I'm only 16 and my hair is falling out like crazy in summer. Everytime when i run through my hair with my fingers there are 5-6 strands falling out on each part of my head...so when i run my fingers through my entire head there will be almost 40 strands falling out. Rather serious I think. And when my shampoo my hair tons of them fall out. Is this "normal shedding"?

I used to have thick fine hair when I was little, but then I think it was too thick and went to have a hair cut. After a few months my hair growed thick again. After a few more haircuts my hair did not grow back thick like it normally does. Instead it began thinning. I have this really limp hair on the top of my head.

I reckon the possible cause of my thinning hair is stress at school...and my diet is mostly junk food. Besides my average growth rate is slow...will it be the hormonal changes too? The stupid school rule here also requires us to tie up hair in a ponytail...so I tie it up everyday...I know this may cause some hair to fall down but I can't help it.

What can I do to remedy the situation now?

Stress and a poor diet can cause your hair to fall out.  Also another factor is how you care for your hair.  I searched many sites to find out the proper way to care for my hair, put a search in google for hair care tips and how to properly wash your hair.  Also try massaging your head every night or every other night for 7 mins by using the soft pads of your finger tips and just massage it like you were kneeding bread. Spend more time in the problem areas, doing this willl help the blood flow to your hair.  You'll feel a tingling feeling on your head too.

The right hair care products can also help strengthen your hair too, fructis is a good strengthening shampoo.  Also a good conditioner would be good to put in your hair and depending on what your hair is like you might condition once to twice a week.

Another good thing is to let your hair self dry when you get out of the shower, if you sometimes feel your hair is a bit greesy when you do this, try gently bloting your hair with a towel after you get out of the shower, helps deminish that greesy effect.

I suggest you work on your diet and try to make things less stressful.  Your diet should consist of protein (seeing that's what your hair is mostly made up of) and the proper vitamins. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat. Eliminate or cut back on smoking, caffeine and carbonated sodas which weaken the body and block maximum hair growing potential.  Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers or other hair care tools that may stress the hair.

Do a search for the proper vitamins you need to maximize hair growth.  Some sites will list foods that will benefit your hair, like banana's, yogert, etc.  I would find them for you but I'm in a hurry, sorry. It's a bit out of order but I hope all this helps.

Mine does that too. I don't think as much, but a few strands will come
out every time I gather my hair to one side and slide a closed hand over
the hair. It scares me! I have a healthy diet, exercise often and use
leave-in everyday. I only thermally style once or twice a week. I hope it's
just a hormonal/seasonal change and will be over soon. (But I hear
people are supposed to lose more hair in December. Why is ours falling
out in summer?)
