restylane lasts longer than collagen but you'll have to prepare to be swollen for about a week but depending on how your doctor injects it, cuz it always tend to be loppsided which is one side bigger or smaller the other. to me i think lip implants are the best and look totally natural and are even looking both sides. on the other hand, they are permanent so you don't have to keep spending the money plus go through pain every 6 months

Hi Jen sorry about the delay in my replay i didnt notice anyone had replyed. Ive since had restylane and yeah my lips are slightly lopsided. Its also very sore! I thought that the numbing cream was suppose to knumb the pain!
With mine the swelling started straight away but i didnt know that and when i looked in the mirror i told the nurse that would be enough (about 3/4 tube) but after a few days once the swelling went down it didnt really look any different. I think next time i do it i will get 1 - 1 1/2 tubes. Id really like for a method where you could look in the mirror and say that was enough and it stayed like that.

well Shel...ive had the restyline injections early last year but each time i came in to have the lopsided side fixed by injecting more to equal out, it never really gave me a 100% satisfation, but it was ok...i think i had like 2-3 siringes injected. Anyways i went to another doctor like 6 or 7 months later after the restyline was coming down, he told me about lip implants. At first i was afraid that it might not look natural but after seeing all his before and after pixes, i decided to get it done and im very happy with them.but they do hurt for the like 2 weeks or so...(same feeling when you're swollen with restyline and try to laugh or smile) yet they look perfectly natural after the awelling and no one could tell theyre fake. people just think i have nice pouty lips...and no lopside this time.

Jennifer - Im not so chuffed with my lips now as the swelling has all went down and i dont really look any different from when i first had them done. I dont know about implants though as i would be scared they dont go as planed then im stuck with them
Kalika- The before and afters on that webosite are similar to the before and afters on me. Does it actually work though, have you tried it? and if so how long does it last?

Yes it works, I own one. It takes a few weeks to "break in" your lips, you need to condition them and get them used to it, but after that, lets say I can give angelina jolie a run for her money for several hours. if I wanna 'refresh' I just go into the bathroom and do another pump. I was looking into injectables and perm. lip implants but Im unhappy with whats out in the market so far, and untill then, Im using this baby.

I think there's a higher risk of infection with Goretex, and the possibility
of the strands protruding through the skin if not placed deeply enough.
www.lipaugmentation.com has a good journal of the site owner's
experience with Goretex. 'Course, this doesn't happen with everyone (see
Genie's experience).
I had Alloderm implants 20 months ago (along with gobs of other
procedures) and it's still giving me a nice pout, better than I had before.
Had 3cc of collagen 8 months ago, disappeared within 3 months. But the
collagen had a built-in painkiller in it, so it hurts a lot less than restylane
(which has a burning sensation).

i have had and do get resty..i have had it for 2 years and go back every 4/5 months for a 1/2 syringe touch up..makes it last longer than if you let it all go away then put it back in..the only sucky part about resty is the numbing shots..after that it is all good (to me) I do bruse for a few days where the needle goes in..

I got my own fat injected in my lips, I love them. I had restaline also 2 years
ago, I like the look of restaline, it just doesn't last long enough. My doctor
said with fat, it depends on the person it is stays, and it is the most natural
thing you can put in your lips. My first injection lasted 7 months, my lips
were still full, I just wanted more fullness. I got more of my fat put in 3
weeks ago. The swelling only lasts a few hours, I had a little bruising, the
needle is bigger when they inject fat. He took the fat from me when I was in
surgery last year for a nose job.

Besides restalyne, which I get every year.... as mentioned earlier I had gortex... (string) drawn through the inside of my lips.... worked great, wish I had gotten more.... Anyway, I'm seeing more and more of the 'pie surgery' out in Calif...... if done correctly, it is definitely worth it for pemanency.... However, if done badly.... then it looks like Melanie Griffith!!! yulk..... the INSIDE of her upper lip is exposed constantly..... I'd like to know her surgeon........ awful job....

hehe, I thought I recognized your name from hair ext board. What type of ext do you wear? Or have you had them yet? I've worn fusion, corn row sew ins, heat seals, but now am very happy w/ clip in wefts.
Yah, Sculptra can get expensive for sure. I am lucky that I found an injector who believes that less product can create as much result (poof) as more product, if that makes sense. I have read posts from a couple of girls in Australia who say that a lot of docs there inject less at a time as well--that the've learned that 'less is more' b/c they've used it years longer than USA. So I have $1,000 dollars (over 4 sessions) of it in my cheekbone area which is at least 1/2 of what other docs recommended for me. ok, don't mean to ramble here! I love the stuff-- www.sculptra.com It lasts 1-2 years. They say 2 so I round that down to 1.

I had fusion extensions (well very stiff plastic bonds) which i HATED, they were so horrible and the hair was just disgusting (very very poor quality). Had them taken out the next day, i think it was partly because the salon was very inexperienced that they were so bad. Im thinking ill get microlinks with the next lot :) fingers crossed they turn out better! How did your fusion extensions work out?
The sculptra looks interesting, i hadnt heard of it before you mentioned it. Will have to look into it some more. I could do with some decent cheekbones! If plastic surgery was guaranteed to be fail-proof and perfect everytime i could quite easily go nuts lol but yeah, theres way too much room for error its just not worth it for some procedures.

omg, hehehehe!! The lip device arrived yesterday! I had it sent to work (own a salon/spa/clothing boutique so it wasn't toooo toooo wierd to my coworkers since we work in the beauty biz) and we all had a good laugh about it. Omg, we were rolling on the floor laughing, it just was so funny.
Funniness aside, the thing works! I did it at work (w/ a captive audience, hahha) w/ no result at all. I didn't expect anything for 2 weeks so I wasn't worried. THEN, ***drum roll*** I did it at home last night--longer pulls that I am supposed to do during the conditioning phase--and sure enough, my lips plumped up. Lasted for an hour and a half and then I was going to bed so who knows how long it really lasted.
This morning I did the conditioning pulls w/ barley any result. I don't want to over do the longer pulls yet but it sure did work last night. I will keep you posted and when hubby gets home from his trip (he has the camera) I'll take pics.
I have a slightly narrow mouth and I was going to have my injector sort of widen my mouth (omg, I sound so vain. oh well! ) w/ the resty injections at the outer parts on my upper lip and that isn't possible w/ this thing. I am going to put off the resty though for awhile and give this thing a shot.
The cool thing is the 30 day money back garantee.
I liked the fusion ext but only had fusion once. I had damage from other methods b/c my hair texture is just so baby fine. So I stick w/ clip ons now. It is fun--an inverted bob one day, 20 inch hair the next!
I am sorry you had bad hair for your ext!!!! That is no fun. Did you lose $$$ b/c of that? I mean, was there no refund?

Wow it actually worked! lol im always sceptical about this sorta stuff, bought some Stung off ebay and it does work but it stings too much to reapply every few hours :/ Pics would be awesome if you find the time =)
I didnt know it came with a money back guarantee? thats always a good thing, problem with that is i dont live in the states so by the time it would get to me 2 weeks would already be up! i didnt even check if they would post worldwide, im sure they will though.
I think theres vanity in everyone Im on a quest to look as "perfect" as i can lol theres no such thing as perfection but im gonna try to get as close as possible. Had my nose done a couple of months ago, and while i wouldnt go overboard with plastic surgery lips would be something else i would consider! I didnt actually know you could widen lips with restalyne-good to know though in case the luscious lips dont work out. I wonder if with time it will actually help you grow more lip tissue lol you know like the brava breast enlargement system works?? now that would be great!
Changing hair length is fun, though ive had quite long hair for the last 5 years (all one length-very boring and its always tied up! lol).
Yeah i was looking at clip ins as well cos i intend to colour my hair and regrowth will be hard to re-dye if i have extensions in, but im going to have to work around it lol I did lose out when i had mine done, i could have complained and gotten a full or partial refund (i went to a salon that does great lengths for a 2nd opinion and they told me to go back and complain) but im not the complaining sort, i dont really like making a fuss lol so i acted like i liked them and went back the next day and had them taken out, told them it was because i was going blonde (which i am) and the extensions would have died if they had been bleached. I have a few hairdresser friends so i'll make sure they know to tell their clients if they want extensions to go to the place that does greatlengths and not anywhere else (we only have two extension salons in my town).
You live and learn though =) so im asking lots of questions about this next set im going to have put in!!

Hi Chik!
Today I am wondering if I will keep the pump. I am still a little concerned that is will cause damage to tissues from the suctioning every day, plus the poofing and de-poofing every day. But I wonder if resty would cause that, too.
Today when I pumped my lips, I thought it looked a little strange between my nose and upper lip--hard to explain. Almost like the area about one inch out from my lips was sunken in. Or the plump started too far out--I bet that is it. So then I looked on www.yestheyrefake.net on the lips page they had it listed and mentioned the same concerns: the big question of tissue damage and then the wierd look it can cause on a narrow face. I have a narrowish face so maybe that is why I thought it looked wierd today. Oh, cr*p, I think I am going to return it and get resty.
Also, I saw that IGIA has one for $18.00 or so. Hmmmm...I'll take pics before I box it up. It does work, though! And I bet it is great for some people!
Yep, you can widen some lips w/ resty. An example would be comparing Meg Ryan's lips in, say, 1988 or so (when Harry Met Sally) to Meg Ryans lips in 2000 or so (Kate and Leopold, or, better yet, that one movie where her husband gets kidnapped in some country, the movie w/ oh, I forgot his name!!! OH! Russel Crowe--ack, I forget the name of the movie) or so. (Not the current Meg Ryan lip implant look) I guess they can be widened (or appear so) if the outer top edges are thinish pre filler. I would get as much filler as Meg Ryan did and also not the current lip implant look she has currently.
Are you happy w/ your nose? I agree, ps should be done w/ extreme caution. I don't want any 'real' ps-- just cheek fillers and lip fillers. I will be first in line for a face lift , though, when the time comes!
OMG, that is terrible about your hair ext! Ugh! I hate that you lost all of that $$$. I just love the clip ins. No grow out to deal w/ b/c they are put in each day--it is quick and easy, too!
ok, I have made up my mind--the pump goes back. I am glad I didn't cancel my resty appt on the 20th yet!

Yeah that would be my concern as well. When im 50 i dont want to have these thin wrinkly lips because of something i used to plump my lips up in my 20's! Id say its good for a quick fix, but not something you could use long term.
They say the result of resty is in the hands of the person doing it, which makes sense. I am going to request lots of before and after pics before going ahead with it if i decide to do so (atm looks like a good/only option lol). I liked Meg Ryans lips before the implants, now they just look fake...there is definitely a thin line between natural and fake in the lip enhancement sector!
95% happy with my nose (id say im harder to please than your average joe lol) its only been 2 1/2 months since i had it done, so will have to wait at least 6 for it to settle properly. It is definitely better than my original nose though! I hated it since i was 11. Besides lips or cheeks, theres nothing else i would want done. Bigger boobs would be nice, but i wouldnt get implants they just wouldnt feel right. Like you said, when the time comes for face lifts, bring it on i say! i dont see anything wrong with altering yourself in moderation its when you start obsessing and going OTT that everything starts to look yick.
I think i might investigate the resty option more thoroughly, are you going to have a pre-appt? and discuss what you want done? or does that just happen on the day you go to have it done?
|

Hiya, chik!
I am glad you are 95% happy w/ your nose. 95% is perfect since, 'are we ever really 100% satisfied?'
I feel very comfortable w/ my injector--she is who did my cheeks and I know someone who has seen her for lips. Also, she is a national trainer of injectables. I would have booked a consult first but we consulted for the lips during one of my cheek appts. I am going to bring pic of lips I like. I like Cloe Sevigny's lips. They are still small but better than mine. I am probably only going to get 1/2 syringe to start b/c I really don't want much. I may add more later, though....

Youre lucky you have someone you can trust! lol im not sure that my cosmetic surgeon does restylane lips (i think he works on the invasive side of things).
I think i will go ahead with the restylane, why the heck not! i will probably take your approach and do it in stages, 1/3 syringe at a time. Then it wont be as obvious and i think it will give a better result in the end. Am thinking i will definitely get the local anaestetic injections!!! im a wuss when it comes to needles.
I also enquired about sculptra, but will get the lips done first :P
Would be awesome to see how your lips turn out in the end :)

well I just had a consult for restylane. I only want to do my top lip, and the PS recommended 2 syringes for my top lip at $500 each. I was expecting to need only one syringe just to make the top lip a little fuller. He says he does not do less than 2 syringes on his patients because they are never happy with the results once the swelling goes down. I'm kind of disappointed now as I can't afford $1000 each session. Any thoughts?

222chik222 and friends,
ok, I am finally gettting back about my Resty. I love it! I had .4 syringe to start and it was enough to even out my lips and add a touch of volume at the outer/upper area. Of course, I decided I wanted more oomph so I went back after 2 weeks for another .4. I would have been better off to get a whole syringe at the beginning b/c I now have a .8 rather than a 1.0 and paid a bit more. My doc warned me that would happen but I didn't listen--hehe.
The swelling is bad for 2 days, I was a bit ducky for about 4 days, and is gone at one week. I am hooked. Hooked, hooked hooked!
Thank gawd I now save $$$ by wearing clip on hair extensions and I now color my own hair b/c that money saved now will be injected into my lips every few months!
What I like best is how the Resty firmed up my lips. I am 40 and suddenly my lips remind me of how they were at 25 only a little better.
I just love what is possible w/ injectables. I now have better cheeks than I did in my 20's, too. And better hair--HA !
I'll keep you posted on how long it lasts.
edit to say that my original lips are small so if someone w/ small lips wants big lips, I feel that one syringe would not be enough. They are just a touch bigger than they were at their prime.

chik,
A .8 is not obvious. I really notice it on myself and it is a big improvement but I bet if I hadn't told the world, it wouldn't be obvious to them. Yes they are bigger but not hugely so. Just enough to make a big differencein over all appearance. I bet they are 30% bigger. Since you are younger than me you may get more result b/c no 'correction' needed yet for you, ya know?
Maggie,
I am looking at collagen b/c I can get it a lot cheaper than Resty so I may give it a try. Did you get 1 cc and how many months did you get out if it?

I made an interesting observation this week re: my new lips.
I was looking thru a box of old family pics a few months ago and I was admiring some teen pics of my lips. Even though, this year, I am actually the happiest I have ever been w/ my looks --- in those old pics, my mouth looked sooooooooo much better and I couldn't put my finger on why exactly. I was thinking maybe it was my teeth. ?????. So, anyway, after my Resty my smile has the same 'look' that I was admiring in the pics. Now I realize I had lost some ( a lot of?) forward projection and it was making my smile flat. Oh, I really like this stuff. Just thought I'd share that if any over 35's are interested.
