bored with my hair again.I'm thinking of going for the light brown with dark golden blonde highlights again. And maybe clean up my ends with a long blunt bob.

I'm still pretty torn.I really need a change.I'm bored stiff with my hair right now.Hopefully I'll get out of this rutt soon.

So it looks like I'm finally gonna do it. I've got everything I need to do my base color.I'm test stranding as we speak. Hopefully it will turn out good.I'll have to take alot of pictures after I get done.I think I'll go to a salon to do my highlights.I dont think I could do those on my own.I'm pretty sloppy with color.

Can you say hair disaster. The strand tests looked pretty good. But,my hair looks awful. Its light brassy brown on the length, and the  newvirgin growth is real light. My roots dont want to hold color.I dont get it.They have never been dyed. But they just wont take color.I'm at a loss right now as to what to do from here. Looks like i might just have to dye it back to the color i had it originally. How sad is that,I put my hair through hair just to go back to the color it was to begin with.

I was thinking about a trim before, but it looks like I'll be getting a cut. i'm really sad.I'm not exactly new to hair coloring. But this has to be the worst result I've ever had.I was doing so good too.My hair is pretty long now.And I screwed it all up.Maybe I'll save my money for a good Lacefront so I can avoid things like this all-together in the future.

O.k so ihad my pity party lol.Now I'm feeling much better.I'm lloking forward to getting a cute short(but still girly cut).I dont think I've ever missed my natural color this much ever.I was contemplating going red,but nixed that idea pretty quick. So I'm going back to boring average(oh so wonderful) medium ash brown.I'll post some pics of possible cuts as inspiration.

Ok so here are a few choices of mine.

this one is cute and more subdued.I've also had this cut.It grew out kind of funky.

5.jpg

this one is cute as well.I have also had this cut too.It grows out nice.Plus its cute whether its styled or not.

And this one is my favorite. It would be the hardest to maintain. But I have also never had my hair cut like that which is an added draw.its definitely a risky cut.But I think I'm up for it.

Ok so even though i said i wasnt going to go red,I did.DH convinced me it would be a good idea. And I'm pretty pleased. It looks great. I'm still scheduled to get a cut this thursday.I posted about cutting my hair on the short hairboard, but noone really cared.I figured they would bombard me with shorthairstyles, lol. I guess Noone would really care over there unless i was shaving it all off, lol.

So anywhoo,My hair is not too bad.I could get away with a big trim.I'm still entertaining the idea of the short sharon cut though.I guess I'll just wait and see.

i'm thinking of using henna again. It made my hair feel dry last time, but I'm thinking it takes a few times to feel the full effect of it.

I was supposed to get my hair cut yesterday, but i had a screw-up with money.Never happened to me before, really embarassing.I'm just glad I checked BEFORE the cut.Its cool.It could have been much worse.Well the salon could have been real mean about the whole thing, but they werent. They were actually really nice and rescheduled me.

So now I have a new appointment on wednesday the fifth.Maybe this time,I'll go in knowing what i want, lol. But probably not.I think I'll let my stylist(who's awsome by the way)have free reign to do what she wants. That is with the very big exception of Mullets, soccer mom flips,or eighties bangs.

As far as my hair goes currently. It actually looks good. The red is super pretty, everyone loves it.(not so much my husband cause of all the excess attention, lol). But I finally got past the awkward length. It looks good this long, but now I'm going to cut it lol.Its a good thing my hair grows really fast.

So I finally got my haircut.I really love it.Plus it is ten times healthier. My stylist did an amazing job.I let her pick my haircut. And I'm glad I did.My husband thinks its great.

Wow,i really need to change my sig. pic.Its awful.lol. Not much going on with my hair.I dyed it once since the cut.Something didnt look quite right about it.So i put a medium brown on over the red.It took great. It looks tons better. It was obviously the missing equation.

I'm not sure whats next from here.I like my cut.Plus I'm getting a lacefront,so there are many available options.I'm not sure if I'll keep the cut,or grow it out some.I think I'll just concentrate on cutting out the rest of the color, which shouldnt be too hard at this length...

Posted By: Longhairdreams
Date Posted: May 6, 2006 at 2:06pm

So currently my hair is medium to dark blonde. Its grown some since the cut.Its feels good despite what I've done to it.

I'm waiting on a lacefront. It should be here sometime next week.I've decided if my LF is right that I'm going to shave my head.Start fresh and new.I miss my hair in its natural state.I'm not even sure what shade my natural color even is.Its been a while since I've seen it.This will make the second time I shaved my head.I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow,its been a really long time since I wrote anything here.I shaved my head right after that last post.I used a razor this time.I'm never going to shave my head again so I figured it'd be fun to do just once.I never expected the ingrown hairs I got though.Live and learn I guess. My hairs hasnt grown much.I had incredible growth last year.It firgures It would slow down when I want it to grow.

Its finally getting to an acceptible length. It still wont lay down.It looks like I have a faux hawk. But my hair is just stiff.I have been wearing wigs alot.Today was the first day I went out without one on.I expected alot of snickers from young and old.But suprisingly that was not the case at all. Women didnt seem to notice me.But guys were downright gawking.Which is suprising since my hair is super short.I know the majority of guys like long hair.Maybe they liked the fact that they could see me.There was no hair to hide behind.Just me.

Anywhoo..... I guess I'll post some kinda sorta not really progress pictures.

So I finally figured out to tame my hair from sticking straight up.I did it in the post above.I just used a little bit of light pomade(which doesnt hold my hair down, but its the first step). Then I get my hair soaking wet.For some reason the wetness of my hair mixed with the pomade makes my hair lay down.I then use my fingers to pull the hair into the shape I want. And lo and behold it keeps that shape until i wash(minus bedhead here and there).I was afraid I had a month or so more before my hair started to be wearable .But now it looks like a head hugging pixie.

I'm glad I overcame this stage without heat.I'm really loving the blue undertones in my hair.It wouldnt take much damage to pull red underneath. Its been so long since I saw my natural color.I'm finally at good place where I can appreciate it.The last time I shaved my head I had already started coloring it by this point.

And On the weight loss front things are going great.I've lost and inch off each thigh. And half an inch off of my stomach and hips.I think my arms bulked up,lol.I havent lost any lbs.But I've gained alot of muscle which is what I really wanted..

My youngest took his first steps a couple days ago.How exciting. He'll be full on walking in no time. Its hard to beleive he's ten months now.

(I'm not sure I'm supposed to post on someone's journal, so I apologize if I'm intruding)

I just wanted to address what your hair was probably growing faster last year.  If you gave birth to your son, as opposed to adopting him, then the hormones in your body from the pregnancy do in fact make the hair grow faster!  Pregnancy is a fantastic time for hair.  Unfortunately, though, about six months post partum is when the hair starts shedding more than normal.  You may not notice it since your hair is so short, but it's very normal.  You've got kind of a short pixie now, so your hair is growing well!  Best of luck.

Its been two months since I last posted.I know there was a whole month where I didnt have any internet access.I wish I could say I didnt care, but I did.It was horrible.I didnt realize how much I use the internet til it was gone.

So anyway on to my hair. Its grown quite a bit since I last took pictures. Its actually suprising.I must have had a good month or something. My hair looks the same as the cut I had in april when its styled.I have stayed true to my promise that i was going to finally leave my hair alone. No dye,no heat.I havent even fallen back on extensions like I usually do when I dont like my hair.On to the picturesStar.

They're both unstyled. But if I'm going out I usually put a little pomade in it to make it look like an actual style.Even unstyled it doesnt look too bad.At least not to me.So I guess I've met one milestone which is a pixie.Next one will be a chin length bob.I think I'll even out the edges when it gets that long. Its going to take years, but Hopefully I make it to my ultimate goal of butt length.I hope to never have short hair again.

I just enrolled in an aveda beauty school.Which is very exciting but scary at the same time.Hopefully I'll be good at it.i know its unrealistic to think everyone can do hair. But everyone seems to think just that.I do feel that if I'm taught well and get the hands on training I can flourish as a hairdresser.Geeklol

So I figured  I would update my journal since my hair has grown a little bit since last time. Here's a new pic.My hair probably doesnt look any longer but its like an inch longer than it was in my last pics.

I'm liking my hair right now.Its past the awkward stage it was stuck at before.I just add a little pomade to ruff it up and it looks pretty cute. I was worried for a little bit cause my scalp was getting irritated for no reason I can think of.Maybe my vinegar rinse was too acidic.?But my scalp seems pretty sensitive anyhow.

I made up a concoction of coffee(irish creme) Honey, egg, and conditioner.I left it on til it dried cause I couldnt wash when I planned.I was hoping the coffee might tint my hair.If it did I cant tell. But it did make my hair feel rediculously silky.I kept the leftovers for later.I'm sure it would protein overkill to use all the time. But it was just what my hair needed. And lastly I remembered my natural color being a shade darker than what it is now.I wonder if It lightened on me?

So I successfully used a natural shampoo bar today.Whoo HooTongue.I've been trying off and on for months.I would try once and give up.I have heard so many good things about about using them I had to keep trying. My soap is a coffee smelling kind shrinkies.net/creekside soaps.I dont think she makse that kind anymore. But She still makes alot of other good soaps.

So anyhow, everytime I used them before,my hair felt really crummy after rinsing. And I read somewhere. To be honest It seems like it was Dave decker who said it.That you can get rid of the crummy feeling if you finish with a ACV rinse.I tried it,not really thinking it would work. But it did.Granted my hair doesnt feel like it did with conditioner. But it feels ok.I did notice that some shed hairs had a build-up on them.Maybe I need a stronger ACV mix.I'm going to give it some time.Since there's a transition period for people with hard water.

I wanted to try something different to help my dry ends. They arent dry like most people think of dry.Just a little rougher than the rest of my hair, which is really soft and fine.I think my ends could be the result of being tapered off. They remind me of how my ends looked after being razored. My hair feels healthier with a blunter cut.Its so wispy right now.I'm going to wait til it hits solid at chin length before I even out the hemline.I'm gonna keep using the soap and see how it goes.If the soap build-up doesnt go away,I'll stop using. But I'm sure my hair will get used to the soaps.

So i tried the natural shampoo bar for awhile. My hair liked it.I only have one gripe. But sadly its a big one.My hair was much more fragile with just the shampoo bar.I'm sure it has something to do with my hair texture Fii.I noticed after brushing  my hair in a hurry i got quite a few broken hairsCry.
So I finally used(and loved) the aveda clove S&C I got for x-mas.I guess my hair needs a little extra protection. My strands arent overly fine, but I do have a wierd beading on them(which I've always had).Hairdressers have had all sorts of reasons for why my hair is beaded, but then I'll disprove it without even trying. My hair seems better off with the silicone enhancementErmm.Oh well.

I wanted to give up cones before because of the buildup they were causing. And when I tried to clarify with baking soda my hair felt like crap for a week after. And dry hair is more likely to get damaged than nourished hair.So i guess I need to hunt down a clarifying shampoo.I'm sure If I use it watered down every other wash it should help.My only other concern is the amount of proteins my new conditioner has.My hair doesnt take long to buildup with those. Is there even a way to clarify proteins?lol.

My hair has grown a bit since my last update.I guess I need to take pics.Plus Since I've been using the aveda clove S&C my hair is more of a chocolate brown.I love my natural bluish dark brown. But The chocolate color is fun too.Smile

So I'm up to about 41/2 inches now.whoo hoo.I have so far to go.So I tried  going the natural shampoo route again. And there are so many things going against it in my case that I think i'm done with it for good.
1.my hair is more tangly than usual with it.
2.I have to use bottled water to wash with(extreme hard water)
3.I miss my warm showers
4.Its too unstable to get consistent results

So I'm back to Conditioner.I think I might just do conditioner washes with shampoo every now and then to clarify.I bought Nuetrogena anti residue. It seems to be more gentle than the baking soda I used.So its about time to take some new progress pics.

On a non hair note I 've been uswing proactive.I have good skin but have the occasional breakout.I'm hoping is helps with the redder areas of my face more than anything.Everyone who i know that uses it have perfect skin.So i'm up for giving it a try.

And my ends were feeling kinda dry due to weather and wispiness. So I tried some burts bees hand salve I have on them and my ends feel just as silky as the rest.Plus its easier to use than other oils I've dealt with. Its not easy to use to much.Plus it doesnt have much of a smell.I hate overly fragrant oils.
I got some new hair toys from dressy tresses.I got two silver bobby pins with austrian crystals set into them. And I got two flower ruby hair magnets. The last thing I got was silk chanel inspired scarf. It protects my hair while making me look classy and cool, lol.

The page has now deleted my whole post twiceAngry.I'm gonna try this last time.

I'm currently doing CO.I'm not impressed. My ends are still pretty dry from the weather and wispy's.I'm still using the salve for that.Silicones dont seem to mix well with my hair.My hair used to do really well with silicones. My only guess is something I'm using has too much protein in it.

Another interesting thing I discovered.I have three different hair types.Baby fine around hairline and lightly mixed in.Medium fine throughout(makes up the bulk of my hair). And thick coarse wavy hairs lightly mixed on the crown?! These hairs alos seem to be going silver.I probably never noticed them before cause my hair had been stripped so much.I dont notice them as much when I use cones. Its not bad just interesting.

So I have some extra money with which I'm going to buy myself a few things. One is a hairdo hairpiece by jess S.It looked like all the other extension peices before. But I checked it out and Its pretty neat looking.Perfect for what I want.My other things I'm going to get.1.A seamless comb.My comb I use now has been chewed on(small children). And I wanted one anyhow.2.And another thing is a bottle of kenzoamour(perfume).I smelled some awhile back and was pleasantly suprised.I'm pretty picky when it comes to perfume.

I have been thinking about evening out my ends. They arent damaged. But it would help with the dryness and wispiness.Nothings set in stone.I dont want to lose any length.but I know my hair would look and feel better for it.I guess I'll just think on it for a week or two.

Still using proactive. My skin actually looked worse at first.I'm still on the fence with this one.I dont notice any difference. My skin was pretty good to begin with. But I at least expected more eveness or something.I'm gonna keep using it til its gone so I can give it a good review.

Speaking of reviews.i have a bad one.Its for tigi's bedhead.I heard so many good things about it.I hate it.I used the shampoo conditioner and shine spray.I gave them three real tries. And all three times the results were the same.I used the shampoo once, and it had a nice lather. But the other two... The conditioner was horrible.I think my hair felt drier after using it.And the shine spray was awful.I covered my roots so I didnt get the greasy looking roots. But my hair still looked to oily.I even held the bottle for away when I sprayed.

Success!ClapThumbs%20UpStar

So I finally solved my dry hair dilemma. My ends have just felt like crap for weeks now it feels like.I liked my shampoo bars but the results werent consistent enough.I knew to use vinegar but it ws making my hair overly oily.Well after giving my two boys a bath I had a thought.I had just used the same shampoo bar on their hair, and their hair loved it.I had chalked it up to them having baby fine hair.I use a diluted vinegar rinse on their hair after. But the difference between theirs and mine was that I use mine in drinking water.Theirs is mixed with tub water(which is extremely hard).I have been really trying to keep my hair as natural as possible. But Apparantly it works better with my hard water. My hair feels great again. My hair is moisturized root to tip.Whoo hoo.

Alright so I cut down my proactive to once a day.My skin is just to sensitive, and it dries it out.Although others who use it said the same thing.Maybe twice a day is meant for people with real skin problems.

Its time for a picture update.I have some new hair toys and combs.Plus my hair has gained some length since my last picture.Heart

Alright i finally got around to taking some progress pics and a few others of some hairtoys I got.
this one shows the length.Looks pretty mulletty from my hair being all one exact length. But I'm gonna get a hairpeice  to wear until it grows out enough for it to be evened out.
this one is of some new jeweled bobby pins I got from dressy tresses.I love them! They help my hair not look like a mullet. They are so pretty.
This is another way I've been wearing my hair with my pins.I think its pretty cute.
src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b33/longhairdreams/Cap0811.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
Here's a closeup of the pins.

I got this head wrap at forever21.It was cheap like $5.Its silky and actually aids in protecting my hair.Plus its good for those days when my hair doesnt look so great.
And last but not least are my hair magnets.I like them, but havent worn them out yet.The magnets are soo strong.I'm actually worried about it crushing my hair, lol.

Not too much going on hairwise.I bought a couple new wigs. Both are dark brown. But ones wavy and the other is straight. That way I can alternate styles.I got them in my color so I can pull some of my own hair out at the front to create a real looking hairline.

I finally got my Cassia in the mail.I knew it was great after using a sample I got in a different order. My hair is silkier than ever.Plus my hair finally shines.Normally it has a healthy sheen. But no shine. But now it is like a mirror.I put a little brewed lavender in for scent.Natural lavender smells great. It makes me miss spring though.

I got some burts bees grapfruit and sugar beet conditioner. It actually works well. But the smell leaves something to be desired.

I quit using the proactive. It made my skin worse. My skin was pretty clear to begin with. And I think It caused breakouts in places I never have problems with. The only thing I'll keep using is the mask.It was worht the $20.It really works well for spot treatments.

I ended getting the Jessica simpson/Ken paves hairpeice.I was really dissapointed. It was a good idea that was poorly executed. For anyone who might read this dont waste your money.

I'm finally getting back into my groove. As you can see in the lst pics i had started to slack in the weight department.Too many cookies and not enough cardioTongue.I dont count calories. But I know I have tendency toward binge eating when things arent going great. But now I'm back in control, and the weight is falling off once again. My home scale says 115.But I'll be curious what the doctors scale says.It always reads ten lbs more than mine. But its nice to be back to where I wasStar

So i'm still a heat, and chemical virgin. But I did dye my hair with henna.so I cant claim to have virgin hair anymore. Its not a huge change.Just red toned in normal light. And dark red in the sun.Its pretty but not for me.

So here's my henna/indigo amla recipe for making med-dark brown cool toned hair. All my ingredients came from catherine at hennaforhair.com

1.I mixed 5 tablespoons Jamila henna
2.I then mixed in 1 Tbl spoon Amla
3.I then added 1 tblspoon citric acid(lemon juice is too drying)
4.I brewed a tablespoon of rosemary leaves in a 1 and a half cups water
5.I added 30 drops essential lavender oil for darker and quicker dying
6.I then finally added the brewed rosemary to the mix.
7. I blended it to the consistency of yoghurt
8.And finally I set the bowl in the sun

This part is done. The sencond half is what I'm going to do once my henna has dye release

Second half:Adding the indigo
1.Mix 5 tablesoons of indigo
2.add water til it becomes consitency of yogurt
3.wait 15 minutes
4.Add to henna mix well.
5.Put on head and wait.....

I'm hoping to get back to an cooler shade of brown.I dont care much for the red in my hair.I wanted to darken my hair a bit, this was just the excuse I needed to finally do it.

Best case scenario: my hair turns out a rich dark brown with cool undertones
Worst case scenario:My hair turns blue blackDead which I can pull off,but I dont want

Here's what my color looks like now.I'll use lindsay lohan to model it for me

And here's what I'm hoping to get.Miss diaz will model this one for me.
I'm going to do sometime tonight, whenever the henna's finally ready.I'm crossing my fingers. And I guess I'll lump my dye pics together with my progress pics. Its about that time since I can finally wear a full fledged ponytail.Star

Success! Star

So my hair didnt go black like I was afraid of.Now its a nice chocolate brown. Its not as ashy as it started as.But it looks a ton better than the burgundy red color plain henna gave me.I think i'll add some red/gold corrector to my conditioner. That should help with the remaining red tint.Or if I'm not too cheap maybe I'll buy blue malva cond. from aveda. That would do the trick.

So now its time for the progress pictures. Its hard to tell from them that I can wear a ponytail, but I can.Its a little one with lots of layers that arent long enough, but a headband fixes that.I bought some colorful elastic headbands that seem to work well. There small in width cause they look better and are more stylish. The wide ones make me think of scrunchies and leg warmers(cringeDead).

This is a picture of the color of my hair after henna. Its hard to tell but the color was pretty awful on me
This is a pic of the length in the back. These are crappy pictures, but my camera chooses not to work sometimes.
And last but not least. This shows how the henna indigo turned out on my hair, and shows a front shot of my hair length.

Being that I'm a gemini by all means I'm having a bored moment.I am pleased with the growth and condition of my hair. But I've decided I like instant gratification.Or at least temporary instant gratification. So I ordered hair and supplies from my favorite hair and natural soap supplier(shrinkies.netThumbs%20Up).I bought one weft of thermofiber.I havent used it yet and have meant to for awhile.I bought one ounce of asian remy well cause I'm cheap and its kinda pricey for someone who's thrifty like me.And I bought silicone lined microrings.I still need to go to the Bss to pick up some liquid gold.I'm going to put it in as wefts most of the way up.Then I'll put the asian remy that I'll pretip in with the microrings at the top.It sounds good in theory I just hope it looks good.

So I know I just posted hair growth pics. But they arent very good IMO.So I took some new ones. One to show the way its growing, and the wierd color henndigo gave it.One to show it from the front. And one for vanities sake to show off the shine it hasStar.Embarrassed.
This one shows the length and the color in bright light.
This one shows the front of my hair. You can see some of the short layers.
And this one is with my head tilted back.I'm really loving the shine. It didnt used to do thatHeart.

I was about out of my burts bees shea and grapefruit deep conditioner.Cry.So I got some new conditioner tonight.I got redken all soft.I have always heard great things about it,but have never tried it due to being cheap.I really love my burts bees which doesnt have any cones.i'm hoping this will work as well. But my hair seems to reject the products most people like. Most of the conditioners I buy end up being used by my DH who's hair love them.i had high hopes for the Tigi Dumb blonde condish. But it made my hair feel pretty dry.But my hubby used it and said his hair has never felt better.Angry.I hope this newest one isnt just another to replace the almost empty bottle he ended up with last time.

And alot off topic:I planted some seeds(flowers). But I forgot oh yeah I have a black thumb,lol.Dead.I already overwatered the poor things.I just hope i get some pretty flowers to plant out in my yard.If all else fails, I'll buy some that have already bloomed and put them in my yardBig%20smile.

And you can tell how tired I am by how many smilies i use in a post, lol (insert smiley here)

Wow, I've really neglected my journal.I've been so busy with other things I just completely forgot about it.

Not much going on hairwise.I've been trying to simpilfy my routine, but have been so busy I ended doing more.I want nice hair, but I like it to look presentable when I go out.And sometimes those natural washes leave my hair looking rough.

I did manage to make a bun yesterday.I used a bun rat I made.It actually looked really good. And the bun rat is genius.Especially for people with short or thin hair.
Here's newer pic.My hairs grown a bit since it was taken,so I guess its about time for progress pictures.I'll take some tonight along with some of my bun with the bun rat.

alright and on with the new picturesStar.

Here's a pic of my hair in the bun rat which is basically the top of a tube sock rolled so it looks like a fat hair tie.You then put the bun rat over your ponytail. Then you seperate your hair through the middle trying to spread your hair over the bun rat.then put another hair tie over your hair on top of the bun rat.Smooth out your hair over it so it doesnt show through and Voila you have a nice thick pretty bun.My hair is way too short to look so thick in a bun.

here's a sideview of my hair.Hard to see it from this pic.It usually blends together better, but I do have some serious tapering.
And here's one from the back.I can definitely tell a difference since my last back shot.

I'm going to try a new wash technique. There have been recent talks over at TLHC about using oils in the wash rather than conditioner.I've been trying to get back into using my natural soap bars. Its been hard due to lack of time patience and the adjustment period.

I'm also getting a ficcare soon.I really need a good reliable hair accessory.I'm gonna get one of the new lotus maximas ones. The ivory with gold has my name on it.Heart

Its been awhile since I updated this journal.I've been spending most of my time on LHC.I still love this board since it was the first forum I got involved with.

I've taken a few new pictures of my length.boxerSo my hair got mauled by a pair of dull scissors.I even sharpened them first, but they still tore up my ends. These first two pics are after the tragic assaultthatsit

But I bought the sample size ojon restorative treament from sephora. And my ends looked and felt a ton bettercheerlolabove.
Here's after the ojon and newest length pictures so far

my ends were still dry and battered so I bought some  ultrasharp titanium scissors from walmart.I trimmed about 1/4 off the ends and did a dusting of my layers. My hair feels so much better. My hair is back on the right track again.I thought I was gonna need to cut off like 2 inches.1/4 inch seemed to be all I needed.

I'm happy with hair with the moment. But I have been thinking about buying some aveda black malva to add darker tones to my hair.I already have blue malva(gives hair a burgundy look),and clove adds warmth.I still have alot of red left over from the henndigo.I decided I dont suit red brown hair.My hair is naturally very ashy and I would like to have that back.I think the black malva will help push it back into the cooler tones.

So after being fed-up with my incoming greys i decided to just dye them.I didnt want any red tones so I decided to use regular dye.Medium ash brown in loreal natural match.I have used every dye imaginable with no problems. But for some reason i had a bad allergic reaction. My hair is okay, but my scalp took a beating.Luckily it healed fine and my hair is A-okaycheer.Sadly my hair went  slightly red.Maybe because of the reaction? Who knows.I know that was exaclt what I needed to remind me why I gave up dye in the first place.plus it didnt cover all my grays. And at 25 I'm not ready to give into going gray.Maybe when I'm 50,lolwheelchair
So its back to henndigo.I'm gonna use  a similar mix,but with a little more indigo than henna this time.

I'll post some after pics.

So my hair is looking pretty good. Its been extra tangly.Which I'm guessing is from the humidity. It didnt bother my hair when I was younger but my hair type has changed quite a bit since having kids.I went from a 1a f iii, to a 1b m/c ii.Which isnt a big deal, I just need to re-learn a bit about my hair.

A couple of new pics-
This first one is just a length shot. The ends look frazzled cause I used too much oil "oops" plus it looks alot shorter than the last one.I did trim off 1/4inch but its really not noticeable shorter.I think the pic is just at a different angle or something.

And this one shows how good my hair is starting to look. Some people who know me couldnt imagine me with long hair, but I think its looking better the longer it gets.Plus I have lost some weight.I've been runnning alot(*which I love). And I'm really proud of myself.I measured myself for the first time in forever and couldnt get over the results. My waist measured 24"!!.It hasnt been that small since highschool.I wasnt even trying to get skinny. But its definitely a nice perk of working hard.

And now a trip down memory lane......
Here's me faking almost classic length hair.I wasnt fat just pregnant.I loved the hair.Noone knew and everyone turned to stare. It was just clipins but it was fun to wear for awhile.

Here's a pic B&W sadly from when I was blond. It looked so good, but my hair didnt get very long like that.

And one more from way back.I think I was around 7 or 8?My sister did my bangs, lol.Which is about how she styled hers at the time but not as tall.

Ooh and tomorrow I get some stuff from sephora in the mail!.
I'm a little bit excited.I'm finally gonna get to try ojons new rub out dry shampoo.I hope it works. My hair always looks so oily by the next day.(Crosses fingers).

I've been spending alot of time over at LHC,so my journal over there has been getting more attention. But I do feel more fond of this journal since it was my first. So I figured I would update this one first this time.

I havent taken any length pics, but will soon.I did get some goodies from heavenlyharvest.com. I got a beautiful wooden comb and my first ever hairfork.
This pic is of the two plastic combs I was using before(they were supposed to be seamless, but that wasnt the case)And of course my new comb and fork as they came.

Me being the meddler I am cant leave well enough alone.I wasnt crazy about the painted pattern on my fork so I sanded it down abit and lightly stained it with a pecan color.I love it nowwub. Its perfect.
Here's the after pic-
And here it is in my dirty hair, lolbusted
Oh and for fun, here's a pic of my ficcare next to my fakkare.I love it but it eats hair.

In other news I got $200 worth of mary kay for $9!!!cheerIt was all brand new too.She just stopped working for them I guess andthey have to buy they're own stuff to sell. And she just wanted to get rid of it.She had thousands worth too.

And I broke my toestretcher, lol.I just bent it wrong while sitting on it.Its so stupid. So now i cant run.I love running.hopefull I'll be able to bear through it soon.I hate my backup workout tapes.

I cant believe its been over a month since I updated my journal.

My hair decided to revolt against me.starwars.So I decided to try something new.I was washing my hair almost every day.And it was really drying out my hair.So I've decided to go as long as possible between washes. Its been almost 5 days. And my hair feels pretty awful.Granted I added oils so my hair would be moisturized down the entire length.

My hair seems to be at its limit though for being dirty. My ends just cant get enough moisture as is.

Jason made me a beautiful hair fork for our anniversary. And he's working on two morewub
Here's the fork exactly liked I asked for:
Here's a pic of my hair before i recently trimmed off an inch
And here's the most current pic after the trim.

Grrr I got distracted and accidentally erased my entire post, lol.rantbox
I'm only writing right now cause the Colts chargers game is on
and its driving me crazy.

I bought desert essence red raspberry shampoo. Its pretty good.
Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner. It has way too much protein and dried my ends out.
And I just bought Terax Crema conditioner(original). It works great. My hair feels kinda gross while its wet,but it dries gorgeous.
Plus it works well with my Ojon restorative treatment

Here's my newest length picture.

I was given a nice whittling set.so I can finally make some hair sticks.I had been working on one,but I was using crappy tools.Once I finish it I'll post some pics of it.

My hair is doing great. It took a couple Loreal ineral hair fixing treatments to get back on track. But I'm very happy with my hair.I highly reccomend it.Especially for people with hair that is damaged and breaking.Mine is just too fragile on its own,and has a tendency to be dry.

So i finally found a wash method I love. Its CWC.Or condition wash condition.Mine is a variation.I put on my Suave Coconut conditioner.and while its still on my hair I add shampoo.I rinse it all out. Then I condition again but add a little biolage conditioning balm(quarter size to make it stretch) to my coconut conditioner.I leave it in for the rest of my shower.Usually 5 min.I then either use paul mitchell super skinny serum or Ojon RT as a leave in.I usually only use the Paul mitchell once in between clarifying so it doesnt get built up.This has been great for my hair.My hair has hardly any splits now and feels strong and moisturized.

I also have started using temp. blue dye to add back a nice ashy blue tone to my hair.It was getting way to red my liking.I suit a cooler tone since my skintone is on the yellow side.

I'm finally going to get my beautiful raw edge horn comb.It only cost $5.25 with shipping. Its all thanks to my BIL and his Ebay account.I'm too paranoid to do ebay, but he was nice enough to use his account to get it for me.And to think I was going to pay $48 just for the comb alone on horn combs.com.I never got around to buying one because of the insane price.Of course that didnt keep me from drooling over it.I'm so excited.barmy

Also I have had a growth spurt.which is awesome, cause usuallyI get the average half an inch per month.
This first picture was taken on 11/26/07 right after I took this trimmed off 2 inches all around give or take a half inch.
Then this picture I took yesterday 12/9/07 after the big trim

My hair almost right back to where it started before the trim.Which means my hair grew like 1 1/2 inch in 13 days.Woot.
Nothing much else to add.Life is pretty good.

So I have been going "Back to Basics".My hair was getting worse and worse with conditioner.I was using heavy conditioners and ending up with dried out hair.I tried going cone free and those yeilded the same results if not worse. So i started relying heavily on my paul mitchell super skinny serum. It worked better than the other conditioners, but never left my hair moisturized.

So I finally got sick of my hair.I was actually starting to think of haircuts that would look cute. But I decided to try something I read about awhile ago and recently. Its the shampoo only method.I of course did it with a variation. But it worked and well.I have done it twice now and my hair is still soft and comletely moisturized. It doesnt look as shiny as when I use conditioner. But I could care less since my hair actually looks and feels healthy.which is key to growing it out long.
The first wash I clarified using Nuetrogena anti-residue,mixed with desert essence shine enhancing shampoo and a diluted acv mix.I then used a good amount of ojon on damp hair and left it on.It worked twice now.
I just hope I can keep getting these results.
The only downside for some people is that I shed alot.I think my scalp has trouble releasing shed hairs so I'm not worried about shedding too much. But I know alot of people do.So I thought I would add that in.But then again I could imagine this method helping with shedding as well for some.

So I did really good christmas wise
My husband made this fork for me

i also got my horn comb.As much as I made a fuss about getting it I'm not really impressed. Its pretty, but it is not nearly as good as my wooden comb from heavenly harvest. My wooden comb has been dropped and banged on stuff and rammed through my hair and doesnt have a single scratch. But the horn one is soo fragile. It wouldnt take much to break it.Plus my HH comb is great for applying my oils to so I can brush them through evenly. And it retains the smells of the oils used.My comb smells wonderful.LOL its hard to believe its just a comb.

I got a really good pair of scissors.I am using them to search and destroy. And I did a wet dusting recently.I read about wet cutting,I dont know why I didnt think to do it sooner.Confused

Anywhoo I'm about due for another progress pic.which I will take and post sometime soon.

So I had kept up with the shampoo only and oil combo. It was working pretty well. But I decided to try out some jessicurl products.Let me first off by saying I honestly believe these are quality products. But not for me.

I bought the trial sizes of the hair cleansing cream, aloeba conditioner, too shea conditioner, and gentle cleansing shampoo.I also got the full size hair oil for softer hair.Turns out my hair doesnt like the coconut, jojoba mix.I think its the protein qualities. My hair really reacted well at first. It looked clean, felt super soft and even started to wave up.I loved the wave.I had a feeling for awhile that my hair had a wave in it.Eventually i ended up back to where I was when I was using shampoo and conditioner before. So I thought maybe I had some build-up.Whether it was from hard water, conditioner, protein etc.. So I clarified and started over with the jessicurl. But it didnt help.In fact my hair has been steadily drying out again which means breakage.I had actually stopped the breakage with my shampoo/oil combo.PLus my hair had started to shed like crazy with the jessicurl.Which I was bale to overlook in the beginning since it seemed to be doing a good job.

So once again its back to shampoo and oil.I'm almost out of ojon, but I've been mixing it with some cheap oil to make it stretch. Its not as good as straight ojon. But it will do until I get some more.I'm going to get the big 5 ounce tub this time. Its much more cost effecient.I just need to hold out a little longer until my tax check comes. I'm also going to research shampoo's and hopefully find something a little better in the sulfate dept. I did have good luck with nexxus therapee. So I'll probably end up getting that one again.

And I think I'll get rid of all my extra shampoo conditioners,so I'm not tempted to use them.I'm going to a retreat with my mom and sister soon.I'm sure they would like to have them.

Wow, I cant beleive i havent updated in this long.I got lots of goodies with my tax check. Not much hair wise though.I did get a clip in volume peice. Its longer than my natural hair but great for faking all the pretty udos my hair isnt long enough for yet.

Makeup:I got Sugar's bronzer blush combo in the big gold compact. Its great. And it looks super natural. I got smashbox O-gloss.Its pretty but only okay.It wipes off easily and then your left with no color.I actually like it better on my cheeks.I got a lip moisturizer/plump by juice beauty.I dont notice any plumping but it does make your lips really smooth and hydrated hence making them look fuller. It has a great subtle scent and flavor.I bought it after talking to one of the ladies at sephora.I was thinking it would wnd up being another dud.But I cant quit using it.My favorite thing I got was That Gal by benefit. Its a face primer with a pink sheen. When you put it on the pink blends away and just slightly brightens your complexion. It also leaves your skin matte and fills in pores.I dont like wearing makeup but wanted a more even skintone and this is perfect. Its me but better.Star

And back to hair.... I got the big ojon.5 ounces. It may not sound like much but a little goes a long long way.It took me months to finish off the 1.35 ounce jars I had before.Plus this was way more cost efficient.

I bought the dry hair sample pack by Phyto.Meh my hair is just to picky. So I went back to what my hair does like.Condition with suave naturals coconut and shampoo scalp with CO still on.Rinse apply another conditioner usually burts bees 2 minute deep conditioner for detangling purposes.Leave in for about 5 minutes.Rinse.Then towel dry with microfiber towel(this has made a huge difference).I was given this towel recentlycheer. Then brush in a dime size amount of ojon into damp hair.I had a horrible time finding a balance of moisturized but not greasy looking hair when doing this. What worked for me was to take my oil and put it right onto my wooden comb.Smear it over the tines.then brush it in until the comb it clean. This works great for me.

Another thing that has been working for me lately is using a boar bristle brush.I bought one a long time ago but stopped using it shortly after cause I was worried about it damaging my hair.My hair is perpetually dry.No matter what I do.So one very greasy day I decide to break out the BBB.It only took a few swipes and my hair looked great. It pulled the sebum down the length making the top look less greasy and more importantly delivering it to my dried out ends.So I kept at it.I had to really be aggressive in my brushing, but I was able to get the oil down the length.By the time I washed my hair again my hair looked great. It actually had shine down the whole length.I used the phyto stuff which sucked out all my oilAngry. But I've almost got it back again.I know this would never realistically work for anyone with longer hair but for those with apl and shorter this would totally work.My hair feels thicker and stronger after doing this.I think anyone who's worried about thinning might also want to be careful as this requires alot of scalp manipulation.

So my hair is happy at the moment.Hoping writing that doesnt jinx it,lol.

I have been doing the same wash with a little bit of rassoul clay mixed into my shampoo. My hair really likes it.Plus it get rid of the scalp crud that I was having trouble with from before. The shampoo and conditioner just werent enough.

So I've been really tempted to blowdry lately. After the big shed my hair just looks thin and flat. And I know I could really fluff it up with a blowdryer and round brush. But I havent used any heat for this long so I'm still holding out.I actually found the perfect alternative.

Velcro rollers.Large ones.I spritzed my hair at the roots with a volumizing tonic. Then when my hair was barely damp I rolled the top of my hair up.The result is nice full hair thats still soft and touchable.I didnt use any heat or setting spray.Just the rollers and root lifter.
And now a picture.

And here's my new siggy and length update pic since its been awhile.the picture of the front is deceiving since my hair has a sharp V shape.

So of course that wash routine didnt cut it for long. And things got worse after that.I still havent used any heat on my hair. But I've come pretty close.
I keep seeing family member with gorgeous glossy hair thanks to flatirons and blowdryers and its hard to resist.

So I finally got to the root of my hair problems.lolGeek.First off I started back on my big dose of biotin again. And lo and behold my hair is filling in like crazy.I have lots of new growth all over.My thyroid levels are normal but I'm just not getting everything I need. But the biotin fixes that.I wouldnt reccomend my dose for everyone though.5000mcg is a bit much.

And I fixed another bigger problem, but not without running into(creating) more problems first. So the source of my hair's dryness has been Extremely hard water all along.I tried many herbal remedies and such. They never really took care of the problem. In fact things would work once or less.... and then be just as bad if not worse than before. My hair was starting to get lots of splits.

So i found a simple answer to my problem.which should have been obvious.A chelating shampoo.I was really eager to try one out so I bought Joico's version. This is where the problems begin. It worked great the first few times. My hair was super shiny soft and felt stronger. But of course it started to feel dry,but different than before. So I chalked it up to the fact that its was also a clarifying shampoo. So I buy shampoo #2 Malibu 2000 swimmers shampoo.I figure it will be great since it uses gentle sulfates. And it  does feel a bit more moisturized. But now my hair is getting brittle and breaking all over.thatsit.It was obvious by this point what the real problem was.It was protein!! Both shampoo's have major protein in them. Can you say dummy.I knew my hair didnt like protein but I thought since it was in the shampoo it wouldnt be so bad.

So I was due to clarify anyhow so I put on my suave naturals conditioner which contains Disodium EDTA a strong chelator but probably a miniscule amount in this conditioner. Then I mixed a bit of suave naturals shampoo which has tetrasodium edta (a light chelator) and nuetrogena anti residue formula to get rid of some biuld-up as well.I followed up  with loreal's mega moisture conditioner. My hair although still kind of dry was alot better and the breakage was nearly nonexistent.Great Success!Thumbs%20Up

So my hair isnt terrible but does have some splits.I bought shampoo#3 hopefully this will be the last one I have to buy.I bought Ultraswim in moisturizing formula. It doesnt have any protein tha I can tell plus it contains a nice dose of the ever important Disodium EDTA.I know my hair is forever damaged. But hopefully I can get a new start and keep my virgin hair nice and moisturized.I'm torn over a trim.I dont want to lose length and I know I can make it look nice with a cone leave in.But I also hate having crappy ends.hmmm.....I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens.I'm gonna use this new shampoo and make sure it works before I decide anything.

Hopefully next time I update my journal I can say I had great success with the shampoo and hair is doing great.popcorn

So my hair is better. Its not breaking as bad.And I can tell a difference in texture. After much deliberation I've decided to cut off an inch or two.My hair hasnt gotten much longer because of all the previous trims and setbacks. My trims make things worse. So I'm going to go to my old hairdresser Camus and have her do it for me.I know I can trust her.Plus she can give my hair a little more shape.

So I've been pretty moody lately.I'm just at a wierd point in my life where I'm sick of being a slave to routine. That includes mundane things like my hair regime. So I've been doing alot less. And surprisingly it looks "better".Usually after my shower I blot til damp then gently detangle. Then apply a leave-in(usually ojon or softee indian hemp treatment). Then after it has completely dried I apply more leave in to tame it further.I have stopped doing all of that.I lightly blot my hair then do nothing else to it.That means no combing or leave-ins.I dont even bother after its dry.I tried it out of annoyance but my hair actually looks alot better this way.Its much less frizzy and has actual shine. It seems counter productive, but I'm all for an easier way.

And now for a new length shot:

I do like my hair long, but I'm not sure I want it any longer than it is.I'm just not really sure if I'm up for the care it needs.I dont remember it being this much work.I just dont have the time or the desire to spend this much time on my hair.I'm not going short again. But I'm not sure if I'll let it get much longer.

So I have been sticking to doing nothing. And I have to say I love it.I trimmed my hair myself while it was wet and it worked alot better.I think it might have been the dry trims that were the problem. My hair still is dry on the length but its alot better. The henna'd part just doenst have shine, plus its alot drier than my virgin hair.I guess henna really isnt for everyone.

I went out and bought a heat protector And Boar bristle round brush.I had this idea to blowdry every now and then to do something different.Today was the first day in two years I styled my hair with heat. And it actually was pretty disappointing. It looked shiny and pretty,but.... It sucked the moisture right out of it.My hair ended up tangling.I've discovered some nice waves since not combing after washing my hair. And I missed them.Plus my hair feels alot better natural, and doesnt tangle much.It doesnt shine as much when airdryed and left alone. But it does have a healthy sheen.Needless to say I wont be doing that again. It seems silly to since swearing off irons and blowfryers I have found alot of ways to style my hair that dont need them.

I did have DH take a pic just to document this rare occasion.

So I'm going to stick to my routine since its working so well.Hopefully I wont get anymore wild hairs.I really do like my hair long.I just need to keep my goal in sight.I decided to go for BSL for now since its been such a struggle getting this far.If I had done things differently I would already be a BSL.But I'm on my way.

So.... I did something a bit abrupt.I have been pretty good about keeping it simple where my hair is involved. But DH proposed that I go red.He said he liked it that color. So since this is like the third time he's said something I decided why not.I bought a box of Loreal pro hicolor   in simmering red.It turned out really nice.I do admit I miss my dark hair. But the red is growing on me.I dont have any good pics yet,but I'll post some soon.

I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not.But If I dont I think  I'll go to my old stylist and let her do a tint back to avoid any mistakes. Its not any worse for wear.Maybe slightly drier but I was expecting worse.

So I have a couple of pics. The first one is dirty hair, but shows how bright it is in the sun.And the second one of course shows it inside.Plus you can see the difference between the hair that was virgin and the henna'd length.

I'm still not sure if I want to keep it or not.It does make my skin look glowy and healthy.I think I'll keep it for a little longer.

On another note I've been keeping to my old routine and it still is working well.Who knew not brushing could be this good.

badday So I just posted yesterday how I was gonna wait and see how it went with this red hair deal. But I am 100% positive that i truly hate my hair red.I had really grown to love my hair.I just wanted to make myself a bit sexier for my husband. But I dont feel even half as sexy as I did with my natural hair.If it took me bleaching it platinum to feel my sexiest I would do that.Red just isnt me anymore. Its actually wierd to me that I want to be a color I tried to cover up for years.I hadnt seen my virgin hair for so long. And turns out I love it now.Good for my hair and wallet.

So It looks like I'll be either making a trip to sally's(I'm impatient and capable) or making an appointment with my old hairdresser to cover this crap up.In all fairness it does look good. Many people have told me so.Plus it has been attracting alot of attention from strangers. But its just not me.I'll probably go the home job route.I was hoping it might work out just for the sheer fact that I put my hair through so much already. But its all for the best.So I guess my next post will be update pics for length.I see a possible trim in my future. And also a color update.I'm actually happy about making the change back.Star

Alot has happened since the last time I posted.I was contemplating abandoning the hairboards that includes LHC due to events in my life.I found out I was pregnant with #3.I was super excited.I have been trying for awhile. And then I lost the baby.I'm not sure why I'm even posting that here.....

Anyhow I'm trying to get back on track.I'm ready to get my mind body and hair back into shape. My hair really did start to look bad after the red.i tried to dye it back but it didnt take very well.So I then used BAQ henna/indigo.It made a huge difference. My hair seemed to benefit from it this time.I also used Catherine's new henna for african hair. Its the best henna I've ever used. Its super fine which makes it easy to mix get in and more importantly get out.Plus it gave a nice dark stain.

My only problem is it still had a red tint to it.I dont like my hair to be red brown. It just makes my skin look awful.I knew I didnt want to dye anymore.Even though my hair is still doing good doesnt mean one more wont be the final nail in its coffin. So i bought manic panic in dark blue. Not sure what color exactly? So I had no idea how potent it was so I mixed it with conditioner half and half.My hair was dark blue and green.I'm suprised since I've used special effect colors to tone my hair before and they never showed their true color on my dark hair. But after a few washes it faded to exactly what I wanted. My original haircolor!,lol

So my hair is a little rough from the dye still but I trimmed a little. And my hair loves protein since being injured. So the combination of protein and manic panic toner makes my hair appear healthyparty. And I'm ok with that.Hopefully I wont have to bad of PP shed. if at all.... Oh yeah and it might be awhile before I get any quality pics up.My camera was drowned in a river on a kayak trip, lol.

The end of an era.....

I should really post a picture with the words fail written across it over my face, lol. So I waited and finally decided that the time has come to cut my hair.My hair has been terrible since dying it red.I can get it to be ok.But its alot of work. Its funny I said I would never have short hair again. My husband said it best this weekend "I'm suprised she lasted this long".No truer words have been spoken.I'm not just cutting because of damage. It will be cute, and quick, hella cheaper, and fun.I've become so bored with my hair.I agree there is nothing boring about long pretty hair.It trumps all other hair.But... its such a pain in the butt for me personally.Especially since I'm doing so much extra to keep the damage at bay.To be honest I feel like my hair started out as something fun to do and look forward to.But over time its become a burden and oh so boring. This weekend I was putting up insulation board and I got caulk in my hair.I didnt even care.i knew It would have to be cut out.But I just dont care anymore. So I know that I'm doing the right thing.

I still dont want to be one of those little old ladies with short hair. But for now I'm going back to shorter. And when It stops being fun and easy I'll grow it out.Because its just hair. And if I'm not enjoying it whats the point? Anything else is just not me.I will make sure to post the pics after I cut it.I think I'll cut it to look like it did when it was growing out. but now I'll post one more pic of my hair as it is.I think the picture makes it look much better than it actually is.Star

You hair is beautiful an look so healthy in your pictures.

Thank you very much suicides eve.it makes me feel good to know other people actually read my journal.
So after my last post I cut about two inches off.I figured it couldnt hurt if I was just planning on cutting it short anyhow. But it made me realize I really do like my hair longer.I looked at some of the meet reports on LHC.Talk about motivational.Plus I started using my blowfryer again. But I realized my hair doesnt look any better blowfryer styled than my normal bun waves style.
I did have a pretty big setback after dying red.It really trashed my hair.I did it because my husband seemed to want it.But after I did it he didnt seem to care ,lol. But I should have known better since he's just as fickle as me.
So I guess the first thing I want to do is try to be more creative.Growing my hair out has really forced me to try alot of new things that I wouldnt have otherwise.I love the look of hairsticks and forks and I have a few nice ones but they arent really me.They're more for when the mood strikes methatsit.I do know if I'm going to be serious about it I have to give up the heat tools again.I'm not positive I'll stick to it.but we'll see.It would be nice to be at waist with healthy hair.I want it right now,but priorities change.I do have respect for the people who set out to grow and stick it through to the end.So no pixie for me ,for now.My updates are going to be pretty boring since I'm between shoulders and apl.It would be nice to eventually have pictures that make others want to grow their hair,lol.danceparty.Yeah okay I know the danceparty smilie doenst fit but there are so many new smilie's I want to use them all,lol.batman3stooges
bigball&chainhorseOk, now I'm done.

Ok, so remember when I said I was fickle, lol. Yes my screen name is longhairdreams but i have short hair.Whatev...

So I decided on a whim to get it cut.It was definitely a shock.I think I was hiding behind my hair a bit.It was an impulse decision so I went to a salon in walmart since it was the only one open on a sunday. The girl didnt really do what I asked but it turned out nice and I wasnt expecting miracles.Especially since it only cost $13 including getting my hair washed, lol.Besides being impulsive and fickle I also happen to be cheap, lol. So Its about lip length in front and chin in back due to layering. It has cute short bangs that are just higher than the top of my eyebrows.I usually push them to the side for more of a sweep, but they look cute across too.

I do think I'm a long hair girl at heart, but I know that short hair looks good on me too.Its been wonderful having shorter hair.Washing and drying take alot less time.I dont have to do anything washing.I comb it out and let it dry.It really is a good cut.I have been playing with pomade too.I'm sure I'll grow again.I'm not even positive I'll maintain this cut.But I'm enjoying it for now.I've been thinking about getting some highlights since I've cut all the henna out.Nothing crazy.Just some lighter brown shades. I dont have any pictures yet,but I'll post them when i get some.

I'm glad to finally be rid of henna.I know everyone say's how great it is.Yeah it makes my hair shiny at first but the hair thats henna'd just doesnt feel nearly as nice as virgin or even dyed with chemicals.Everyones hair is different.Thats one trend I wish I had ignored.I dont think people realize how permanent it is.It is far more permanent than regular dye. With regular dye you can use a sulfur based remover,or even bleach it out. With henna bleach will destroy your hair.So I think i'll stick to my bad dyes if I decide to change my color.

I'm still staying with my same routine. It worked for my hair when it was long and its still working.I'm sure I'll integrate some protein in there if I start playing with color.

And I just want to thank everyone who encouraged me whil I was growing.I probably would have cut alot sooner without you.cheer

So it took me about 5 seconds to get over my short hair, lol.I fell in the same role so many women do.I was still sorting through alot of stuff good and bad.And sadly my hair was the unfortunate victim.

So its back to the drawing board. Its not all bad though.I already know what my hair likes and hates.I've got a good solid wash routine. And I dont have any henna left as far as I'm awarehooray.I would rather bleach my hair than henna again. But I still  admire all those beautiful henna heads.

My hair isnt virgin.I dyed it with wella permanent dark brown before I cut it.It went too dark basically black.I hated it so much. But luckily it faded. Its still not perfect, but knowing myself it never will be.

And in other news.I havent told anyone for fear of jinxing it.But,i'm pregnant with baby #3.I'm so excited. It will be good for my hair too.My hair grew really quick last time.Which is good for impatient people like me.
I still dont have any pictures. But with it being the holidays I'm sure some will surface.I'm ready to grow again.Hopefully I will be ready for the long term commitement this time(thank you bob for your kind words.)

I actually like the fact that people took the time to write in my journal. So feel free if its ok with karen and the mods that is.I dont have a problem with it.

I'm still pregnant.party And very crazy.I might have mentioned on here before, but I dont have a thyroid after a huge dose of RAI.Since I'm pregnant I knew from past experience that my levels would probably drop quite a bit.And I was correct.I went from 120 mg of  to 180 mg of armour. I know it seems insignificant. But your thyroid does alot.Because of my levels being lower I was getting really depressed and crazy.Plus it put weight on me which I knew wasnt from being pregnant.Granted it was only 5 lbs.But that might as well be 20 on my 5'3 frame.I'm just glad its all sorted out.

Hair news.... well there really isnt any.I do have some new hair pics but i really dont want to post those since my face is in them. And yes I know I've posted my face in the past but I'm scared now.I dont want to end up like the poor "potential boy".Or featured in the montage of people set to "who let the dogs out.No thank you.So If you want to see them Go to LHC.Or if I trust you I'll send it to you upon request . I wasnt planning on posting until after christmas. But I got some new stuff that I'm excited about. So I got in on the beautyfix deal.I got mine from dermstore since they were running a promotion. With every $50 you spend you could get a redpoint gift set.It came in a pretty red clutch. It had a full size redpoint bronzer and kabuki.Plus it had like 20 really good samples of skincare, bath, and makeup.Pretty nice GWP.

So anyhow on to the beautfix.I just got it Sunday since me a husband celebrate yule.So anyhow it came with a full size bottle of this stuff called kronos phyx. Its like the overnight hair treatments by ted gibson and frederic fekkai. It retails for $109.I didnt pay that much.I payed $50 and that was for a bag full of 7 full size products and 2 samples.I love a deal.
I havent had the chance to try it.But im going to try it out tonight.I'm really excited.I realize it might just be another well hyped product. But I'm not out much if it is.And anything that works on my hair is a winner.  So I'm gonna try it out tonight before bed.I'm dressing up tommorow for the family christmas party so hopefully my hair will have a little extra bounce and shine.party

I'm not sure what I think about some of the other products yet.But i love the Jane iredale 24 Karat gold dust.It makes a beautiful eyeshadow.I tried it yesterday and it stayed on my oily lids all day long without any prepping.Plus it is super pigmented. And it only cost $12.I have rose-gold.I'm gonna get some other colors i love it so much.

And I made a new album just for newer hair pics.

drunk So merry christmas everyone.

So I used the kronos phyx 3 times. And I can honestly say its really no better than any other protein treatment.I get the same results from my nexxus therapee shampoo. And that only cost me $9 on sale. And the kronos retails for $109. I'm sure it works good on damaged hair, but so does loreal's ineral hair fixer and that is pretty cheap. In fact I can think of many products that work the same for damaged hair and cost far less.I think the big draw was tyhe fact that its used as an overnight treatment. And it doesnt get on your sheets or pillowcases. But it would be easier to use a leave-in.

My ens were a little dry from using it.So I took my loreal mega moisture conditioner and used it as an overnight treatment.I then clarified in the morning with my neutrogena anti-residue shampoo and a mix of suave naturals shampoo. Then I conditioned with the mega moisture. My hair felt and looked alot better.I think I do an overnight condition from now on before clarifying just to make it less drying.

I went to ulta and found a trial size of alterna's caviar shampoo and conditioner.I figured it would be another hyped up product. My hair actually looks and feels fantastic after using it.I dont think it would be good to use regularly  but when I want my hair to look extra nice.

I think I'm going to buy another ficcare.I had one before a beautiful ivory and gold lotus maximas. And I made the mistake of swapping it.I'm still kicking myself for it.Especially since the prices seem to have gone up since last time I bought it.I think I'll get a small one so I can wear it now.And get myself the medium and large as rewards for my hair getting to a length where I can wear them.

Other news:I still havent been to the doctor yet.I need to do that soon. And my family is stressing me out.I guess everyone has been talking behind our backs about how worried they are.Its insulting. We are doing fine.No we dont make 100's of thousands of dollars but we live comfortably. And we are taking good care of our children. They are fed and clothed and and most importantly loved and happy. We have never asked any of them for anything ever.We have always taken care of ourselves and thats not going to change.I just wish they could be happy for us.

I'm almost at a length to start posting back pics again. My hair is growing really fast.I'd say its grown 2 inches since the cut.I havent touched the color. But I have to admit this pregnancy is making me a little crazy.i should be banned from any salon/ supply store for the next 6 months, lol. One thing i do plan on doing that I had decided before getting the crazies was dye the underneath.I had dyed the underneath  a near black with a henna/ indigo 2 step before the whole chop incident and it looked great. The top layer was a mix of chemical dye henna/indigo and it looked really pretty with the natural highlights over the darker underside.I'm not going to henna my whole head. Its just not for me.But it works well on the underside.

I finally went to the doctor.I'm doing good.they had an ultrasound machine in every room.So I got to see the baby which was nice.I had to wait alot longer with my other two to have an ultrasound. He's the only doctor I've spoken to that does VBAC's.So he definitely gets points from me.He seems to really care about his patients.

Rant:So when exactly did I turn into a desperate housewife, lol.I'm a stay at home mom to two boys and babysit a my neice as well all day every day.Which I do feel lucky that I'm able to do that.My husband works two jobs so we can do this but he is gone sooo much.I promised myself I wouldnt turn into one of those ugly burnt out moms.Myabe this is my payback for looking at those poor poor women so harshly, lol.I dress up once a week for the family sunday dinner. My fantastic husband takes care of everything so I can shower, and take my time picking out an outfit and do my makeup. The rest of the week my wardrobe consists of what was on the floor next to my bed.Usually sweats and a tshirt.stylish, huh?I used to be good about making myself dress in real clothes, but have more recently gotten really lazy.I knew I was getting bad when I waited outside for my son to get off the school bus .... in my robe!  I guess my belated new years resolution would be to take better care of myelf.I guess I'm just complaining on here because complaining out loud would be an insult to my husband who works his butt off.

So I finally took some pictures.Which also triple as my cute new dress my husband got me for vday, and my big pregnant belly pictures.I'm having great hair days lately.I have been washing alot less than I was. Before I washed every other day and even every day depending on what was going on.I just really like the look and feel of freshly washed hair. Its especially hard since my hair makes a pathetic excuse of a ponytail at the moment. Its long enough to look cute when clean but as soon as its dirty the pony just looks stupid.

I finally broke down and bought a nice shower filter.I'm not sure if its the filter or the washing less but my hair is incredibly better.I'm now washing every third day.I started just before I got the shower filter.I still wash the same.Suave naturals shampoo followed by loreal mega moisture. And A dab of Ojon RT for the ends to seal in the moisture. My hair had been getting frizzy after washes before, but now its completely smooth.Which is funny because I had just bought that no frizz creme and had good results. But now I dont need it.

I recently dyed the underneath back to dark brown almost black like it had been before. My hair seems to like the hendigo on the underneath. Its the canopy that seems to be a problem. I just realized after taking pictures that my hair is exactly the same length it was in june of 07.UGH.Cutting my hair was such a dummy move.I'm just glad its growing fast.I'm just hoping my post partem shed isnt too bad.

LOL, its true I am my own worst critic. But maybe this time I've really learned my lesson. For one I hate to admit failure. And second in the past when I had a major cut or color change It gave me a boost. But that just hastn been the case. When I dyed my hair red I hated it.And when I cut my hair short I really hated it.I just dont get the same surge of confidence I did in the past.

And I really do appreciate all the support I've gotten from people it really does help.Thank you mike46019,fatmoogas,Davedecker,suicides eve, paper, smilin jen and any others I may have missed.

I dont really have any hair news.My hair has been blindingly shiny since spacing out washings and getting the new filter. But other than that its like waiting for water to boil. And I bought some of the no rinse shampoo for those times when my hair needs to look clean but its not quite a wash day.I havent properly tried it out yet but it smells wonderful.I may try it out tomorrow since I'm stretching this wash to the fourth day which will be sunday.I'll report back on the results for anyone who's interested.

I know its been awhile. But life has been pretty hectic. There is still alot to do and buy before the baby is born.I cant believe I'm already over 6 months along. This pregnancy is flying by.

My hair is doing good.I did try out the no rinse shampoo. It does work, but I wont be using it.It leaves your hair dull looking.Plus I think it works better on short hair.My hair looked clean, but it took awhile to get all the moisture out and it still felt gross.I used it on my boys hair for a quick fix one day and it worked great.

I was noticing alot of splits so i decided to do a search and destroy. It turned into adding new layers.I knew it was only a matter of time before my hair split around my face due to razoring from my last haircut.I just need to make peace with the fact that my hair fragile. And I'm like a bull in a china store.I want to treat it like antique lace but I'm rough and impatient by nature. My hair was alot better when I was wearing it up with my hair forks. But the front layers dont even begin to fit into the bun yet.
So anyhow new pictures to come and maybe even a baby bump picture.Depending on how brave I am.

Thanks Bob for the congrats.Aint it the truth about razors.I even asked the stylist to not razor my hair cause it always ended looking shredded and damaged after a few months. So of course she took that to mean that she had the go ahead to use her thinning shears on the front sections of hair.I didnt make a big deal since I hadnt really planned on growing out the next day, lol.

So I've been meaning to come and update my journal but I've been fighting and losing against various infections, mainly a sinus infection. But Thanks to tylenol I'm back and I come bearing pictures.Ok so my length picture is kind of sad.I barely had any growth since the last pic,but my hair is doing and feeling great.Plus Every wash has been great which is unusual for my hair.Generally I have more bad hair days than good ones. But lately they've all been good.So I must be doing something right.
So here's the link. There's no password. But I couldnt get the picture to resize.Photobucket hates me.

So I have since getting my shower filter tweaked my hair routine. And I think it has helped alot.I still use the same products. But now when I shampoo with suave naturals I concentrate on the scalp and then without applying more shampoo squeeze it into the length. Its plenty to clean my ends without stripping them. Then after I rinse I apply either paul mitchell the detangler conditioner or loreal mega moisture co.They both seem to work better when I alternate them. Then I use ojonRT as a leave in on the ends of my still wet hair.I use my wood comb the ditribute it through my hair. The result is soft healthy hair.Plus I try to oil my hair every night before bed and washing.I've been using jessicurl's premixed oil for softer hair.It never worked for my hair in the past. But my hair loves it now. I'm bad about schedules and such so I of course dont oil every night.I'm one of those who forgets to take my thyroid pill even though i keep them in a pill dispenser.Heck most of the time I forget to put them in the dispenser.

And here's a bump pic if you managed to actually read through all the boring hair chronicles.

Oh it's so exciting!! You look sooooo good! Your one of the lucky ones who stays skinny and prego and looks great doing it!

And I can see a difference in growth. it's actually grown quite a bit past your shoulders then before. Do you think the shower head filter had something to do with your hair suddenly behaving a bit better?

Take care,
Suicides~Eve

I'm back. Its been a busy couple of months.I had my son july 16th.We are both doing good. He's sleeping so I finally got a chance to come back here for a minute. For anyone who might be interested he was born at 6lbs 6 ounces.Had a head full of dark blond hair.

Lets see I dont have any hair pics yet,but my hair has grown quite a bit. I had found quite a few new products my hair seems to like.I was at an outlet store where they had a tub of goldwells deep conditioner for curly hair.My hair loved it.It was only $3.When I went looking for more I found out it was discontinuedCry.Plus it accidentally fell in the tub and spilled out a good amount.I have enough for a couple more uses.Needless to say I'm saving it for a special occasion. I tried out another similar goldwell product and it doesnt perform nearly as well.

So after having great hair days with the goldwell I decided to keep looking for better products since I seem to be running low anyways on my normal hair stuff. One thing I tried and have had excellent results with is johnsons and johnsons mild baby wash as shampoo.I bought it for my son.Usually baby wash is harsher because its made to get rid of cradle cap.But this stuff really is gentle and mild.It takes more than my suave and I have to do a little scalp scrub. But the results are worth it.I picked up a bottle at trader joe's( am I the only who really doesnt care for that place) of the the citrus nourish spa conditioner, and aloe vera gel.My hair really likes the gel.I'm still on the fence about the conditioner.

My layers are looking a little ratty. So I'm either going to get new pair of scissors or go in for a trim. While I'm afraid a hairdresser might cut off too much I'm not real good at trimming up my layers. After its done I will definitely take some new pictures.I'm curious to see how much its grown.

Thanks everyone. So I got my hubby to take a pic a couple of nights ago.
It looks like the sun highlighted my hair a bit.If you look carefully you can see the dry ends of the layers.I snipped those off yesterday.I didnt want to lose any length so it was a teeny tiny trim.It feels better.I'll just need to baby the ends until I decide I cant take it again.

your compliments are very much appreciated.
So I microtrimmed my hair, but it just didnt get my hair to where I wanted.Plus I did a choppy job on my layers. So I decided to go to a real salon.I had the color matched to my roots since my hair had bleached so much from the sun and swimming pool. And then the stylist trimmed up my layers.Needless to say I'm very happy. My hair feels alot better. And the color makes it look helathy again.I might maintain with a semi just to keep it fresh. The stylist was really rough and not friendly at all,but he did a good job.So I can live with that.I wont be going back to him in the future.

My wash routine has been going through some renovations since my hair has different needs now.I just started mixing my shampoo with suave naturals conditioner with good results. And I'm back to using my super skinny serum mixed with oil.I'll just need to remember to clarify more often.
Now If only I could get back to my pre baby size I'd be pretty happy.I got down to 126 within a week. But now I'm stuck there.Thumbs%20Down. I have been trying to get back to running, but I've been so tired from the on demand feedings.I just want to be ready for the mini marathon come may.thats my ultimate goal no matter what size I am.

And now for the picture after going to the salon.

I love the new pic after ur stay at the salon :) what is ur goal length?

Pburgh: I try not to set goal lengths since I'm so fickle with my hair.

So its been awhile since I updated my journal, but not much had changed.Plus I've been very busy.I have the same wash routine minus the super skinny serum.I now use elasta qp oil moisturiser as my leave-in.It works great and it was pretty cheap.

I've been doing home trims but nothing major. And I went to a salon and had my highlighted. They turned out nice and subtle. My only two gripes are the fact that the stylist tacked on $30 extra from what she quoted. And she said she parted my hair to cover the bald spots. She knew I just had a baby, plus my hair may be thin but I'm far from bald.

Anyhow here's a newer hair pic from when i got my highlights. And I let the stylist flat-iron my hair which seems to make it look less smooth than normal.

Your hair's lookin' super, LHD. Wishing you many years of joy with your little one! Heart
But BALD SPOTS? Some stylists are insufferable! So many try to obliquely steer their customers into shorter, more layered, more ultimately discouraging styles by making unwarranted snide remarks. She oughta be ashamed of herself, but that kind never is! An insecure customer is a regular customer! Beware, and pay no attention to such nonsense. Blessings, Bob

Thanks bobSmile.Your right about her trying to steer me into a shorter style. She would have had better luck by stroking my ego.I was pretty shocked when she said it.I've been told my hair is fried, dry, thin, flat, mousey. But the bald one is a first.Shocked

Your hair is looking very nice, and far far away from being bald.  Congrats on the baby.  You will have to share pics of the bundle when you get a chance.

I cant believe how long its been since I updated this journal.I knew I didnt want to unless I had a picture, and my camera was broken. But Someone gave me the camera so I cant complain.

Lets see, despite having some dry ends(from the highlights) my hair is pretty nice.My routine suits me.Lets see suave naturals currently the orchid version co on the length.then wash the scalp with the matching shampoo.I squeeze the shampoo into the length then rinse. And then finish with a thick co.Usually loreal mega moisture.I keep my hair up once it starts to look dirty with little octopus clips.Which are so much gentler than ponytail holders. And that includes the kind without the metal.Plus keeping it contained seems to keep moisture in the ends better than when they are free.

Im pretty happy with my growth.Once my hair fills back in and I get some of the ratty ends trimmed off it will look great.
