New member who needs advice .

Hi all ,I am so glad that I have found this site as I have often felt alone in my curly hair dilemmas.Now I can hope fully share some of my problems with you and get and give advice.
I have dark brown dry frizzy course curly (ringlets) hair.In the summer it is alot easier to deal with as I can leave it to dry naturally but come autumn/winter here in the uk we have alot of rain Argghh the frizzies start.
This is my daily routine which i am fed up with as it takes up so much time.
Wash hair every 2 days with either Pantene pro v or Clairol herbal essences for dry hair ,Squeeze out excess water and apply generous amount of conditioner ,again as above for dry hair. I then coumb it through and use a Wella shock waves mousse.Yhen i have to dry it for half an hour on a gentle heat.
Is there any other product that people know to be a curly hair secret that will make my hair less fizzy even in winter which is when It is more difficult to control???.And how can I avoid havinf to wet my hair every day as I still condition it every day.
Also which id the best intensive conditioner for our hair.
Your answers will be greatly apreciated.

Try Jheri Redding Professional Prescription humectin conditioner...........one heck of a name but really good stuff. It will weigh your hair down if you don`t rinse completely...not such a bad thing if you`re prone to frizz. You can get it at Sally`s and six bucks will buy you enough to last through Christmas. Redken All Soft is more expensive but also good.

ahhh so glad theres another British on here :)
not that i only like to chat with British, but in UK and US and other countries they sell different hair products in different shops, so when needing a reccomendation its.. oh u know wha i mean innit.

ok, the main problem with frizzy prone hair is that its lost its moisture, thats why it frizzes up....

so all you need to do is replace the hairs natural lost moisture...

the best way to do this is to regularly deep condition your hair, with a deep conditioner.

the best three deep conditioning treatments i have used, that have left my hair so silky smooth are:

*Kerastase oleo-relax deep conditioner (priced about ten pounds, from most proffessional hair salons)
*John Frieda`s Sheer Blonde deep conditioning treatment (priced i think

Also I forgot to say in post that I have to colour my hair every 8-10 weeks as it`s going grey.I is also shoulder length .
What r your hair types??
Liz read a post about gunk it beach bum from u.Does it still work??

yes, you can use sheer blonde on dark hair... the only reason it states its for "blonde" hair is because, when you bleach ur hair, it becomes more fragile and therefore needs more care and moisture.... so its filled with more goodies for ur hair :)
also because you dye your hair, it will be great for your hair :)

my hair type is.... about 3 inches now from the roots is natural dark georgious straight hair, the rest has been chemically processed twice, and in some areas, 3 times... (my hair was permed curly a year ago, then permed straight six months later...and then my mate bleached parts of my hair)
so, my hair type is really damaged, but im growing out all the chemically damaged bits....

and yes, that gunk it beach bum is great for eliminating frizz..... also, John frieda`s bleach blonde salt spray wave maker is exactely the same! thats about 4 pounds aswell
but with these spray thingies..... dont use too much... a little goes a long way :) well, use abit, and if u need more, then apply more, but start with a little so u know how much u need...

Lyris what is ur hair like??

Naturally, my hair is actually in pretty good shape. But it is wavy so I blow dry it straight every third day. This causes some dryness and since I have a LOT of hair, it gets frizzy in humidity or any kind of damp weather. It is medium brown with some warm highlights. Here`s a picture of me I hunted up... I posted on this board awhile back:

That`s my hair on a GOOD day with some heavy-duty conditioning and bone-dry weather. Believe me, it wouldn`t look like that on its own :-)

You really are a beautiful lady, I showed this picture to my wife and one of my teenage daughters and they agreed that you look adorable in this hairstyle, one of my teenage daughters has a somewhat similar style and of course she is a very cute girl. How old are you, I would guess early to mid twenties.

I agree with Johan you are gorgeous,and your hair is lovely,but my hair is not as nice as yours.
I will try and figure out how to post pics on here so that I can show you what it is like.

Same colour length and curl and body but I can only get mine tpo look like that with a lot of mousse and it drying naturally in the summer sun.!!! Life is so unfair.We are actually thinking of emigrating to Cyprus in next few years where the climate is better nad I can`t wait as my hair behaves much better there.Also the water is softer and less drying on the hair.

Wow, Cyprus! That sounds heavenly. I hope that becomes a reality for you. And btw, if I didn`t beat my hair into submission with a blow dryer and large quantities of gel it wouldn`t look at all like the picture :-) People don`t envy my hair once they find out how much time and effort I have to spend on it. Alas!

so Lyris, you know when you blowdry/straighten ur hair with any heating appliances..... how do u prevent it from gettin damaged....ur hair?
is using a heat protector alone enough to prevent anymore damage to damaged hair... (if that makes sense?)

I use a silicone spray and gel after conditioning. Unfortunately there really isn`t anything that can protect hair from the heat generated by most styling tools, so I keep the dryer about 6 inches from my hair. I only dry it every third day and I let it air dry as much as possible. From what I`ve read, blow dryer is only harmful to your hair during the final moments when your hair is almost completely dry. Before then, the heat is just evaporating the water off your hair--which is able to resist heat damage better when wet. Who knows.....I just wish my hair were naturally straight!

lollllll yes but even naturally straight hair needs heat styling as well! lol

coz as u know my hair is damaged...well im startin to think about straightenin it now, but if its gunna damage it more then its not really worth it innit
