Hey. I'm a 13 year old guy and my parents were both born in India. I live in Australia and consider myself an aussie kid. I have thick hair, like i mean that it is the opposite of fine. I get hair cuts with hair clippers and my hair is short and all pokey. I really want to grow it so it actually goes down to my shoulders but i tried to before and it didnt work. My hair just kept sticking up more but it was right on my head not like hanging down how i want it. Is there a way to stop my hair from growing out and make it grow so it hangs down or is it just impossible for thick hair like mine?
I want my hair to be like this guys: http://www.6am.it/gossip/foto/appleyard_SOTY.jpg
unlike this picture of me, taken today:

mark appleyard! one of my favorite underrated skaters, but it's kind of hard to tell much about where your hair is going since it's so short in the picture, how long have you tried growing it before?

3 months is only like 2 inches of hair, if you want something what mark appleyard has, it will take at least a whole year, i used to have pretty long hair too

that was me about a year ago, i don't really recall how long it took me to grow since i've had the same length since around 8th grade...i'm currently trying to grow my hair back out after i buzzed all my hair off at the beginning of summer

i'm hoping to eventually get it back to the original length but it will be awhile (it's growing about an inch every month as of now)

a friend of mine took like 8 months to get that length.
you really have to just wait to have that type of hair. Mean while just put a hat on an just relax. if you are to stressed about your hair, you will impended its growth. So chill

what you might want to try is to comb your hair down everyday so it will have more of a chance of retaining that shape, so when you finally do get the length you want, your hair won't be all over the place

Hey everyone again. Well this is whats happening, im still growing my hair but it doesn't like move around even though its as long as my australian friends hair which bounces and shakes around. I know this is because my hair is much more coarse but he thinks that even though its so coarse, it will have to move around but when its longer because it will weigh itself down or something. <- is this true and what do you think about it all? and this is a picture of me today with my hair damp and combed down. http://www.geocities.com/slim_shady0012/PICT0112.JPG

I had a "Beatle cut" back in the day, and it bounced around more than I ever wanted... I suspect yours will have to reach a point somewhere around "Beatle" before you get more movement. e.g. ear length / 4-5 inches.
