is turning red!!!OK - I'm a thirty year old woman with light brown hair, some natural blonde highlights (streaks) - but when I'm in the sun, it looks red - note, my son noticed this earlier today!!!!Red is a nice color on Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, etc., but not for me!!!!My hair is bra strap length in the back, shorter on the sides. I'd like to keep my hair healthy, but I cannot bear to be a redhead!!!I've never colored before and I basically trim my own hair - thus, I've no stylist. What advice if any, could anyone offer?? Help!Grateful to you all!Kath

if its natural i would just leave it alone.. like i always say, natural is better.. :) besides no matter what you do, you will probably still have a red tone to it(! aaladd

Help!> Grateful to you all!> KathKath,Two things I can think of, offhand. Temporary rinse, and semipermanent color. A rinse will wash out from shampoo to shampoo, and semiperm colors will last from a few weeks to 8, depending on the brand. They gradually fade with each shampoo.Generally they are mild on the hair and leave it shinier in the end than before. What you need to do is choose a colr that is one shade lighter than your natural color and is ash tone. The reason for this is that semiperm colors will not lighten hair, only depsit color, and since you do not want a deeper color, you need to choose a color that will give you just enough of the ash tone without darkening your hair. Ash tones are usually darker in appearence so this is the reason to pick a color lighter than your actual color. Make sure that it is a non-peroxide color as this will be the least damaging. Oh, and a third thing just came to my mind: A color enhancing shampoo should do the trick, and this is the easiest and safest of all. Several salons carry lines of color enhancing shampoos and conditioners. Artec is one brand that makes these products. If you should find a similar product in a retail store, look for something that has some green pigment in it, as green is what will neutralize the red.
