Styling Creams for men

Is there really any difference in the creams, i.e. paul mitchell calls it texture cream, and american crew calls it forming cream? Im really wanting to try the Moroccanoil Molding Cream, but if its the same thing then i don't want to be paying nearly $30 for it.

Also anyone got some good pomade, and alternative spray wax suggestions?
