Anime style hair! *boy*

Hey all !
Right, I have real long hair for a boy ( about 20cm I'd say ) and i don't really know what to do with it.
So I've been looking up all over the web and found that Anime like hairstyles can be pretty cool; especially "Cloud"'s from Final Fantasy (

I think it could really work on for me ( sorry don't have a pic for you guys) but I don't really know how to do it. I'm probably going to just show the hairstylist the pic and be done with it.
I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten an anime hairstyle before and what should I do to keep it like it is when I come out of the barber.
