Synth Dread Hybrids?

Hey dreddies!  Each year for Burning Man I do silky wrapped dread extensions w/ KK hair...and love them, but they're just not suitable for long-term wear.  My real hair is fine textured, layered, and only shoulder length.  I'm familiar w/ the tutorials/techniques on DoctoredLocs, but was wondering if anyone has had success or can offer any tips of creating temp-to-permanent dreads w/ KK hair.  If so, would the accelerator/peppa work on KK w/ backcombing?  Thanks for sharing your input...
