This happened last year:

I have had beautiful highlights put into my hair by a hairdresser over the years and I was very happy with her. I lightened my already highlighted hair with an at-home haircolor and I felt that it was a too light and uniform color. I went to my hairdresser to have some red woven into it to give it more depth. We went over the swatches and decided on a "copper" color.

I should mention that there was something going on between my hairdresser and the owner of the salon the day I was there. My hairdresser was telling me that the salon owner had not been paying the bills and that the salon was going out of business. She was very upset and made it very clear to me that she would not be working there any longer. She gave me her home telephone number so that I could find her at her new job.

She pulled my hair through a cap and applied the color. After the color was processed, she rinsed it out, removed the cap and showed me my new color. I now had PINK highlights (or would they be lowlights?) Not copper. I'm pretty meek at the hairdresser but I had to say, "It's pink!" Her response was, "No, it's copper". I'm thinking, "Nuh-uh. It isn't copper! Copper has orange in it and this is not orange-it's pink!!!" (in my head, I'm not so meek :o) ) The look on my face showed that I was extremely unhappy so she offered to put a toner on it. That made me feel better. She applied the toner and left me at the sink and went into the back room (near the sink). I heard her cussing about something and I immediately freaked out, thinking that she was angry with me. I held my breath and listened but she was complaining about the salon owner and the salon closure issues. By the time she came back to me I was a nervous wreck-man, she was pissed! She rinsed me and the toner had absolutely no effect on the pink color. She blew me out and I paid (I am stupid, I know) and left. You should have seen the looks I got on the way out of the salon-I am telling you people, I had PINK highlights!

I went to the grocery store and bought a brown/red haircolor because I knew it was dark enough to cover the pink. I have never had to wait so long in a grocery store line in my whole life! I'm thinking that the pink hair had an effect on the whole space/time continuum because I stood there having people stare at my head for HOURS! When I got home, my husband said, "Your hair is pink!" Well, duh! I was not a happy camper and when he asked, "Did you mean dye it pink?" My response was, "I am thirty five years old! Of course I didn't mean to dye my hair pink!!!"

He helped me with the at-home haircolor correction (awwwww-it wasn't as sweet as it sounds. He was pissed that I paid her!) and I haven't been back to that hairdresser since. I have spoken to other people and there was a problem with the owner not paying the bills but the salon didn't close down after all.

That is my story about pink hair.

I'm curious about what brands you used the first time, before you went in and had the "copper" highlights put in, and also what brand you used to correct the "pink" highlights? Also let me know the shades.

In the end did it come out okay? You had a lot done in what seems a short amount of time... is your hair more damaged and feel different? Or does it seem fine.

Would appreciate the info.
Thanks!

I used a drugstore brand in "Reddish brown" to cover it which was too dark for my coloring but I didn't want to mess with it anymore. My hair was damaged (from the original bleach in the highlights) and I ended up cutting it off after a while. The original brand that I used after the highlights (to touch up my roots that I mentioned was too light and uniform in my original post) was a store bought brand in a light blonde color. My hairdresser knew that I had put a color on it, as I explained the situation.
