I am a male and I have short-ish (2-3 inches) curly hair and I am trying to style it. I have been using a flat iron along with pomade. My question is what order should I style it in. Straightening it by itself doesn't seem to work well and I have seen different things you can do as far as order. Such as straighten then damp and put pomade on (which is what I have been doing and hasn't worked out). What should I do as far as order? I was thinking about after taking a shower, dry my hair so it is damp and put the pomade in and let it dry, then straighten it. Any advice or personal experiences that worked best for you would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Leave it curly with curl cream?!....you want to towel dry, apply a spray heat activated straightener product, blow dry using fingers to pull  curls in desired direction, then flat iron. I like to use a holding hairspray spray on hands & run through hair for finished look. Pomms/wax/mud has moisture which promotes curl come back. Ironing in pomms might be clumpy/waxy looking but heat activated sprays stay soft for max ironing flat.
