My friend gets this lotion from an East Indian store that is suppose to lighten your skin color. It is a special lotion that is just for that purpose. It contains small amounts of bleach and can be used to lighten dark bruises. It seems to work ok on skin blemishes but of course you should be very careful with products like this.

Normal lotion wouldn't make your skin lighter, unless like gossipqueen said, it contains bleach. The lotion might actually put a thin layer over your skin and temp. lighten it.

I would think twice before using a product like that because although it may temporarily lighten your skin, the change will not be dramatic and exposure to sunlight will cause your skin to go back to its natural color and may actually darkin your skin tone in the long run. So before you consider using this product I would recommend that you do some research. Hope that helps

Yea I wouldn't advice skin lightening lotions, they do more damage than good; unless you have a dark spot you want to lighten.

If you're goal is to lighten your skin by a few shades, then there are many products in the market today that are making that possible. It has nothing to do with "becoming white" or following after Michael Jackson. Many people bleach or lighten their skin to improve discolorations or their ovearall complexion or to even their skin tone. I, myself, have lightened incredibly with great products. It all depends on your skintype and how much money you're willing to spend. Actually, I'm part of the Bright Skin Forum which is dedicated to skin lightening. You will see the link in my signature.

IF you have any questions, pm me. Like I said, you need to do your research and find out what works best for you.

Good luck.

Can you elaborate. Why is it that you think that's sad? Do you not know that a lot of people suffer from hyperpigmentation. You problaby don't know what that means, so you'll have to look it up. Uneven skin stone, dark patches, acne scars -- All these things are issues people deal with and need help with, so they look for lightening products to help.

Some people are just very ignorant when it comes to things like this, people of colour have different skin from caucasians their skin reacts differently to different things ie acne, their skin is also prone to discolouration and many caucasians have issues with hyperpigmentation as well. I dont understand why this is 'sad' to taggi, maybe you should do some research before jumping into this topic and making remarks when you are evidently not educated on this subject.

well i forgot what i posted but since u 2 are trying to attack my opinion, let me respond. I know EXACTLY what hyperpigmentation is because my newborn nephew has it. im extemely educated about this topic because it hits home. it is very ignorant for u all to assume u know me based off of sumthing i posted. when i sad its is 'sad', i meant that because i went to some of those skin lightening forums out of curiosity to see what they were all about. i came across several forums that to me were talking about changing the skin completely because of identity issues. some of the ppl were talking about completely changing their skin because society tells them they are "too black". i have no problem with ppl using lighteners for dark spots or health conditions. next time u want to attack someone's opinion, try thinking past your mental block of ignorance yourself taggi38799.832974537

Im sorry for trying to attack you if thats what you took it as, you are right i cannot call you ignorant but just the fact that you said it was 'sad' and did not specify what for that made you look ignorant, im sure you are a very educated person and not ignorant seeing as you do understand what hyperpigmentation is but remember this is a forum and induviduals on here do not know you personally , when they read something they judge based on what they read, you refering to the skin lightening forum as 'sad' did in fact make you look ignorant although you clearly are not, you should next time maybe specifically point out what u see as sad because obviously that is your opinion and you should make yourself more understood next time.

- take care

For anyone wondering about skin lightening lotion. I bought an overnight mask from one store on ebay, which is working out very nicely. It hasn't whitened my face, but it faded the marks I had from acne and has lightened the rest of my face to the color inside my arm, which is lighter than my surrounding skin. It dosn't work overnight, but within a few weeks it is very noticeable. I hope this is helpful to anyone else who might need to lighten some darkening or discoloration on their face. There should be a link in my signature to the store.
