Thick hair tends to poof out when cut short--the weight keeps it down and long hair needs to be washed less often. On the other hand, thick hair can be hard to detangle, especially since yours is wavy. These are pros and cons to your hair type... things you'll want to think about. You'll want to consider what your hair's been like in the past too. Ever had a short cut before? how'd it go?

But i dont no wat ma hair would look lik with the strips of blond with short hair. I might want to also grow bak the hair lik i have in pervious times in the past.

It's not my place or anyone's place to tell YOU what to do with YOUR hair. Only you can decide : )

Do you want to cut it and experiment again? Personally I think anybody can look good with long hair; it's the ones with class who can pull off a short cut. You sound like a classy chick....Give short hair a try if you're up for something relatively new, or growing it long again can be another personal discovery process as well.

You didn't say exactly how long your hair used to be... Have you tried finding your terminal length?? That's always a good experience for anyone. Recently I've decided to go for classic length instead of hip length.

Long hair is for the shy, the conservative, the people who feel they're not attractive, just in general for hiding behind. Short hair is for the proud, the outgoing, the unconventional, the confident, people who feel they have nothing and no reason to hide. Or at least that's how I see it. I like the look of short hair best, as well as what I feel it represents about a woman. I like confident, unconventional women who don't feel they have to hide behind a lot of hair. ! % Aaebade d !, ` . 4``

Hello Kuroneko,

I find your comments about long/short hair very prophetic : ) But long hair has given me a lot more confidence though, that's the only exception. I grew up shorthaired, unconventional, etc...Great philosophy... It kinda had me creeped out there.

You mentioned you "can't do much with" your hair. Well,... there's a LOT you can do with long hair (If your hair is long enough, that is, and not so layered. Mine is layered and it prevents me from doing a classic English) Do a search for sites that have long hairstyle instructions. I think Hairboutique itself has a lot of good suggestions for long hairdos. Like braids and updos, buns, twists, etc... Long hair is great for creative minds. $$ )'```ara $).,`` %*,`r !,,!-- ,,)-% ! Hi all,

Thanks for all the great info shared.

I have had very long hair for years and years. I like short hair as well as long hair BUT on me, I just feel (and my friends seem to agree) that I look better with long hair. Now that I have spent so many years growing it and caring for it, I feel like my hair is part of me.

However, everyone has to make their own choices of what is right for them.

I will say that about 2-3x a year I get bored with my hair and want to do something different. Sometimes I even think about cutting it...but never to the point of cutting more than a few inches or maybe having layers added to give me more styling options.

In the past I have found that some of the following things help me get over a "I'm bored with my hair" slump.

1. Get bangs
2. Grow out bangs & use headbands, barrettes, clips to help.
3. Add highlights around my face.
4. Add a temporary/demi haircolor to brighten or soften.
5. Play with new hairtoys (new hairsticks, French hairpins, pony elastics, jaw, claw,Concorde, condor clips....etc., This helps me focus on trying the new accessory rather than wanting to drastically change my hair.
6. Play with new deep conditioning tools like changing from using a sesame seed oil base to an almond base or jojoba base or changing around the essential oils I use.
7. Changing my shampoo/conditioner/leave-in conditioners.
8. Braiding damp hair for lots of fun waves.
9. Experimenting with new types of ponytails (double & triple stacked, high, low, side, curled ponies).
10. Playing with styling tools that won't damage my strands. Last time I got bored I was playing with rag rollers, crimping just the very top layer or part of my hair and playing with zulu knots.

I think it is natural to get bored with hair sometimes because it is human nature to want to change things and experiment.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the topic. I really enjoyed all the great ideas.

Best wishes,

Dave, that's so funny! I've found the opposite of Kuroneko's views to be true, at least in my area. Long hair has brought me more confidence, more social outgoingness, etc.. But it's nice to have that kind of thought diversity on the board though.

That's quite a generalisation, Kuroneko. I'm not shy or conservative. I'm also very attractive (and humble). I'm not hiding anything. ! % A` nade a p / ,bb . %!$ !!,, -% `` !.
