I realize that a lot of these oils will more than likely not be used on your hair, but in the name of caution... I feel that it`s important to post this for those that may be new to essential oils or those that may stumble across this board.

It is not recommended that essential oils be used directly on the skin (other than those oils identified as safe for "neat" -undiluted topical use by the drop in site specific use)- or that they be taken internally.

Do not use the following oils if you are pregnant:

Aniseed, Basil, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Cypress, Fennel, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Marjoram, Myrrh, Oregano, Peppermint, Rose (until delivery), Rosemary, Sage or Thyme

Do not use the following oils if you have epilepsy:

Aniseed, Fennel, Hyssop, Sage or Thyme could trigger an attack

Do not use the following oils if you have high blood pressure:

Aniseed, Hyssop, Rosemary, Sage, or Thyme

Photosensitisation. The following oilsshould not be used before exposure to sunlight or before going on sunbeds:

Angelica, Bergamot, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon (expressed), Lemon verbena, Lime (expressed)
Mandarin, Orange, Tangerine

Skin irritants. The following oils may cause irritation to sensitive, inflamed, or allergic
skin types:

Aniseed, Basil, Bay, Benzoin, Camphor, Citronella, Fennel, Lemon, Lemongrass, Lemon verbena, Melissa, Nutmeg, Peppermint, Rose (in high concentrations), Rosemary, and
Ylang Ylang (in high concentrations); or any absolute or concrete (solvent extracted).

People with sensitive skin should only use Cinnamon, Fennel, and Thyme in 2% dilution.
Oregano should not be used in baths.

Always keep away from children`s reach!

Other precautions: Avoid hazardous oils! Keep oils away from heat & light. Reduce dilutions
by 50% for pregnant women, children, and elderly persons. Do not use on or near the eyes. Do
skin patch test if prone to skin sensitivity and use extra care on broken or damaged skin. Avoid
phototoxic oils with a history of skin cancer.
Buy only genuine and authentic therapeutic grade essential oils and use them with respect and care.

Hi Trix,

Yes. Thank you so much for this. It is so important to note all of the things you mentioned.

Excellent tips, as always.
