short dreads?

im a black male with a short afro puff about 2 inches if pulled straight, i wanna know if this is long enough to get those short twisty balled dreads in my hair and since im going to go to a salon to get this done i wanna know what kinda name they are given so i dont leave with something i didnt want

how much would it generally cost too? cus if its too much ill jus get braids

I don't know if this might be too late but I think what your are talking about are called comb-twists.  This is where they take your hair and put the comb at the root of your hair and twist it out to the ends.  You should end up with some neat little coils.
