Can I wash my dreadlocks without retwisting them?

I've had my dread locks since November 2009, and my mom decided to start working on them on recently, cause it costs allot, 60 bucks, just for a wash and re-twisting, the thing is my moms sister was taking me up to get them done professionally, so my moms sister knows how to do it, and she won't be coming down here to help until this Tuesday. I haven't washed my hair in like 4 weeks, and and it really itches! I need to know if it's alright to just wash my dreads without re-twisting them until my moms sister comes up to help re-twist or tighten them, and will it ruin my dreads if I do that?
