Vacation ideas Lousiana,Mississippi,Alabama Area?

Does anyone have some good ideas for attractions, theme parks, sites and must see sites for a family vacation with two kids age 4 and 9 in the states of Lousiana,Mississippi and Alabama? We are coming from Minnesota and would like to see some civil war sites, my son would like to see a battleship, we would all like to see the ocean, possibly dolphins. Were open to anything thats fun site seeing ect... we will be in the area for over a week, no planned date to go expecting it to be May,or late June 2010. Any tips would be greatly appreciated and also is there any good internet sites for family vacations in this area? Thank You
