the disappearance of the philosophy board or whatever it was called. It's so nice to have HT truly returned to on-topic discussions.

Hi Elissa,

Unfortunately the Philosophy and the Just Chillin boards were created by the demand of the visitors here...and yes...it did not turn out well at all.

The question that I have been asked now by several folks...is whether HairTalk can have some sort of Friendship Board or a Newbie Board so that people can talk about other topics such as introducing themselves when they first visit.

While I always try very hard to accommodate the visitors to HairBoutique.com proper as well as here at HairTalk....it quite honestly makes me nervous to consider any looser defined boards than the ones we already have.

I have actually tasked some of the HairBoutique.com employees with monitoring & moderating the boards 24/7 to try and prevent the previous fighting, spamming, trolling, attacking etc., that took place before in the previous editions of HairTalk.  So my committment to have a good HairTalk community does cost HairBoutique.com time and actual dollars.  But I am happy to do that to promote the subject of consumer "hair talk".  Hopefully they (the HB.com team) can keep things under control a little better and keep topics moving & flowing.  However, I am still nervous about offering any type of "general" friendship board.

Any thoughts or feedback is welcome?

Karen

PS.  I have also recently been asked for a Hip Hop board to talk about Hip Hop hair & related, a Movie Board and a Music Board.  To name just a few of the new topics that have been brought to me for consideration.

So let me know all of your thoughts.

Hi Elissa and Karen!  You guys have changed the boards again!  They look great!

A friendship board sounds nice. A Hip hop, movie, and music board sound great too. That way they can fill me in on what these groups are that keep screaming (they call it singing?). LOL!

Elissa I guess your baby is getting big?  She sure is a cutie!

Keep up the good work Karen!

Pushed by accident- Really I forgot what I was going to say!

Debbie

It's a bit crowded with boards here already.  What is there that could be discussed on a separate music or movie or hip hop or whatever else that can't take place on a normal off-topic board?  The more separate off-topic boards there are, the more clutter, and the more effort to patrol them all to keep them safe and clean.  Just one general off-topic board is enough, I would think.

Hi Kuroneko.

Thanks so much for your feedback.

Actually the very next release of the Messageboard software allows us to do SubTopic Stacking so that we can compress things quite nicely into just a few major categories. That will help with the topic clutter and make things a lot more organized.  As soon as the next release of software is available...we will upgrade and that should solve the problem.

Also...we will be soon retiring some of the older boards that don't get much traffic...like Senior Strands....just like we blew away JustChillin and Philosophy...which started so much trouble back when.  UGH. Sometimes people clamor for board topics and then never visit.  So eventually those boards go away.

As far as patrols & keep the boards safe & clean of spam/trolls/fights....I have tasked some of the HB.com employees to take turns watching the boards 24/7.  We also have some new sophisticated software monitoring tools to help us track known trolls and troublemakers and are instantly notified when they post.  That way we can catch it before it becomes a bigger problem.

Anyway...thanks for being a longterm visitor here.  I enjoy your posts and appreciate that you stick around even when things get weird sometimes.

Debbie, hi--yep! She sure is growing fast! thank you for the compliment.

Karen: I like the Introductions thread, that is a good place for people to get to know one another better and it's very well-defined. Perhaps you can change description to invite both old-timers and newcomers to intro themselves. This way both groups get to know one another a little better, and perhaps allow new friendships to begin.

You guys are doing a great job!

Hi Elissa,

Great idea ....slapping forehead...DUH....but seriously.  I like that about having oldtimers stop by as well.

And yes....your baby is growing fast.
