Your definition of long and short

What is your perception of long, medium, short and super short?

To me super short would be above the ears with very short layered lengths. (i.e. the pixie)

Short would be chin length to an above the ear crop.

Medium would be chin length to top of shoulders.

Long would be anything below the top of the shoulders.

Is this in general what you think? I often hear someone say they have had their hair cut short but they have a shoulder brushing pageboy.

I basically agree with what you wrote, and most people I know agree with you too.
There are so many women wearing pixies and shorter crops these days that those styles are considered short.
A mid length bob is considered medium length. Past the shoulders is considered long.

I so can't stand it when girls say their hair is short, but it's to their shoulders or chin or something :-P !
Well, okay, I used to think chin-length or above was short, chin to shoulders was medium, and below that was long, but I think my perception changed after I wore a buzzcut for a while. Ever since then I think short hair means you can see a woman's nape and ears without having to tie her hair up, and pretty much anything longer than that, I pretty much call long, now. *sweatdrops*

Short: Pixieish.

Long: Anything else. LOL

But then again, as long as I don't use my definitions when working with a client, my definitions are irrelevant.

When I see someone with shoulder length hair refer to it as short, I simply think...

"I could expand your definition range in a few (really) short minutes."

I don't, of course, because that wouldn't be right now, would it?

I agree with you except I would add extra long for hair that passes bra strap length. I too don't understand women saying their hair is sooo... short and is still past their shoulder.

When I went from long hair past my waist to a bob cut I felt bald! I really liked the new cut but did my hair ever feel short!
Now that I have a very short pixie, if my hair gets to be an inch long it feels long!
It is just what you are accustomed to.

I would by and large agree with IfOnly's perception.

To me it depends on how peoples hair is where u live because me i live in Queens and in high school and how girls hair are in my school and around my way they hair be either real short or long.They call my hair long and its really only up 2 the top of my shoulders and 2 me thats medium but compared 2 alot of their hair i guess u could call it that but even then i still wouldnt call it long.I'm getting it cut like T-Boz had her hair in the "Waterfalls" video anyway like i said b4 just because i never have anything 2 do with it and i be wanting braids but i dont got nobody 2 braid it 4 me,i mean i do (my cousin and my motha) but my cousin i gotta pay her n my motha she dont be wanting 2 do it at all so ima just cut it 4 2 reasons so 1.less maintainence and 2.i really like short hair anyway n i love T-Boz's cut,and its cute and sexy at the same time and thats exactly what i want.
