I`ve recently noticed that my hair is somehow changing. It has always been very fine, but not thin, and wavy/straight my whole life. The wave it did have was mostly in the back and a few pulls of a brush would take out most of the wave. Blow drying would remove the wave too.

For the past few months I`ve noticed my hair acting more `curly`. When it`s wet it is very, very wavy. It allmost, but not quite, forms ringlets and looks "frizzy", which it has never done before.

This week I noticed that when I wear my hair in a bun I have a sort of "halo" of all these short curly hairs coming out of the top of my head. It seems like I`m growing new curly hair!

I do color my hair and have for a while, but I take good care of it and it`s not overprocessed or dry. My hairdresser told me on the last visit that it was in really good condition So what the heck is going on???

My hair was straight when I was growing up and went curly in high school (suppose it was puberty) I had been getting perms but noticed I didn`t need to any more. I don`t know if hair can change later in life or not.

This happened to me. When I was in high school I had straight hair with maybe just a tiny bit of wave. I kept it permed for years. Then about 5 years ago I decided to let it go straight, so I let all the perm grow out. Surprise - my hair never went straight, it was (and still is) very wavy/curly, especially in the back. Until then I never knew it had changed because of all the perms.

So yes, your hair texture CAN change.

mine did the same thing. I`ve never had it permed or anything, but it just to be really straight but lately it`s gotten curly. It started out straight, and just kept getting wavier and wavier every year. I love it, I hope it NEVER stops! :-)

Hey has anyone ever heard of curly hair going straight!?! Please god please! I don`t mind my curly hair actually - mine are loose ringlets that fall from about just past my ear and if I scrunch up with a bit of moose can get a bit tighter but equally I can blow dry my hair straight so best of both worlds! What is everyone elses curls like?

My hair has always been naturaly curly, mostly ringlets. its not thin, and not thick..and when i was little it was all the way down to my butt..then i cut it, and have kept it short ever since. i love curly hair, but sometimes i do straighten it because straight hair is easier to manage. I have heard of people`s hair texture changing, my cousin has had curly hair most of her life, then a couple years ago it started getting straight. she dosnt like it though, and wants a perm. anyways curls are nice, if ur hair turns curly u should love it!

I don`t mean to start an argument or change the course of the thread......but how do you know straight hair is easier to manage than curly hair? I have curly hair and I do it once in the morning and I`m done. I see straight haired people continually get out their brushes to keep their hair sleek, shiny, not all separated looking. And what about those that aren`t completely straight so they subject their hair to the torture of being blow dried straight. To me curls are easier.
Your hair texture changes every 7-12 years, sometimes its very noticeable, and others go unnoticed, this is probably one of yours
Where did you hear that? I have never heard that. During cosmetology school we learned hair may change with hormones. Sometimes around puberty, for some women it changes during (or just after) pregnancy, and some w/ menapause.

I had this happen, mine had been stick strait till I hit 4th grade when we cut my hair all off (my gma took me to a barber TRAMATIC!) when it started to grow back in it got curlier and curlier till about my senior year and its stayed pretty wavy since.

SnowWhite, i think i agree, while some curls can be unruley, I permed over my natural curl to giveit some more texture. Plusit takes me ATLEAST 20 min less to do my hair everymorning.
