Would love to have advice on my hair colour.

 
 Hello there,

 After two and a half years of growing my hair "Russel Crowe-eaque", I've decided for a change. My hair makes me look rather geeky and scruffy at the moment and I am sick and tired of running my hair through my hands and grasping a load of dead hair. This is my hair now.


As you can see, this is a pic of me in Philly contemplating ragging it out, this was taken about 4 months ago...

However, I am looking to get my hair cut in a very "Jude Law-Alfie" Fashion... As.. well.. My hairline is a bit like his and he hides it very, very well indeed...


As you can see, I was going for something similar there, at the time, and it didn't quite work out as well as I had hoped.

So this time I want to get it right and not make a complete arse of myself.


So I want to go from the first pic, to this, however, I don't really know what colouring is used there... Would that be just a plain old dye, or do you think that is foils.. I really do not know... Please advise...

If anyone could also possibly advise me on what kind of cut I should be looking for, I would be very, very greatful...
