Multiple bleachings, with a strong bleach, much conditioning after, and hope it doesn't turn out too straw-like. Probably a pro is better, as bleaching is super-hard to get even on your own!

bleach is the only way to do it...and yes-please please go to a pro...youll never be able to do it yourself. Realize that maintaining this color is gonna be a bit*h! Your going to have to get your roots touched up about every 2 wks at the most, and it can do a number on your scalp(burns, abrasians, etc.) ....Your going to have to bleach it in several processes to get it as light as you can and it WILL damage your hair...So condition it as much as you can before AND after...When you get it as light as you can--your going to have to put on a silver toner because 'platinum' cannot be achieved with bleach alone...Also, it is impossible for some Asians to even get their hair this light..The only way to tell would be to do a strand test....Anyway, good luck..Let us know how it turns out.

hmm i thought you are supposed to put a purple toner to get white hair... hmmm interesting

you could always get a white wig you know for that platinum hair with out the trouble. it will be costly to maintain it.

Who's that girl? One of your friends, I tell you she must have a miracle hairdresser
I've never seen such a perfect white shade on someone who naturally has black hair.

The best thing would be to see a hairdresser, but If you really want to do it at home, you should go to a beauty supply and get Clariol 7th stage liquid lightener, lifts 8-10 levels and 20 volume developer and all the accesories you'll need.
Then you'd have to bleach your hair to pale yellow it can take that you'd have to bleach your hair 2 times untill it has the color like the inside of a banana, then tone to give it the right platinum shade. But platinum blonde hair on someone who has naturally black hair is really a job for a pro.

Wow, that is very white/platinum blonde hair!

Are you sure you want to bleach it platinum? That can be very hard on the hair. Especially black or brunette hair.

I have naturally dark blonde hair, and I have thought of going platinum too, but decided against it, at least for now. I am going to get light blonde highlights instead.

She looks awesome! Very hard on the hair for sure. Only a few can get away with such daring color on dark hair but I give her kudos for doing it. We only live once. For me, I'm just happy to settle down with nice heavy blonde highlights rather than all over blonde look or go platinum.
