As I have mentioned recently, we are undergoing some wonderful new changes at HairBoutique.com including completely upgrading our Marketplace -software & store features, adding a brand new Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) for our orders & customer service phones lines AND upgrading our Messageboard software.
We are increasing our rack space at our new state of the art co-location data center to 50% more space. During this changeover we will be upgrading our network, firewalls, database and all our servers.
The reason we are doing all of this to serve our loyal visitors, customers and friends of HairBoutique.com better by offering the best software, hardware and networks we can.
Unfortunately, all this software upgrading and moving of firewalls and servers will potentially require us to take the HairTalk boards offline for approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours max. We will try to do it faster if possible. This downtime will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2003 from approximately 9:30 am CST until 12:30 pm CST.
The new HB.com Marketplace with many more shopping options & features (gift registries, private buying clubs, special coupons, gift certificates etc) will be launched between 1:30 AM and 12 noon on Saturday, August 30th. Although we don't expect extended downtimes for the main HB.com site or the Marketplace, it is possible that there will be a brief cutover period of approximately 3-4 hours where service may be interrupted temporarily.
The plan is to try to get everything moved in the wee hours of the morning to prevent minimal inconvenience but there will be a period of down time that will have to occur for the store upgrade.
We will do out best to keep any downtimes to the absolute bare minimums but wanted to warn all of you in advance so you can plan accordingly.
Since we will physically be moving the current servers from one data center to another data center and this requires the projected downtimes.
We apologize in advance but wanted to give everyone a heads up on this big move.
The good news? We will have a much faster network and the latest, greatest state of the art software and hardware. We will also be upgrading our firewall to offer better protection against worms & viruses.
