First of all I want to tell Karen & Jeff how much I love the Worst Hair Days & How I Fixed Them essays. I laughed, I felt sad and I shared in the pain.I would like to request that Karen & Jeff open a new section of Hair Boutique where new worst hair stories can be added. Or maybe a Worst Hair Days Board. At any rate, this whole contest got me thinking about my worst hair days and I have had a few, but I wanted to share my worst one ever.I was in college and had chin length hair that I was trying to grow out. I had done all kinds of chemicals to my hair and it was yucky dry. A friend told me that she had tried vasoline and that it had worked. She told me to leave it in overnight.Silly me. I globbed vasoline jelly all over my hair and wrapped it in plastic wrap and left it on all night. It felt horrible. I had a hard time leaving it on, but I endured. The next day I could NOT get the vasoline out of my hair. I tried everything. My hair was like this giant grease ball. I finally got a big comb and combed a lot of the glop out and then I used paper towels to wipe as much off as possible. The water and shampoo had totally gummed up my hair.It took me literally 1 week to get the stuff out. Then my hair still looked really bad. So I went and got it cut really short. The worst part was that the friend who told me to put the vasoline in admitted later that it was just a joke.I have never used vasoline for anything ever again. Thanks for letting me share that.

Hi,Great topic!!!! I have been thinking about all my terrible hair days and I have had lots of them. It is hard to figure out which ones were the absolute worst.I think my most recent worst hair day was a few years ago. I was invited to a very formal Christmas party where it was important to look just right.I bought the perfect dress and then went to get my hair done differently. I should have settled for a special braid or updo. But noooooooooo. I chose that time to do something new.I insisted that my normal long hair specialist cover my entire head in curlers to create a spiral perm look. When he got finished my head looked like it was double sized. I had giant bionic curls that looked like Shirley Temple on steroids.I have a round face and have to work hard to give it a more oval shape. So there I was after 3 hours of hard hairstyling and a lot of money with curls from hell.I didn't have time to go home and redo it. So I got dressed and left the curls in until I got to the party. I felt really strange and people were looking at me strangely. So I snuck into the bathroom and made the terrible mistake of trying to brush out the curls. They had been heavily sprayed with hair spray and so I had this giant head of frizz sticking out everywhere. It had been better with the bionic curls. My hair is very thick, so it looked really strange. The more I brushed, the worse it got until I was freaking. I didn't want to leave the bathroom.I thought about just sticking my head under some water but decided against that number since I was wearing a velvet dress. So I picked the monster hair out the best I could and suffered throught the rest of the party trying to not to be noticed. When a photographer even looked like they were coming my direction I turned and ran!!!I learned my lesson. NEVER, EVER do a new hairstyle on the day of a big event.
