Hello. Has anyone seen the infomercials for the True Ceramic Pro straightener? Of course, it looks too good to be true. I rarely trust anything advertised in an infomercial. They do not let you know how much it will actually cost, only that you can try it for free plus S&H. I do like ceramic straighteners much more than others; I have the Jilbere. I am just wondering if anyone has tried this & has any opinions of why it may be better than others. Thanks!

Peace,
endlessnite

I believe they say it is better because the plates are 100% ceramic. The others are supposedly only ceramic coated. Who knows? The Jilbere does work so much better than any other straightening iron that I've tried. I have no idea if the plates are only coated though. (or if it matters..),, R(En`dera )%(4

Ah, I see. Yes, I've heard that claim about a very few other irons that claim to be 100% ceramic. The problem is finding someone who actually has one, as most people are just getting around to using a flatiron that has 'ceramic' plates.

Prolly a dumb question, but have you Googled it? A lot of the time in googling a flat iron I came across reviews by accident... !)% A`eba d`a )-4 `` % bp $, %$- % $(% $(`` #.

yes, i've actually never have seen the infomercials, but it was absolutely amazing. I have very curly hair that gets frizzy easily, and really did straighten my hair (and left it REALLY soft). I would recommend it for ANYONE because if i can get through my hair, it can work on anyone.

i have a straightener from Helen of Troy and it works but sometimes at the end of the day it kinda frizzes up a bit. i saw this infomercial and wanted to know how it works. can you hold the other end of the straightener as you straighten your hair or does that part heat up as well? because i''m afraid of burning my fingers. i bought my straightener at a beauty store for about $40 and i''m not sure if i would spend that much money for another straightener, but if i was to, i''d just like to know how it works exactly.

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!
PLEASE SEE MY NEW POSTING ABOUT THE TRUE CERAMIC PRO ON PAGE 3!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know the official website of the true ceramic pro is:
www.advancedbeautysolutions.com or you can type www.trueceramicpro.com and you will get the same website. The iron is $119.97 not $140.00. If you buy the iron by itself it is $119.97 + $3.99 s/h for a total of $123.96. If you want the iron with the accesories such as the true cool carrying case, styling clips, heat & play spray, thermal styler, ionic comb and brush, dvd, and more the price is $119.97 + $14.99 s/h for a total of $134.96. I would advise anyone who is interested in the true ceramic pro to go to the official site. There you can order online at their website or you can call their official toll free number to order by phone. It is a really nice website showing before and afters, easy step by step guides, more information on the true ceramic pro and what exactly it does for your hair, and you can see all of their abs approved products! I hope that this information can be of some help to anyone who is interested in the true ceramic pro.

I ordered the True Ceramic Pro about three weeks ago and just received it today. What a GODSEND! I admit that it is a bit pricey, but my mother treated me to it for my 19th birthday. I think the whole total came up to something like $119.00. But I feel it's totally worth it, considering you get the hair clips, paddle brush, two bottles of styling products, fine tooth comb, and carrying case for all of it. Plus, you also get a 25 dollar certificate to their advanced beauty solutions products. I'm planning on buying a few of those as soon as I can.

The straightener is great. I just cut my hair super short yesterday unfortunately, but it's still long enough to straighten it. Let me tell you, that straightener did wonders. I have super thick straight hair that frizzes and puffs up when I blow dry it...but this straightener made it poker straight...not even my hot tools straightener could do that (and it totally fried my hair). All in all, I'd say that it was worth every penny. I can't wait until my hair grows out more so I can really put it to work.

I wouldn't say it's overkill. Any ceramic straightener will definitely cost over 100 dollars if it's TRUE ceramic. Most of them are just ceramic coated and that's never good. The best thing about ceramic is that it isn't as damaging to the hair. Now if I had to decide between my regular Hot Tools straightener and my True Ceramic Pro, there would be no competition. My True Ceramic Pro is the best thing in the WORLD. The Hot Tools damaged my hair way too much anyway.

I ordered the True Ceramic Pro on the 20th of December and received it on the 30th. They had quick shipping in my case and the product works wonders. My hair normally takes an hour and 45 minues but with the ceramic pro it only took 30 minutes I love it. Definetly happy with this item. Worth the price. The order number is 1-888-80-style

WOW!!! IT WORKS GREAT!!! THIS IS THE BEST IRON I HAVE EVER USED ON MY HAIR IN MY LIFE!!!

Hello,

I ordered the true ceramic pro by phone on
12-28-04 and it came yesterday, 1-4-05!!! I praise God! I was so surprised that it came so fast! Less than 7 business days! Wow!!!

Well, right away I opened the box and I could hardly wait to try it out. My hair was still damp from washing it, so I had to blow dry it. I liked the ionic brush that came with the iron because it seemed to make my hair softer. I am multiracial and I have very long hair (almost waistlength), but it is very curly, wavy, and tends to be very frizzy and looks very poofy in humid weather or when brushed with no water. Even though my hair may not appear coarse, I have very strong wave patterns and it was very hard to staighten my hair, even with a hot comb!.... not anymore!!! After I blow dried my hair, it was big and puffy. I was really praying that the iron would work on my hair also because God used my grandmother to get the true ceramic pro for me as a Christmas and Birthday gift and I didn't want her to waste her money on something that wouldn't work for me... so to make a long story short, I tested the tcp iron on a small section of my hair and I could hardly believe it! It looked great! My mother did one side of my hair and I did the other. My hair did not look dry and my ends did not look brittle! I praise God, it was so staight, soft, and healthy looking! This iron is the best iron that I have ever used on my hair in my life!!! My mom was even surprised! Usually I used to have to go over the same piece of hair over and over again to achieve any type of straightness only to end up with frizz after a few hours, but not with the true ceramic pro! From what I have experienced, this iron is well worth the money!

The real test was when I went outside, I live in Southern California, and currently we have had alot of rain and it has been very cold and damp outside.
I usually never wear my hair down, but yesterday after using the true ceramic pro, I wore it mostly down, I went outside in the damp weather and my hair did not frizz out! Praise the Lord! Both my mom and I were amazed that my hair remained so straight in that kind of weather.

I just wanted to write this to encourage anyone with ethnic hair, to try the true ceramic pro. It's only $14.99 to try it for 30 days if you don't like it at least you get to keep the accesories just for trying it! Also, there is a 6 month warranty for the iron itself!

The ordering number is 888-80-STYLE and the official web address is www.advancedbeautysolutions.com

Additional Note: On the official website it might say $15.99 for s/h, but when I called and spoke to a representative, she charged me $14.99 for s/h, so maybe it would be a good idea to call the toll free number. This is the official number from the official website.

hi girls,

well i have been trying to reply to this thread for the longest time but i was having trouble registering. anyways, i checked this thread daily because i also ordered the tru ceramic pro and i couldn't wait to get it. my shipping took forever. i order it on Nov 27th and got it on Jan 4th. anyways, i have very thick, frizzy, and wavy hair. nothing i tried worked on my hair. i even paid $180 for the HARDCORE straight iron form toni and guy and it didn't work in my hair. all my life i have looked for something to tame my hair. this iron works wonders for my hair. i think it is worth the price, i probably would pay even more. i didn't even have to use any products. i blow dried my hair and it was very frizzy and puffy. then i followed the instructions on the dvd and it worked! now i get so many compliments on my hair and it had raised my self esteem so much. its the best gift i've ever received. my advice to anyone who is debating----TRY IT! TRY IT! TRY IT! you absolutely won't regret it.

The iron has adjustable heat settings and should not burn the hair. If you have very fine hair, you should begin with the lowest temperature setting first as to avoid any damage to the hair. If you notice that the iron is unusually hot even on the lowest setting, most likely you have a defective iron and you should return it to the company and exchange it for a new one. If someone says that the true ceramic pro burned off their hair, you should find out the complete details of how it happened, like what heat setting was the iron set to when the incident happened?, did the person have color treated hair?, etc.. before just deeming it a bad product, because it might have been set at too high of a setting for that person's particular hair type or possibly it was a defective iron.

I just now ordered the True Ceramic Pro and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it WILL work. (By the way, I got sucked into ordering one of those Revo Stylers and... well, all I can say is... don't do it!)

It seems that MOST of the people posting have positive things to say about the TCP; however, since this is not in the "African American" board, I'm not sure what types of hair this is working on. The reason I ask is because I ordered this for my daughter, who IS mixed (and her hair really reflects it -- it's got all different textures in it). She inherited her dad's very wavy hair, which is thick at the roots and looks as though it's been crimped; the minute she brushes it, it's totally frizzy, especially on the ends, because she also inherited from me my VERY VERY baby fine, stick straight hair.

Bottom line is that I'm hoping this will work for her. I figured the cost was worth it, because for the last 8 months or so, we've been going to professionals to get her hair flat ironed, and it costs around $50 or $60 each time, and then of course she can't wash it until we have another appointment again, so either we have to spend a LOT of money going often OR she doesn't get to wash her hair too often (her hair is also a combo of dry and oily, so it can get pretty nasty)!

If anyone has any tips or feedback for me, or has similar hair as my daughter's, let me know. I would really appreciate it! And when I do receive the True Ceramic Pro and try it, I will definitely get back to you guys on how it works! Thanks!

Hello,

I am the same person who posted a very long posting about the true ceramic pro on page 3, saying "this is the best iron I have ever used on my hair in my life!". I just wanted to make it very clear to everyone who read my posting that I am mixed. I have fine, curly, very wavy hair, and because I am multiracial, I have different textures of hair on my head. Both of my parents are mixed and I came out with hair that is a combination of both of them.
My dad is Jamaican,French,Irish, and Souix Native American and my mom is Russian Jew, Black, white, and Choctaw Native American. But I think that many or most people when they see me, can see that I am part black, of which I feel very blessed to be!

I said all of that because it is so hard for me to describe the kind of hair that I have in writing, but I am a mixed girl and mostly all of the friends I have had growing up, are biracial (black & white) and each one of my friends, has a different hair type. One has more coarse, thick hair, the other has soft spirals, and me, kind of a combination of it all! So, I can't really say for sure if the tcp will work for you, because everyone is unique and different, but it has really worked for my hair and it has made my hair straight, soft, and more shiny and the results have lasted a very long time! Praise God!

I would advise anyone with fine hair or fine hair ends, please do not put the iron at the highest setting right away, try the lower setting first, then gradually increase the temperature as needed.

If you have very dry or damaged ends, using a little ethnic moisturizing conditioner on the ends of your hair may be of great benefit, I found, for me, it helped the cuticle to lie flatter and gave a nice shine at the ends.

Also, if you have not read my posting on page 3, please read it. In the posting I explained more indepth my experience with the tcp iron.

I hope that this posting has helped anyone with mixed hair or a parent of a child with mixed hair.

Additional Note:
Also, I think that people who have very coarse or "kinky" hair should try the true ceramic pro, because I believe that it can help reduce the need for relaxing the hair every 4 to 6 weeks and at the proper heat setting for hair type, can cause less damage to the hair than chemicals.

To anyone who is reading this who has very coarse hair, don't be concerned about not seeing alot of postings from people who have the exact same hair type as you do. My advise is to try the True Ceramic Pro and see how it works for you. You will not know for sure unless you try it. I am saying this because I think that alot of people with very coarse, curly hair are hesitant to try the tcp iron because they think that the tcp won't work for them because their hair is too coarse or curly, but I don't believe that is true. Everyone is truly individual and unique and even though you may not see a reflection of yourself represented in the infomercial, that doesn't mean it won't work for you! Please try the True Ceramic Pro and let us know how it worked for you!

Jesus loves you!

Hi Nylane777 and THANK YOU for responding to my post!

First, how weird is this -- I had not seen the commercial for the TCP in a very long time, but I happened to have the TV on very early this morning, and there it was! I figure it must be fate that I ordered this thing yesterday

Anyway, your posts were very helpful, and I'm really hopeful about this product working. I had read your post on page 3 before (which, in addition to posts by others, really encouraged me), but I went back and read it again and then realized that you are from So. Calif. also. I'm in Los Angeles, so the weather factor at least is the same for you and my daughter! And I can just imagine how many different textures your hair must be with ALL those wonderful ethnicities/nationalities you have -- I thought my daughter had a lot (many the same as you), but you REALLY are lucky to have so many wonderful genes and cultures in your background.

I tried to send a letter to Customer Service at the TCP company to get an idea when I might be receiving the product, but so far no answer... I hope that doesn't mean it will take TOO long. Will keep you and the others on this message board posted as to the progress of the transaction and, of course, the USE of it (hopefully that will be soon!)

Thanks again to you and all who have put in their feedback -- it's most appreciated!

Helaine

P.S. Sara wanted to be sure that I made an announcement that the picture is very OLD (truly it is -- our sweet cat isn't even alive anymore)

Hello,

I just wanted to say that I ordered the true ceramic pro by phone on 12-28-04 and it came on 1-4-05! I was very surprised that it came so fast, because before ordering it, I had read different postings about it taking 2 or 3 weeks to arrive. I am in Southern California and in my case it arrived in less than 7 business days! Wow!!!

I just wanted to post this to encourage anyone who has ordered the True Ceramic Pro recently. Hold on! I believe your special iron is on the way!

Contact 888-80-STYLE for order status.

Note: I did call to speak to a representative to find out when the iron was coming. I believe that I was told 3 to 4 weeks, but to my surprise, and I was extremely surprised, it came in less than 7 business days. Truly an answer to prayer!

Nylane and Liltee.... I'd be VERY surprised if I receive the TCP as quickly as you did, but I sure would be happy. The sooner we can try it on my daughter's hair, the better! At least they only charged the shipping cost on my credit card. I guess when they send it out they start billing the installments.

And thanks for letting me know that I can call the toll-free number for a status report. They sure don't answer their email, so I don't advise anyone to use that as a resource for getting answers!

Has anyone had any experience using the iron from Sally Beauty Supply that''s like the True Ceramic Pro?

The iron is part of their "Ion" line of dryers and irons, and it has all the features of the TCP, including the negative ion stuff that seals the moisture into your hair. At the store, the sign for the iron says, "As Seen on TV," so I think they''re trying to compete.

Anyway, the iron costs $99.99, and through the end of January, they''re giving away a $27.00 Ionic blowdryer if you buy the iron. Using the green card at Sally''s makes the deal even better, spend $2. to get the discount card, and the iron and free blowdryer only cost $89.99!

I was a little wierded out by TCP not explaining the costs of everything on their infomercial, and then several people here have had shipping problems (delays and things not packed well, might be used, etc.). So.... I''m trying to figure out if going with the Sally option might be cheaper and easier for the same function.

If you know anything about this one, I''d appreciate hearing your opinions.

Thanks!

Krystle, I am SO PSYCHED! I ordered the thing on January 13, and the UPS man JUST delivered it 5 minutes ago -- so I don't think you'll have to wait 3-5 weeks!

Now all I have to do is wait for the "guinea pig" to come home from school and we can try it out!

Okay, everyone, definitely look for some posts from me in the next couple of days with results (cross your fingers).

I received The true ceramic pro on christmas eve, and it only took two weeks to ship. The TCP works wonders...because i have very thick hair it takes me about an hour to have it straightened, but i noticed the difference and it's awsome. :-). However, the only thing is that i noticed that my hair began to feel very dry and the hair sprays that the TCP offers dont work well on my hair. The shine only lasted for 20 minutes and it looked unhealthy. I wouldn't recommend any one to use the hair sprays. but for better results i use (Citre shine) for constant heat, and it showed a great difference my hair, it felt alot softer and healthier. All my friends noticed how straight and healthy my hair looks and order the TCP as well. This Iron is Great!!! it saves alot of time and most of all money.

I previously asked about the alternative to True Ceramic Pro:

Has anyone had any experience using the iron from Sally Beauty Supply that''s like the True Ceramic Pro?

The iron is part of their "Ion" line of dryers and irons, and it has all the features of the TCP, including the negative ion stuff that seals the moisture into your hair. At the store, the sign for the iron says, "As Seen on TV," so I think they''re trying to compete.

So.... I''m trying to figure out if going with the Sally option might be cheaper and easier for the same function.

If you know anything about this one, I''d appreciate hearing your opinions.

---

Following up, I bought the machine because I checked on the return policy at Sally, which is 90 days for any reason with receipt. So I gave it a shot, and for anyone else who wants to save money, I'll let you know that it did everything I saw on the commercial for True Ceramic Pro, except tightly curl hair, which I don't really need anyway. The straightening was great but what was better was the shine, and the softness I felt on my hair.

I wondered if the one response I had saying don't try it was a real answer, or someone who doesn't want us to know that there alternative products out there that are cheaper and work as well. There were no reasons given, and it was so sharp and not friendly.

So, these are just my thoughts, I'll throw my experience into the mix, and if it helps someone, so much the better. I don't have an interest in either iron, but I am always on the hunt for things that help you look cuter :)

Good luck to everyone.

Hello. I''ve been reading the posts about True Ceramic Pro and I''m pretty interested in it now. But, this is my concern. I have naturally curly thick hair, but I''m NOT looking for permanent straightening. I had my hair chemically straightened about 4 years ago and it taught me to love my curly hair. But, I would still like to have the straight look every now and then just to mix things up. I''ve read in some of the posts that some flat irons were actually causing the hair to stay straight for months at a time. That I don''t want! I just need something to straighten and smooth my hair for the day and then go back to curly when I wash it. Can anybody tell me which experience they''ve had with TCP? Thanks so much!

Hi Missrachel,

I ordered the True Ceramic Pro and received the product within a week of my order. I tried it on my daughter's hair which is very thick and coarse. She did not care for the results as her hair felt stiff after using the iron. I tried it on my niece whose hair texture is extremely curly, but not as thick as my daughter's and it straightend her hair just fine. Both girls (19 and 22) have chemically straightened hair. I am 48 and have let the chemical straightener grow completely out of my hair. Before I ordered the True Ceramic Pro, I used a Golden Hot flat iron, which did straighten my hair, but did not have adjustable heat settings. When I used the Golden Hot iron, my hair would frizz when exposed to the slightest bit of humididty. (I live in Houston, so there are very few days when the humididty is low) I tried the True Ceramic Pro on my hair and am thrilled with the results. I was able to straighten and curl in one step and the curls are holding!!! I was skeptical about the price at first, but my oldest daughter who is in cosmetology school says that comparable flat irons cost as much as this one or more. My hair texture is thich and curly, but not very coarse. With the True Ceramic Pro my hair looks like I've been to the salon for a perm! I am very pleased with this product. Hope this helps.

Are you still able to wear your hair curly like before? That's really my main concern. I don't want to have straight hair every day of the week. I still want to have my normal curly hair sometimes too. Thanks!

Response to Rachel and anyone concerned about the tcp permanently altering the texture of the hair.

Hello,

I am the same person who posted a very long posting on page 3 saying "this is the best iron I have ever used on my hair in my life".

I just want to say that if you are concerned about your hair not going back to being curly after using the tcp iron, please don't be concerned. I am multiracial with very wavy, curly, frizzy hair and when I wash my hair or even just spray my hair with water, it goes back to it's wavy, curly, frizzy state of being.

I cannot speak for everyone, but from my own experience, the iron has not permanately straightened my hair at all. My wavy, fluffy, curly, thick hair has always returned when I have washed my hair or sprayed it with water. From my experience, my hair can stay very straight for days after ironing it with the True Ceramic Pro Iron, but when I wash it, all of the waves and curls are back.

So, please don't be concerned about the True Ceramic Pro permanently straightening your hair, because from what I have experienced, it doesn't, and I am very happy about that! I can wear my hair straight one day and the next day have fluffy, curly, wavy hair again!

I hope that this helps.

Hello,

I just wanted to add some information that might be helpful to anyone who has wanted to get the True Ceramic Pro, but has not been able to due to the cost.

Prior to getting the True Ceramic Pro, I had done much research on the internet for many days in searching for the best ceramic ionic flat iron. I was searching for an iron that I thought was just as good or better than the tcp and that was for less money. I had to choose between the tcp and one other iron.

I ended up on a site, Folica.com, they were selling many ionic flat irons, but the one that was the top best seller and had rave reviews from more than a hundred people, was the Sedu. The Sedu is $105.95 + free shipping.

The Sedu has very sleek Tourmaline/Ceramic plates and has adjustable heat settings. It has the flattest plates that I have ever seen on a flat iron and it had so many pages of reviews that I could not read them all. I believe that it is still the #1 best selling ionic iron on Folica beating the chi, hai, hot tools, babyliss, and maxiglide.

After much time and prayer I finally decided to get the TCP iron, I felt that the True Ceramic Pro was the right one for me to get. I also wanted the accesories, like the styling clips, sprays, ionic brush, and carrying case.

The True Ceramic Pro has worked great on my hair! It is the only ceramic ionic flat iron that I have ever used on my hair and it really straightens my hair well and has given me long lasting results.

I would recommend trying the True Ceramic Pro, but if it does not work for you or if you are looking for an iron that is cheaper, I would honestly recommend the Sedu.

If I had not gotten the TCP iron, I would have most likely gotten the Sedu, because from my in depth research, it seems to be a really great iron too. The Sedu was the only other iron that I was seriously considering.

I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a top of the line ionic iron that is less than the TCP, to consider the Sedu.

To find out more about the Sedu or to read reviews about it, please go to:

http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Flat__360_1.html - http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Flat__360_1.html

Note:
I am giving this information, because there have been some postings recently of concern about the cost of the True Ceramic Pro and some people have expressed interest in purchasing an iron for a cheaper price, but of the same or better quality as the tcp.

Hey all. Price actually is an issue with me as well. I did like the idea of the payment plan with TCP. I think that's a great marketing tool and I'm glad many companies are going to that. I too saw the Sedu and Babyliss irons at Folica, but right now, even paying $100 or more up front for anything would be out of the question. I ended up ordering Maxiglide today. It's $80 and is broken down into payments and I've heard a lot of great things about it (not as much on here, but on other websites). Plus, there is a clear return policy listed on the website and that's pretty important to me. It should arrive tomorrow, so I'll let everybody know if I like it or not. Take care!

Response to MissJill:

I believe that the average temperature to straighten very thick hair is between 300 and 400 degrees. But not only is thickness important but also the texture and condition of the hair as well. For example, I have thick hair, but it is fine in texture, so I do not usually set the TCP iron at 400 degrees. Someone with thick and coarse textured hair most likely should set the iron above 300 degrees. But, there are some factors that someone should consider before using any hair iron, like is the hair fine, medium, or coarse in texture? Is the hair relaxed or color treated? How is the condition of the ends of the hair? If the ends of the hair are damaged, I think that the heat should be adjusted to a lower temperature just for the ends of the hair. Also, a conditioning oil (like Proclaim Natural 7) applied before or after straightening can be of much benefit and add a healthy sheen to the hair.

Note: I have set the iron at 400 degrees before and for me the results were amazing. At that temperature my hair was straightened very fast and my hair was super slick! So if you are in a hurry and your hair is super thick, 400 degrees may be a good idea! Just be wise and adjust the iron according to your own unique hair type.

The True Ceramic Pro is really a wonderful ionic ceramic flat iron. I highly recommend it for anyone with very curly, wavy, fluffy hair like mine. It has really saved me alot of time doing my hair and I don't even have to use it everyday! The results last a very long time and the ionic brush that came with it, is wonderful!

There are other flat irons on the market for less money, but the one that I highly recommend is the one that I have tried and has worked for my hair- The True Ceramic Pro!

Hi all,
Just a little note about the TCP. I just bought it and I reallyam glad I did. I have really thick and long curly hair and I used it and my hair is so soft and stright. I think it is worth the money i spent on it. !,,

So, I am pretty much convinced to try the True Ceramic Pro, but I was looking at one other possibility. Has anyone heard about or used the Sephora Tourmaline Wet to Dry?? Also, couldn't help but notice that a lot of people with course hair have answered this thread. My hair is thin to normal texture, but goes between frizzy and stringy all the time. It doesn't hold curl well at all. Think either one of those will work good for me?

Hey frizzled. I've never used it, but I was reading on another forum and a hair expert said that the Tourmaline irons were excellent. I would think that the thinner the hair is, the easier it would be to straighten it with a flat iron. But, I have been wrong before.

By the way everybody, I got my Maxiglide the other day and it's awesome! My hair was NEVER this soft and shiny and manageable when my stylist would straighten my hair with a round brush. The texture is probably 3 times softer. I'm sure I would have gotten the same result with TCP, but I'm glad I found this and it works. Good luck frizzled!

I bought the ionic iron from Sally Beauty Supply last summer. It works well. It doesn't curl the ends of my hair, but it straightens it very well. Before I was using Conair and it claimed to be ceramic but it wasn't, it also damaged my hair. I bought the one from Sally because they said it was exactly the same as the Chi iron and I didn't want to spend $200.

I was wondering if anyone thinks the True Ceramic Pro is better than the Chi (or the Sally one). I liked the comercial so much I was thinking about ordering it.

I bought the True Ceramic Pro a few months ago and since then I use it every day. I watched the infomercial a lot beforehand, and price is never an issue to me, esp if there are payment installments. I love the product and my hair feels and looks so awesome. I like the sprays that came with it. The thermal styler seems necessary to use to get the smoothness and shape I want, so I ordered two bottles of that a few days ago. Since the iron took so long to arrive, I'm guessing the sprays will, too. The shine spray really works, too, and it's amazing how much prettier hair looks when it's not matte.

One of my favorite things that came with the kit is the big flat brush. I had used a large round blowdrying brush for years and didn't realize that a wide flat brush without perforations would do such a better job of getting my hair dry and straight. My hair tangles easily and is super wavy so I use a detangling spray, blowdry straight with the flat brush, and iron my hair flat. Altogether it only takes me about 20 minutes each morning and the style lasts the entire day. I think for anyone who would rather go with unmanageable hair than pay the cost of the iron kit really needs to try it. I can't imagine anyone not liking it. Even better, it comes with clips to section off pieces of hair while straightening, and a nice holder for everything. Inside, the bag is insulated so you can wrap it up right after you use it and store it in the bag. The morning before a trip I used it and packed it up right away in my suitcase. Also one of my favorite things about the TCP is the long thick cord with the rotating head. If anybody is still skeptical after all this I'd be willing to send you a pic of my hair before and take one of me after I've used the products.

All day long I run my fingers through my hair in disbelief that it could ever feel and look so good. Strangely enough the product arrived at my house a day I had taken off work, and the next day someone joked that I had taken the day off to get my hair done, and I asked "Why, does it look different?" and he said "I think it looks nice." I don't think that was a coincidence.

I'm sort of wanting to buy theTCP but the cost is still a bit of a too much. I'm looking for an alternative, a much cheaper one. Has anyone tried the conair Ceramic straightener where it can be used on wet hair? I think it would be much more convenient since it saves time blowdrying my hair so I might actually buy it.

To Krystle:

I used to try to straighten my hair with a 1" Revlon curling iron for about 8 years. I get a better straightening affect with the TCP and my hair feels softer and appears less damaged than ever. But then again I condition my hair everyday and use a light spray conditioner as well so if I'm aquiring damage I'm not aware of it. :) I think as long as you keep conditioning, your hair won't ever look like straw.

To Miss Jill:

I think it took about 5 weeks to arrive if I recall right. The heat settings can be changed by temp. I started out low and not much happened, so I moved up the temp to around 200 degrees and have been pretty happy with that.

Ok, I bought this product based on all the great reviews on here. It took me about 3 weeks to get it. Not bad. HOWEVER...

There was a really negative review on here a few postings back from a woman talking about her daughter's hair being burned and then someone else mentioned their iron began smoking. Well, mine did the same thing as the above two.

I want to be fair because I know that there are some really happy people, but I want to share my story so others can hear the other side. My iron arrived today (which should tell you how upset I am that I used it less than thirty minutes ago & I'm already on here). I turned it on 200 which is a medium setting. (I've used irons many times so I'm familiar with what my hair needs to be set on). I actually started a lot lower than my normal ceramic irons.

Well, at first it was great. Exactly as everyone described. As I was finishing one side of my head I started smelling something. It smelled like a chemical. I looked at my hair & didn't notice anything. I laid the iron down and turned down the temperature because the smell was getting worse. Really I thought it was maybe the "newness" burning off. Seriously I did. You know how new curling irons & stuff kinda have a weird smell the first time you use them? That's what I thought it was.

I turned the temperature down as low as it would go and waited 5 minutes. The little light never started reblinking to let me know it was ready. Ok, I know this sounds stupid but... I tried it on a small piece of my bang to see if it was cooled down. Guess what...the darn thing immediately burned off my hair! Luckily it was a really small piece that I tried it on.

Ok, here's the important part. When I laid the iron down I noticed it was smoking a little. Now, on the DVD they show steam coming off the head when you straighten with the iron so I hadn't noticed the steam was actually coming from the iron. I looked really close at where the smoke was coming from and I quickly discovered the WHOLE TOP PLATE WAS MELTING OFF!!!!!!! No joke!!! As I stood there and watched, the darn top plate started totally detaching. The melting glue was what I was smelling when I smelled the chemical smell. Now remember, the iron was on the lowest setting during this. I quickly unplugged it and left it alone to cool.

Needless to say I'm returning it tomorrow. The good thing was, the iron started malfunctioning as I was finishing... however, remember I had only done half of my head so I had probably used it about 5 minutes.

Let me say, I thought the same exact thing as most people on here about the girl who claimed it burned off her hair. I thought "she must have had it turned up too high." Nope. That's not the case. My darn iron was just as bad as her's and trust me... the heat (which was on low) should not have caused the darn top plate to literally melt off!

I'm not going to badmouth the product because I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but I got mine less than one hour ago & I'm already writing this. That should tell you something. !$$ Bi

I just received my True Ceramic Pro and I absolutly love it. My husband thought I was crazy to spend $120.00 on this item, but now even he thinks my hair looks great. When I would wash my hair it was always an hour long or more ordeal. I used Frizz ease serum and I would blow dry it using a comb attachment and then I would use my Revo Styler (which I like as well) to straighten my edges and give me some soft curls. Now that I have the True Ceramic Pro I can save so many steps and my hair looks and feels great in 15-20 minutes. It is so worth the money. (!) Aaddapq

For those users who said that their TCP burned their hair off, which website/phone number did you get yours from? I wonder if it is the same company (there are 2 phone numbers that I have seen thta people have ordered from, so are they different sellers of the same item or is one just actually a cheap knockoff of some sort??) who sold the irons or if it's just a fluke that unfortunately happens...any thoughts on this??? THANKS for your imput. I am seriously thinking of buying one of these.
Also, the two phone#'s I've seen for buying one via phone are:
888-80-style and 800-593-6117 (the phone # I got off the infomercial). That's why I am wondering..is it the same seller/company selling both or what? Kind of confusing....
Also, does anyone who bought one at one of the "As Seen On TV" stores, is there any warranty with it buying it that way?

Hi there:

I purchased the TCP from Advance Beauty Solutions and at first I was totally thrilled with the iron. It definately straightened my VERY hard to straighten hair. I have thick curly hair (which is not unlike a horses mane!)

I used the iron at a medium setting and for the first few days it was fantastic (I started out lower and nothing happened so I moved up to a medium setting around 250 or so), HOWEVER, my hair is now very dry, brittle, frizzed and cracked. In fast, when I run my fingers through it, it falls out in pieces. I am DEVISTATED! I have tried intense conditioning hot oil treatments etc but nothing works. My hair is definately fried. I have no option but to chop it off and start over.

I was alarmed to find that most people here had a positive experience - I wonder what I did differently????

Anyone who had their hair damaged by the TCP - any advice on what you did to try to make your hair look somewhat normal again would be appreciated. I'm ready to shave my head. My hair was always very soft and healthy and even though I couldn't straighten it myself, when my hairdresser did it, it looked FANTASTIC and shiny.

THANKS for your help!

HI there: Thanks Krystle for your suggestion about the infusium treatment. I will try that. I went last night and had about 4 inches chopped off most of my hair, so most of the damage is gone, but my hair is so short now!

I only used the TCP on dry hair....

The hairdresser told me that this is a really good ceramic iron and that shouldn't have happened. She suggeted I try even lower heat and use some sort of product on my hair to protect it. I will try the infusium treatment!

THANKS!

I have been reading the posts for a while now and because of the positive posts I ordered the TCP.

It's been about 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. I am hispanic with dark brown hair. I highlighted my hair a few days before I received the iron. I have never dyed my hair before that. My hair is thick but not coarse. My hair straightens rather easily with a blow dryer. The reason why I bought the iron was for the humidity factor mainly.

If anyone is skeptical about that let me tell you no more bad hair days. It rained the next day after I used the iron and my hair was still the same. With time now my hair comes out even better, just make sure you seal in the ends.

I just tried curling the ends yesterday because I wanted a little more body. It curls nicely with practice but they don't stay that long. But I didn't use the thermal styler or hair spary before I used it just after.

I don't have to use it every day, and I wouldn't. I wash my hair once a week and it stays the whole week. My hair goes back to being curly with no problem.

I deep condition every week with a heat cap. I used Sebastian's Colorshines Cellophanes 2 days ago and this stuff is amazing!!! I used the clear. I can see the difference right away. My hair looks so shiny and healthy. For those that never heard of it it is a no peroxide, no ammonia, non permanent rinse that comes in colors or in clear. It states on the bottle that it gives high shine and superb condition and it is true. You can use it every 3 weeks I have been told. It is much better than any other treatment I have used. You need to use with a heat cap or under a dryer.

Hope all this helps.

Hello
After reading the post I ordered the tcp, it took me 2 weeks to get it, I just received my TCP, and in response to earlier post I read about post sounding to bubbly, I definatley do not work for tcp. I loved the results, I have to say though, I have mid lenghth very curly ethnic hair , not to mention a lot of it, It did take me more than just one pass to straighten and it did take me longer than ten minutes, but overall it did a great job from others I have had. I previously owned a chi , and a revlon ceramic straightner and the tcp definatley gave me better results than I have ever had before, my daughter has a lot of hair as well, I plan on using it on her this evening, I will keep you posted. :)

Miss Jill and All,

Thanks for the reply!!! I am up for a trim soon and thanks for reminding me!!

I don''t need to use the iron every day and I am curious why some need to. All I have to fix in the morning is the front section that gets wet when I wash my face. I use the blow dryer for this. Once the iron goes over the hair it doesn''t get frizzy even if I wet it somewhat.

I am so glad I found this product. My hair looks like I had it done in the salon and I feel so confident and beautiful. If it rains I don''t care!! I am in NY and it snows here all the time now. I haven''t had a bad hair day since. Hope all are having a great experience also.

Hi all,

I order the TCP because i too saw the informercial and also from reading the posts here. So far it works good...had it for a week. The only problem is the first time i used it, some of the red stuff on one of the plates came off....i thought this thing was supposed to be 100% ceramic? I see reflective stuff under the parts that came off...like metal and if you look closely at the plates...they just look like iron that has been sprayed with this red stuff, cause the plates look cut and looks like metal. Also, in gift certificate....i go to the website to see what they have to offer and i keep getting the true ceramic pro ad. There's no section where they offer other things to use this certificate on. In the pamphlet they included it says if you have questions, comments or concerns to go to advancedbeautysolutions.com again, it's just the TCP website and there is no place that says to contact us by email or comments. I do like the product but, i don't think i'm going to keep it, i still don't think it's 100% ceramic.

Thanks,

Wind Dancer

I live in Miami and I bought the true ceramic pro 2 months ago. Nothing has ever made my hair look so good. Even in the Miami humidity, which is pretty bad. But yesterday, I noticed that the the red light wasn't flashing to let me know that it was at the desired temperature. I thought maybe the light was just malfunctioning. So I used it anyway. Well, I only got as far as the first strand when I noticed it burned the color off my hair (I dye my hair black). When I noticed this, I combed my hair and it fell right off. Thank God it was only 1 little section of my hair. It looked like it just kept getting hotter and hotter because the red plates turned like a maroon color or a brick red and it smelled like it was burning. As I am righting this, the true ceramic pro is going right back where it came from. I bought a CHI from JC Penny for $120.00 yesterday and it works pretty good. I also ordered a solia from folica.com. I'll let you know if that one is any good.ginalee30538469.5997453704

I received my solia today and it is the same if not better than the true ceramic pro and it was only $85.00.
I ordered the 1" because it is the same size as the tcp. And it got here really fast. I ordered it and it was here in 4 days and I didn't have to pay for shipping. In my opinion, this iron is better than the true ceramic pro. Folica.com is a great website.

I have a question for those who have the TCP.  I ordered one and just got it a few days ago.  I already have chips in the supposed "true ceramic" plates.  I see metal underneath.  This is totally frustrating as it works great for me, but I can't support a product where they lied to me.  That is just wrong.  I am sending it back and am going to try a Solia.

Anyone else have this happening to theirs?  I was thinking maybe the demand was so high they started making some fakes thinking it would pass for real and it isn't working?  Everyone seems to love theirs here and other boards seem to have the same problem I am having.

I was torn between keeping it and sending back because I have never had straight hair in my life and I am loving it.  I even went and cut it shorter because it looks better straight and one length than with the layers I had and I am soo happy.  I just am so mad that they made fun of other ceramic irons saying how it was just metal with ceramic on it and that is just what theirs appears to be.  Even my Revlon ceramic curling iron hasn't ever chipped or peeled.

Anyone have this problem?  I am hoping that the Solia works the same as it looks really similar and I got the 1" since my TCP measured about and inch across.  I will keep ya posted on the Solia and my experience with customer service and the return of the TCP.

I ordered the TCP about 1 month ago and received it yesterday.  After 15 minutes of use I noticed very small red paint flakes all over the vanity.  The paint was gone off of the iron where my hair was passing through it.  It was bare silver metal exposed.  Truely Fake Ceramic Pro.  I can't figure why the company would sell something fake for $140 when it would be more profitable for them to put the ceramic plates in the item and actually not have a high return rate.  Expect long wait time when calling for the Return Authorization Number.  Sounds like if you don't get it mailed back to them promptly, the 30-day trial will pass and you'll get billed on your credit card anyway.

I have naturally curly thick hair to my waist.  Never had straight smooth hair before, and have never been able to run my fingers through my hair.  After using this iron, it did do as shown on t.v.  The frizz going in to the iron came out smooth and soft.  Quite an experience.  So, I don't feel I'm out anything if they don't charge my credit card for the remaining balance.  For $14.95 shipping, I am allowed to keep all the extra items - which seem to be of good quality.

It's just a shame they advertise that it is a TRUE CERAMIC, and not to be fooled by the imitations that have paint over metal.  I'm disappointed in myself for falling for an infomercial.

I ended up ordering a 1.5" Sedu from folica.com.  It came today and has real ceramic plates.  It does not have as high of temp setting that the TCP does, but it doesn't seem to need it.  Very nice product for basically the same cost.  After seeing the Sedu, the TCP is a total fraud.  Totally metal under the red paint.

I have had the TCP for about three weeks, but after the first or second use, the red paint started to come off of mine also.  I immediately called the company and they are sending a replacement (not received yet).  At first the results were okay but now my ends look a bit frizzy (keeping first until I receive replacement). My stylist used a Rusk ceramic flat iron on my hair and the results were silky and shiny.  They are about the same in cost and are only sold in salons.  I think that when I get this replacement, they are both getting sent back and I am going to buy the Rusk iron.

TCP does work great in straightening and smoothing out your hair.  I have extremely thick long hair and this product does work wonders.  Yes, it is true about the red paint coming off.  However, I do not recommend this product due to my esperience.  One day I turned on the TCP, but it was not turning on and the red blinking light was not there.  I was very upset because it was not working.  I then turned it off, walked away for a while, came back, and turned it on and it worked.  This happened two more times, but the third time it was oof for good.  I was angry because it finally broke down on me on the day I really wanted it to work.  Therefore, I went to a Sally Beauty store and got Jilbere de Paris Ceramic Straightener for only $37 on sale.  This straightener works just as good as TCP if not better.   Remeber I havee extremely long thick hair.  Then I called customer service and I could not get my money back, I could only get a new one in place of the broken TCP.  This stinks, because I will have a $119 TCP that I do not need, because the Jilbere works better.  So overall, DO NOT BUY TCP WHEN YOU CAN GET THE SAME RESULTS FOR A LOT LESS.

Funny how this post contains all newbies and unregistered guests....I don't think I'll listen to a word anyone has said....

Sounds like advertisement of some kind.

Hey you once was a newbie, I've just registered.  I  also remembered this site when I was making  a decision on whether to buy TCP.  And  I bought the product and  had a bad expericence with it and just wanted to share it with everyone .  Also wanted to tell everyone I  bought a  great iron for an outstanding price.  Everyone is looking for a great straight iron for the best price  and I found one; wish I it found before TCP.  Trying to save money for everyone.  What would you pick for the same results, an iron for $37 or one over $119.

P.S. If I sound like an advertisment, THANKS, because I'm going into advertising.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being a newbie....Its just odd how they all seem to be on this one post....almost as if someone was registering....just to talk up about the product.

And there are alot of unregistered guests as well ....which makes me skeptical.

I know how you can be skeptical.  I thought the same thing when I was reading these posts (when deciding on buying an iron).  How does this site rank you?  Is it on how many posts you put in? You have about 308 while I have only 5.  (% Aicd tard $ $ ` & `` )2 $(!$ $% ),% 4`` (

I used to think that the True Ceramic Pro was the BEST straightener.  I read posts on here with horror stories about the plates melting and hair burning off, etc, etc, etc.  I felt soooooo bad for those people and thanked my lucky stars that I did not get a "defective" one.

Well ... I figured out why my TCP seemed to be "perfect" ... I had never put the heat setting above 270 degrees.  I usually straighten my hair with no more than 200 degrees but the other day my mom asked me to straighten her hair.  Since her hair is very course I used the highest heat setting it could go on and SURPRISE -- it started to melt.  The plates turned beat red ... the glue started to seep out from the sides of the plates and it actually burned a piece of my moms hair (that I had to cut off -- thank god it was the end of a short layer so it wasn't noticable when i cut it).

So, mystery solved ... the TCP works great on the low settings ... but, turn it up and it starts to melt.  My TCP no longer works on anything other than 200 degrees ... if i turn it up to 270 it starts to get really hot and I have to turn it off.  What a waste of money ... for that price ... 130.00 when everything is said and done ... it should have NO defects.

Save your money and invest in one of the other hot irons people rave about on here.

I hope this helps someone.

i did end up getting the Solia and love it.  been using it ever since with no problems.  it looks almost exactly like the TCP and except the plates are blue and don't peel.  LOL.  i really love it and would recommend it to anyone who liked the TCP, but didn't like the fraud and peeling plates.

well, with mine it was obvious that it wasn't as the red paint chipped off immediately.  i think some may actually be ceramic, but not sure.  i sent mine back in the 30 day period to return.  good luck to you.

To be honest, that was my first thought as well.  I read through two page 4 and then skipped to page 8 of this thread.  I saw similar wording in many different posts.  How many people have described this product as a "godsend".

I'm sure some of the comments are legit, but I'd rather get opinions from someone who has given advice many times on this site.  Yes, I realize I am a newbie -- but I don't dish out advice because I don't have any.
