I wanted to start this thread to ask others for honest advice with their personal experiences....NOT personal opinions

Many of you have been rather open regarding cosmetic surgery...BA

I'm having those last minute *jitters* because I'm not completly sure which incision to use.Either inframam(underneath) or transaux(armpit) I know each has their pros/cons. I have seen several of his patients... His work is Oh So Natural!

Back to the topic at hand(or at breast ) Please...all who are willing to share...I'd appreciate any food for thought!

May 25 is my big day...haha, but not *that* big >300cc

Hey there! I had transaux (armpit) method and I am very glad-
absolutely NO scarring. I went from an A cup to a small C cup.
I had mine done in 1997 with no problems. I have even had a
second child since then and breastfed. It was the best thing
that I have ever done for my self-esteem. Be prepared for the
pain; however, take the meds and don't try to be strong. I tried
to be strong and it took longer to get up and going. If you have
any questions just let me know! I am very open about it! Hope
this helps.

Weird...I just had surgery on the 27th....all though it wasn't what you're getting....I had a tummy tuck ( due to significant weight loss ) with out the abdominal plication and figured I might as well have some lipo to smooth out my hips and make everything look over all better....hmm..I'd say....do the armpit one....I'd think the scar if any wouldnt be as noticeable....who really looks at your pitts anyways...GOOD LUCK

Hey Gina, are you getting some boobies?

I got mine 8 years ago and it was one of the best things I ever did!

My incisions were on the perimeter of the ariola (colored area around the nipple) and it healed great!  You can hardly see a thing.  At the time I was in college and working as a topless dancer, so not having a scar was super important.

This should amuse you, I got 910cc!  I went from a 36B to a 38DD!  I had to totally beg the Doc to let me go that big, but on my body frame, it actually looks in proportion.  I'm 5'10" and have wide, curvy hips, so that's why I wanted biggies to balance out the bottom half!

Since than, I also had lipo of hips, tummy, thighs, kness.  That was also no big deal, but some of those incisions are still visible.

Also, the pain with the boob job was minimal, some burning from them being put under the muscle, I was out shopping and going to the movies just 2 days after.

Pain with lipo was also not bad.  I was given viccodin, and it made me break out in a itchy rash, so I just took extra strength tylanol, and that worked fine.

I have many clients who have had this done they all have one thing that they say you need to sleep in a recliner after because you can't get up otherwise !! so have one handy. One of them brusied so bad she siad she looked like a courpse she is very thin and that may have somthing to do with how much you brusise and how much they are streching the skin. allso you need someone to help you shower you wont be able to raise your arms to wash your hair. they all have gone uderarm and under the muscle. I have only met one who thought it was a breeze ( high pain tolerance she says). None of them have any regrets and would go thrugh it again.

Metal girl...when you had lipo did you get like a lump around the area and have to massage it or whatever...

Posted By: metalgirl

Rach,

It felt a little lumpy in some of the spots, but within a few months the lumpiness went away.  I didn't massage it or anything, though.

metal girl..ahh ok...the sheet they gave me for post op said to massage them but not over do it....but since my tummy tuck incision goes almost completely around so I do a little but i'm to nervous to mess with it to much cause it's near there...

Gina...not sure if you are...but if you're a smoker and you're doc hasn't said anything quit now....a few years back when my husband re-enlisted I was going to do what I just had done and the doc there ( Seattle ) wouldn't do it until I quit smoking.....but we decied to buy furniture with his re-enlistment bonus instead of that..lol...the doc here ( SC ) didn't say anything about it all though all the literature say it's best not to...Did I quit this time around......no....but the only prob has been the steri strips which i'm not sure you'll have..or if smoking would even be an issue with you surgery...

I did have quite a bit of bruising- straight down the middle of my
chest; however, that subsided after a couple of weeks. It felt
VERY tight initially-like I couldn't breathe in all the way. Also, I
felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest due to the
tightness. Not fun, but bearable IF you take your meds. The tip
about sleeping in a recliner is very good- I had to sleep with
about 10 pillows under me for the same result- you can't push
yourself up from a horizontal postion.   The smoking issue is
due to anethesia- it makes it more difficult to sleep and arouse
you if you are a smoker due to decreased pulmonary function.
Metalfirl- you must be much tougher than me!! I definitely wasn't
out shopping after 2 days- it took me about 4-5 days to feel like
getting out. I think I have a fairly good pain tolerance too

Gina - I just got mine in march (275 cc) LOVE 'EM!!

The pain went away in about 3-4 days (meds helped) sleeping was the hardest a recliner or those  support chairs for reading in bed are great.  I had inframam incision (underneath).  The scar is fading beautifully, you can still see it a little bit, but only when you lift and look for it (remember this is a fresh scar, so I expect it to fade even more).

Advice- the only thing that I didn't realize was the extent of discomfort of the nipple, my Dr. said it doesn't always happen but you can get hypersensitivity (which really hurts!) I learned a little late that all you have to do is put a band aid on them so they don't rub on your clothes. problem fixed! It is not as bad now but still a little sensitive, I was told it takes 9 months for this to completely go away and in some cases it won't.  But this also mean you won't feeling.

All in all, best thing I ever did - and if I had to do it again (which I would) I would get that 300cc! the muscle really pushes them down so they don't look as beg as when they have you try them on.  I am very petite, 5'3" and 103lbs and the 275 looks totally natural! which is what I wanted - I had close to nothing before thanks to breastfeeding.

Any questions - ask away!

oh - and I had no bruising at all, and I also was out of the house at about 2 days but just for small errands like grocery shopping but it was uncomfortable.  My Dr. told me not to lift more than 10lbs for three weeks - well I have a 16 months old daughter so I bent that rule a tad, well a lot but I was just fine.

Much luv ladies!!!!!

I'm not a smoker...Yeah! I've been reading up for years know, so I'm informed on what to expect, ie. pain, sleeping in a recliner, etc. I have a VERY high pain tolerance ( I gave bith o natural) My sis-n-law just got hers done last month. She was out and about...with a little help in 3 days. She keeps preaching to me "Percocet!Percocet...and don't miss a dose!

I've personally seen scars each way, both fresh and old. It's been a toss up for me...but I think I'm goin transaux. Just hope I'm not a bruiser!

The implants I'm using are "high profile" which are fairly new. You get more projection with les cc's. Again, I'm just wanting a conservative size....I'd hate to draw attention away from my cutie booty

justamom....ya that was part of it for the smoking but it was for healing as well.....they pull your skin off your abs so it's more of a blood flow issue since smoking restricts blood vessels....but so far so good....curse the steri strips........

Maybe if you don't have a recliner you can rent one....from like rentway or something....wish we had..I had hard to get up from the couch...my husband almost picked me up each time...when i'm a little more swollen at night he still has to give me a hand......not that it would be that way for you because i had something differnt done..just idea...

Did any of you use anything to help with the overall appearance of the scar?..I'm going to have a big one regardless....and it still looks like they stitched me up like a piece of veal..and i'm pretty pale so the more I can do to help the better i think...

Gina...Percocet is your friend the first few days...well it was for me until I had my drain pulled...I think that was the worst part now it's just not sitting wrong on the bruises....I'm defintly a bruiser..still have the IV bruise..but at least I can shower now...are you getting excited yet?..

Am I excited? Does a bear $hit in the woods? YES!!!!!! Although I go back and forth...scared, excited, scared, excited

I'm stockin up on meds, now. Vicoden/dearvocet make me through up. So I gotta have either perco. or demaral. The doc said he'd give me nausea patches, phenergan, and valium-though I'm vetoing that and demanding xanax!

Hmm..Rach...About those sars I've heard you can get laser to reduce them. So, you should maybe look into that.

Gina...I didn't get excited until the night before when i looked in the mirror and realized I was going to look completely differnt...I got a little nervous when I walked in the room and glanced over at the instrument they use for lipo...then I just told myself look at the ground....look at the ground...think flat stomach...and getting rid of my mom's hips.....

eeewww.... I had demerol when I had my wisdom teeth taken out and it gave me the worst headaches..had some vicodin and tylonel 3 when I broke my ankle and it's not bad but Percocet helps you sleep..it did for me at least...since I'm a stomach sleeper and early on I couldnt ( still have to put a pillow under one leg just started sleeping in the bed...)stuck in uncomfortable legs lifted position on couch and then the drain....

Laser..hmm....nah..lol..I think I'm pretty much done as far as cosmetic surgery goes....the scar would be hidden even if I wore a bikini but I dont really plan on it any time soon ...pale skin bad sun burn....my mom always said coco butter or vitamin E ....i don't like the smell of coco butter though....

I am trying a streatmark cream that is supposed to be for scars too. Now I can't speak personally on it yet because I have only been using it for 1 week now, although it does already look better, I'm not really sure though.  My friend used it for streatchmarks after her baby and it worked great for her.

rachel -- I totally understand that.  I'm a certified aerobics, pilates, spinning, etc instructor.  Mine go maybe from a 36DD to a 32/34 DD but the difference between my back size and my boob size (the over - the under measurements) stays the same pus or minus a half inch.  so they get even saggier but not smaller.

I've got the money socked away and everything.  But I need to be at any wiegth stably for a reasonable period of time and suck it up about the huge ass scars its going to leave.  I figure I'll one of them reduced(matching is good).  maybe both reduced somewhat, and have fake ones put in under the muscle where there are less likely to sag ever.  I don't know why I'm so damn nervous.  It's not like I'd pull my shirt up and show them off on one of those girls gone wild videos right now.  But I guess there's no way to even imagine it after the scars.  But god for my back not to hurt quite so much and to be able to laze around the house braless without all the weird chafing issues...

yup need to get to any weight and stay there.  maybe over Christmas. break this year...  But I know it will be two weeks bed rest.  I'd meant to do it this yer but my job got in the way and now I'm up 15 lbs... argh....

hey ladies....there is something called Mederma...u can get it at walmart and stuff...Its expensive...but if you use it like they tell you too..it will definately heal it up good and the scar will minimize...i definately recommend staying out of the sun for a long time...or keeping it out of the sun....trust me i had one scar right below my bikini line....and i kept it out of the sun and it healed great and then i just tanned for like a month or so and everything evened out...but i had another mole removed because it had cancer on my upper arm where it meets my shoulder (if that makes sense) and i went straight back to the tanning bed and kept the stuff on there...BUT it still hasnt healed over correctly and its been a year, so definately keep it out of the sun and cover it up for like 6months ATLEAST!! and you will hopefully be free of a scar with the mederma...vitamin E works too for like when its really scabbby...so i would rub the mederma in and then put the vitamin E oil on top of it! hope this helps! sorry so long!

Hey Gina, I had mine done under the breast, so the scar is in the crease. There is a definite scare but totally not visible since its kind of in the fold/crease. And Im glad I did it that way. I had it done in 1998.

It was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I will never regret it. My only regret is that I didnt go bigger. Seriously. I got 450 cc anatomical implants. My doc wanted to do 500cc and I thought it would be too big. And Im a small framed girl. I weigh 120lbs athough Im 5'7. I look very well proportioned, but I wish I had gone slightly bigger now. When you dont have boobs you always think they look big....but then after you get used to them they dont seem very big at all! So I always tell anyone who is thinking about it, go a size larger than you think you want...cause once you get used to them, they dont seem so BIG!

I had absolutely no bruising but the pain was pretty intense for a few days. I also agree that the removal of the drains was the worst pain! And definitely use some of the scar cream to help minimize the scars!

Good LUCK....Im sure you'll be happy with your decision!

Oh, this is a fun thread! Congratulations, Gina--that's exciting. I've never had any plastic surgery, but I'd really like to (starting with the boobs), and I'm sure I will eventually, when I get my act together.

Interesting about the smoking (I'm a smoker, actually). Do doctors just refuse to do BAs if you smoke or they're just reluctant?

Mocha: You asked about collagen, which is something I have had (not the lips, though--the folds from the nose to the mouth). I had it once about a year ago, and it cost about $400. For me, it was a pretty subtle difference, but definitely a difference, and the needle was slightly uncomfortable, but in no way painful. I had little wounds from the needle for a few days afterward, but then it was fine. I'd get it again, but I don't feel like parting with the $400 just yet. Like I said, I think it was a subtle difference, but nothing I couldn't live without, either. I think this works a bit differently for the lips, if that's what you're looking into.

JennRR...I think it would depend on the doc and the procedure you're having done...Seattle is kinda one of those anti smokers **FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM**..so I think it was realy more that doc...I wouldnt want a doc who wasn't a little concerned about it because of what I had done...seems like I even got a lot more lectures from the Navy docs there then I do here....what I liked about my doc here is that he was very thorough with EVERYTHING...so it made me feel even more at ease

I had mine done in the crease

I didnt want it through the nipple cause I didnt want scars there, or lose any feeling, and I didnt want it through the armpit cause I wear sleeveless shirts a lot and didnt want scars in my armpits.

(edit) I was also extremely lucky with the healing, was off painkillers on the 3rd day and had no swelling and NO bruising, AND they "dropped" in 2 weeks.  I had over 400cc put in, but because Im a bit pigeon chested it doesnt look huge, just a round c cup.  I was suprised how little pain I was in, everyone told me to expect this huge ordeal, I was like "this is it?".

I have only recently gotten a list of doc names.  I figured I'd start with the collagen (around my eyes) and if I was comfortable with the doc move on from there.  I want the collagen anyways so...  The only docs I've spoken to are my friends.  There and mostly GP's.  So while they have suggested some things they have always backed it up with tons of 'this ain't my specialty' disclaimers.

One of my better friends had her's hacked off from an F to a D and is now sad because when she lost weight she went down to a C.  I've seen her scars and poked ata her new boobies.  Correction she had them hacked off twice because she started young and they kept on growing.  I only met her after the second round.  She's a nurse as well and suggested getting the whole lot cut off and going with implants.  They'll stay the same size.

I really want my eyes done up some before I go home this summer.  I was the youngest kid in my hish school class and i want everyone who harrassed me for it to envy me for looking so much younger now...

How long did each of you spend before heading back to work?  Both to desk work and more physical endeavors?

I've had liposuction, collegen in my lips, frown lines, and a few around the eyes. I also had blethoplasty (fat removed from under my eyes) and then lasar surgery around my eyes. I had the liposuction done when I only needed to exercise more and I actually gained weight after the surgery. The collegen I find far too expensive for such a short time with minimal results. But my blethoplasty and eye lasar surgery to get rid of wrinkles was done about five years ago and I don't have any wrinkles around my eyes and I'm in my forties. I want to get the fat taken off the top part of my eyes next. I went to work three days later after the blethoplasty and black eyes to boot.

Hey Gina!  As you know, I have the armpit!  The only bad thing about the armpit imo, is if you have the surgery in the summer time (which you are) no deoderant until the incision heals, and no shaving of the armpits!  My right incision took a little longer to heal because of sweat!  Another thing, I didn't have to do any massaging or pinching of the breasts, mine were right where they supposed to be.

Definitly plan on sleeping in a recliner for the first couple of days!  I didn't quit smoking before or after like they tell you too either.  Smoking does slow the healing process tho.

I just had my second child (he's 5 whopping mos. old now!) & I was unable to breastfeed!  I was kinda bummed, but knew going into this surgery that this was one of the side effects!  I didn't get any milk in at all??

A really great site is, www.implantinfo.com I lived on this site before my surgery over 3 years ago.   Tons of befores and afters & chat.

Good luck Gina, let us know what you decide on the incision mark!

Mocha, the lasar surgery was done in Boston by the same guy who did my blethoplasty to remove fat under my eyes. For the lasar, I was premedicated first with I beleive, Versed but I can't remember now. I laid back in a recliner, and he placed these eye goggle things over my eyes to protect them. Then he used the lasar machine which made a weird sound like a sodering gun and went over my wrinkles around my eyes with it. I think he used it 3 or 4 times. I got up off the chair, and the nurse put vaseline and ice around my eyes. I looked in the mirror and my eyes were all red, but the wrinkles were all gone and still are! I highly reccommend lasar and blethoplasty.

Could anyone tell me how much they paid for their BA or for blethoplasty? (I'm curious about how the costs vary from state to state. I'm in NYC, and I've heard of doctors charging up to 15K here for BA, which is insanity, imo.)

Well Jenny I know I paid alot more than many women have paid for my BA in 1998. But I wanted as natural as possible, at that time the anotomical shaped gel implants was the best option for me and my shape and frame. (And of course more costly) I paid $7000. But I still feel it was WELL worth it.  I really am glad that I went this way....they have a more natural slope to the breast and dont feel as firm. But then I guess its all just a matter of personal preference. $- P cn`dp0% 00BB .64b" !( %($%,!)$!!!!8br 0

Kalika, I wouldnt have a problem with seeing the pictures, believe me I looked at many boobie pictures before during and after my BA. My only concern with posting our boobie pictures would be the pervs and weirdo's that we may start drawing to our board (listen to me..OUR board)

Forget it, Jenny. Just come on out to CA where we do ALL cosmetic procedures and not all at Beverly Hills prices. My teachers assistant is 21 and has the best set of implants I've seen in a LONG time - she paid $3500 for them by an excellent doctor in Huntington Beach. I've seen other of his work (face lift) and it was awesome. Diana's breasts are gorgeous, really - on the big side, but maybe moreso cuz she's tall (5'7" or so) and slender, 130 lbs. She's really happy with them. 3500 bucks. And she made payments.

Come out and have them done and you can stay at my house while you recover enough to get on the plane.

Way to go, Kalika! That's so funny...I've heard that story before of customers doing that for their favorite dancers! Hey, if it makes them happy, who are you to deny their happiness??!!
If you want to post pix, just upload them to photobucket and just post the link on the board.Syren12338482.9924421296

I love this topic!

I'm actually getting ready for a reduction/augmentation in a few months. I've got 5 consultations set up and I've already been to one so far. The first doctor wanted to charge me $16,000 and said he'd give me a discount and do it for $13,000... He was nuts! I'm expecting to pay somewhere around $8,000-$10,000 (financed for the next few years of my life of course!).

I'm a full 36DD right now and I can't stand it... Don't get me wrong I still want to be a small 36D... but I kill myself trying to find a bra to hold the twins up with out them falling out the front! I'm looking to get a reduction, a lift, and a small impant to add more fullness. I'll probably be getting the "anchor scar" which I've heard is the most painful.... has anyone had anything like this or can offer any advice????

I had that exact procedure!! That was back in 1990, but my understanding is the reduction procedure is exactly the same. Some drs do a reduction of sorts using liposuction, but it doesn't reposition the nipple and that there is the key to perky breasts! My surgeon even made my nipples smaller (4 cm) and repositioned without severing them entirely. This is a huge plus because they now "work" better than they ever did before plus they're sensitive - no loss of feeling at all. could not breast feed tho, which was okay. Scarring - yes. But it was a trade off - huge pendulous breasts or big perky breasts with small nipples and scars? I took the scars. So far, no complaints from thems who've seen em.

Don't worry about pain. Not ridiculously painful, but you do have to be careful for several weeks. Plus you get painkillers. Very tolerable pain.

Kristin, did you see Dr. Tavoussi? I know he's on the radio, but he does excellent work (he did Diana's implants) and is reasonably priced and he's right near you.

And $8-10,000 sounds reasonable for what you want done, including the anesthesiologist and the whole enchilada. The surgeon's fee should only be around $5,000, maybe $6,000. Anything else is gouging. Syren12338483.6601157407

Kristin.  This is similar to the road I'm wanting to go down.  My friend that had just a redcution (twice) first had the keyhole scar and then the anchor.  Clearly as a result of doing it twice she has some issues.  But she insists I'll be happier when I do it.

And you're right.  functional easy to find bras would be awesome.

You guys have me all riled up about it again.  I'm sucking it up and figureing out when I can get away from work.  I've been talking about this for 7 years.  It's time!

That settles it--I must do this.

Kalika, you look so gorgeous (not that you weren't equally hot in the befores, but the afters are Maxim-hot). I know you said you were an A cup before, so now you're a...D, DD, something like that? (I have no sense of cup size.) How tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? The scars look hardly noticeable in those pics.

I'm 5'7", 123 pounds, and a 34B or 36B (sort of depends on the bra). I think a D would be heaven....

Syrene123: Gosh that stinks about not being able to breast feed. I actually don't care too much about it now but I don't know how I feel if I was having a child. Is it almost a sure gaurantee that I won't be able to breast feed? This Dr. Tavoussi, have you seen someone he's done a anchor scar on or did Diana just get augmentation? How long do you think I'll be out of work doing extensions? One week? Two weeks? A month?

Mochachip: Where are you located? Have you talked to any doctors yet? If you're in CA I can share my findings with you as I visit the different doctors.

Naw I'm in new england.

My friend with the anchor's was told she's likely to be able to breastfeed.

She's getting married this summer and really wants babies soon so we'll see.

The time out is the hardest part to plan...   I hear I'm looking at ~$7000-8000.  But we'll see.

How far ahead did most of you have to set up your appts for surgery?

I set up I think 5 appointments about 5 weeks ago and I've only been to one so far and the other ones are in June and July and that's the quickest I could get in. I'd make your appointments asap

Christen, I would never know they weren't real. He did a great job.

Mocha, his name is Dr.Daniel Townsend and I will get his number for you. He has a website too. He actually did my collagen injections for nothing, because I was his first. He has a few different places he works out of. He's a cool guy.

For my liposuction, I had it done in Costa Rica for real cheap. It's a great place to go for plastic surgery. American trained Doctors and nice place to rest. You can save more money by flying down there round trip, paying for the surgery and pay for all your meals. I'm pretty sure I only paid about $1500 for the lipo. My friend paid six thousand and had to go back to have more fat taken out and got charged for that too. I want to get my eyes done again and I'mnot sure what else I want yet. Me and my husband just split, so I'm ready for a drastic change. I'm a 36D and 5'10 at 138 lbs. I love plastic surgery!

whoa hold on.  keyhole is more invasive than anchor?  I thought anchor was keyhole plus the fold underneath.  In fact I'm pretty darn sure that's true.  So how come keyhole which would be less cutting is more invasive?

yeah I want to schedule my theoretical surgery for late fall.  I should get off my ass I suppose.  I really want laser work around my eyes.  or collagen or something.

Mochachip: I agree with you and I would also think the anchor method is far more invasive than the key hole method.

ps- after the surgery i was only a large DD pretty much an E but the 2 kids after made them go even one size bigger..i also had my areolas resized, they were to big and they actually removed my nipples, doc said, and put it on the table next to me...all that, and still able to breastfeed. i had a AWESOME doctor...was 8,000 and worth every penny, i could have gone cheaper, but the others did not feel right, and with such a  MAJOR thing i was not pinching pennies!

Maybe that's cuz I don't know what anchor is! Keyhole is what I had and it's as invasive as they come. I had 5 lbs of fat and skin removed (2.5 from each breast).

So what is the anchor scar then? They do a keyhole and then what? They add an implant?! Now, that would be painful. Just the reduction itself is totally bearable..but reduction and implant at the same time...sounds painful.Syren12338483.9964236111

Okay then. I had the anchor, although my surgeon called it a keyhole. He moved my nipple up 3" higher (yahoo!!)which is why I could not breast feed. But it complete reshaped my breasts and that's what I wanted.

Kalika, wow, your pix are hot!  I would never guess you to be 5'3"!  you look much taller...??

I paid around 5k for mine.  Some dr's charge more for under the muscle too, keep in mind.  Mine are unders, but for over the muscle it was 1,000 cheaper.

I know of a person who had a reduction & w/in 2 years they grew back!  That would be totally devistating to pay all that money, and they end up growing back!

Gina, 3800 it pretty cheap.  Is that for over the muscle?

Jenny, you could travel to Ohio and save money.  The average cost here is about 5k.  With all the money you're saving w/synth hair, you'll be able to save up for boobies in no time!
