I would imagine it would depend on your hair texture. My sister uses it on her childrens hair. But they have very thick, coarse, and curly hair. I would think it might make someone with fine to medium hair look oily. It couldnt hurt to try though depending on your hair texture.

Baby oil or Mineral oil is a petroleum based product. It will coat the hair strand, but you wont get any absorption into the hair. It definatly wont "hurt" your hair, but depending on your hair type, it might make out for an oily mess.

So, if it coats the hair, would i be good to use after washing and deep conditioning etc. to protect the hair?

Sure, I don't see anything wrong with that. All you can do is try. If it turns out to be a greasy mess, it will wash out, no harm done.

Since baby oil / mineral oil is a petroleum product, it could (strangely) contribute to dryness by keeping the moisture outside of the hair strand.

I think it has to do with the molecule size, that it's much bigger than a regular oil molecule. Maybe that's why it doesn't absorb the same way as, say, jojoba, and then it coats the hair strand as Madalyne said. AnaisSatin38638.702037037

Yah.  Kinda like silicones.  Agreed with all of what Anais Satin writes on topic.

Baby oil is good for sensitive skin that easily got allergic.
Do you have some hair/skin  problem?
Why your friend recommended  you to use it?
