new ideas for very short hair

My wife and I have appointments at the hair salon this coming weekend. She is getting tired of the heavy weight line mushroom cut and wants to try something different. She is willing to go as short as a #3(3/8") on the sides and back, and is thinking about maybe a spikey top. Could anyone share some pictures of styles like this? Personally I think she should go just a little shorter on the sides, and especially the back. She had it done with a #2 a couple of times and it looked stunning.
