Very Angry: Poofy Hair

As I'm growing my hair longer I am starting to become more and more frustrated. My hair is pin straight and very "poofy", without gel I would not be able to function. The problem is that my hair has no style, it just poofs out. I'm really sick of spending so much time every day making it look acceptable. I wear a hat for like an hour in the morning before putting gel to make it go down. My hair is somewhere from 5-6 cm and I'm hoping to death that at a certain length it will start going down and not make my head look an inch wider 

Define your "long". As hair gets longer and thus heavier, it should go down.

Well.. right now it's 2.4 inches on top and I think I remember reading somewhere that it should start going down easier at around 5 inches. 

at 5-6cm? no way it'll go down. wait 2 or 3 more months
