New Messageboard Scoops!

 

I apologize if anyone was unnecessarily inconvenienced yesterday when we converted to the very latest update of the board software.  Jeff and Andrew have spent the last 2 months customizing the new HairTalk Source to work with our special HairTalk requirements.  (Kudos to Jeff & Andrew for all their hard work in this latest HairTalk upgrade).

 

We have been testing the boards a lot to try and find glitches but with software there are always glitches.  So if you find things that are not working, please either email me at shelton@hairboutique.com or BMail me and I will pass it on to Andrew.

 

We have new ways of blocking spam now but it may cause some unwarrented error messages while we are fine tuning the spam detectors.  We also have much more sophisticated tracking tools so this will help us with troll detection and other problem posters.

 

Also, you should notice the board and the HairBoutique.com site loading a lot faster.  The time it takes to load pages are displayed are now at the bottom of the boards.

 

While we were upgrading the HairTalk boards yesterday we also were moving our complete HB.com site to a much bigger, faster and fully redundant secure location (double the size of our last location) that has direct pipes to all of the major ISPs.  We are also upgrading our many different servers to speed everything up and we have significantly upped our burstable upper limits.  The overall HairBoutique.com site routinely serves 1 million pages per day now so we are always concerned about page loading speeds and access bandwidth.

 

We have also upgraded to a new and much faster ad server which will hopefully prevent too much annoyance in that arena.  The new server should minimize any impact to serving pages.

 

The HairBoutique.com site currently has over 350,000 pages of content  and we are growing daily.  It seems like just yesterday (1997) that we were so excited when we had 25 pages.  Where did the time go?

 

As we grow we will continue to increase our bandwidth to keep up as we always have in the past.  So please, feel free to post to your hearts content.   We love all of our bloggers and now have fully active RSS feeds for the HairTalk blogs.

 

We appreciate all of your loyal visits and will do our best to continue to keep up with new options as they become available.

 

Just as an FYI we are also in the process of redesigning the entire general HB.com content site which has over 10,000 articles.  The HB articles will be broken up into more manageable chunks and of course lots of new topics are on the schedule.  So please stop by and check out our constantly changing content. 

 

Someone asked me recently if I thought we would ever run out of hair topics.  I sincerely doubt that it's possible.  :-)
