Hair loss cause?

Is it everyone else's understanding that male pattern balding is the result of genetics that cause hairs to grow that are overly sensitive to the hormone DHT which in turn shrinks those follicles as that hair can no longer fit through it?

Just wondering if gene therapy has ever been proposed?

Anyone research this type of thing?
