Several times (perhaps 5) when I try to go Hair Talk from hb.com I get 'infected' with the Winfixer malware. Is this because the site is infected or something to do with it appearing in the 'ads by google' top left and somehow it is catching a double click on the hair talk link.

If so then there's something which needs to be fixed. It's odd if this IS the case as none of the other ads auto-launch.

Winfixer is really nasty as IMHO it passes itself off as a warning from MS when in fact it is a nasty piece of malware. If you haven't got good AV and firewall protection you could get a nasty install.

Ideas from the webmaster please. Thanks.

Tod,

I believe that the winfixer malware is not coming from our website for the following reasons:

1)I have checked our web servers and found no trace of the winfixer malware anywhere.

2)We have not had any occurrences of our hosted ads infected computers with this malware, including our google ads.

3)We have received no other messages regarding this issue from our other users.

I realize that the winfixer malware appears to get installed when you visit our website.

However, I think what is really happening is that the malware is still resident on your machine from a previous incomplete clean-up and "awakens" when you navigate to certain pages. It would do this, because the winfixer malware sporadically pops up when visiting new web pages.

Below I have included some sources that will hopefully be of use to you in fixing this problem.

http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/winfixer-remove-popup.html
http://vil.nai.com/vil/Content/v_135733.htm

I apologize I couldn't be of more help to you, but I don't believe it is on our end, even though I understand that it may appear that way.

Good luck,
Andrew Walker
