Hey everyone . my cousins hair is extremly curly and frizzy and
she desperately wants it to be straight. She doesnt want to go
to the salon to get it done but rather do it at home (with help)
herself. So does anyone know of any really good perms to
straighten her hair , would it be okay to use a perm that if for
african american texture ? like dark and lovely although she is
caucasian? thanks a bunch

You cant use an african american relaxer on caucasian hair.Hair texture thickness etc... is different. Those relaxers are made just for their hair .Her hair might fall out from those. And be careful of the over the counter brands that claim to be gentle enough for fine thin hair. Those make your hair look good for a couple of weeks(if your lucky) and then your hair goes frizzy again but stays straight. Its not pretty. And that would be a good result. Some havent been that lucky.I'm sure there is something out there. But I'm married to someone with really curly hair and I think I'm the only one I know with naturally straight hair.Noone I know has found any relaxers that have been good. They either wear it curly with smoothing balm, flatiron,or pay the rediculous prices for salon straightening. If you find anything tell me cause that would be really useful info.Has anyone here with Caucasian hair used a relaxer for awhile with good results?

Actually hair is hair.....and sodium hydroxide is sodium hydroxide. As for strand thickness, though, the result of the straightening process will be affected by the thin- or thickness of the hair. That would probably explain why some products don't straighten at all for some people and other products literally melt away some people's hair. The best bet is to go to a trusted professional stylist for a chemical service. (Embarrassed I know from a really bad experience!!!Embarrassed) Otherwise, she can try Phyto's Relaxing Baum after a shampoo or conditioner, roll her hair tautly with medium sized rollers, and then dry under a hard-hat dryer. When her hair is fully dried, she can then go over each rolled section with a blow-dryer and ceramic brush. It is labor intensive but should work well.
