My brown is blah

I'm 50 and about 50% gray.  I've been dyeing my mousy brown hair reddish brown/auburn on and off since college.  My natural hair color was just never very interesting.  Now, as I've aged, the brown is more dull than ever.  Is there any kind of hair color that will color only my brown hair and not affect the gray?
