Will this look okay?

I have this friend who's interested in getting her hair permed and highlighted. She's a vietnamese girl with oriental hair and she seems really determined on doing this. Will it look okay with her oriental, black hair? I'm curious because I'd like 2 give her some advice b4 she does anything 2 quickly. I have a perm and that's what motivated her 2 get one as well, but it looks different on anyone and I wuz just wondering if it would look good with her black hair, plus she wants it highlighted brownish. Any advice 4 her?
